Reghu who belongs to an orthodox family is left alone. The deity of Devi installed in the upper house of his traditional taravadu, Ancestral House, doesn't like any other women ruling the house. This is a belief followed by his predecessors and the villagers around. He marries Girija, a tomboyish girl who takes such beliefs as superstitions. But she dies within a few months. After several years, Reghu happens to meet Radha, a village girl, who has great resemblance with Girija. Hiding the fact that it is his second marriage, he marries Radha, daughter of a poor retired school master. But he is not able to have any affair with Radha. But when Radha happens to realize the superstition and his first marriage, she transforms to a DEVI herself, from the character of a humble village girl. The film ends with the cry of a newborn baby.
