- Doctor, Doctor chronicles the exploits of four doctors who formed the Northeast Medical Partners. After completing their Harvard medical schooling and residences they all got together and setup their own partnership in Providence, Rhode Island.
- Television pilot based on the film. Although the show wasn't picked up for the fall schedule, CBS did air the pilot in the summer of 1990.
- Mike can't understand Deirdre's extremely negative reaction upon learning that her patient, "Wake Up Providence" host Hugh Persons, is HIV-positive... until she confesses her fear that she may also be infected.

- Grant is offered membership to an exclusive golf club. He invites Abe and when he arrives they give him the cold shoulder. Abe tells Grant that they're racist but he points if they were why would they make him a member since he's Jewish.
- A mouse is loose in the clinic. Mike goes on a house-call to treat murder mystery writer Olivia Judd. He tells her about an undetectable poison and soon her husband is dead.
- Mike develops a hernia after doing an exercise demonstration with Pia on the morning TV show. He needs surgery but is afraid to get it.
- When a doctor appears on the show to peddle a new plan he invented. Mike says it's just a fad and not effective. But the producer who uses it, decides to side with the doctor and ousts Mike.
- College mate Peter Balcovske is coming for a visit. The gang recalls Mike's first encounter with Peter during an eventful study session.
- Mike fires the incompetent nurse. Unbeknownst to him, Grant hires Mike's visiting mother as the new nurse.
- Abe reluctantly allows Mike to babysit while he takes his wife out for their anniversary. He's not happy with what Mike teaches his kid.
- Grant begins an office romance wit the new receptionist who's half his age.
- Mike is trying to start his own practice and his mother is having a party for his book. There is a book review in Playboy.
- Richard is having trouble sleeping. He has become hooked on sleeping pills as he gets his fix from each one of the partners.

- Mike and Richard ask their father for money to fix the roof. Richard suspects that their father is cheating on their mother with Roxanne Abrams (Beth Broderick) after overhearing half a conversation. Faye has dumped her boyfriend.
- Mike has written a new book. Abe, Grant, and Deirdre are all angry about each of their fictional characters. They sue him to stop the publication.
- Grant's psychiatrist sister Dr. Leona Linowitz (Anne Ramsay) moves into the office upstairs. The single mom is escaping a bad marriage in Chicago. Mike takes her out on a date and it goes badly.
- Abe is angry at Deirdre after she sold him a lemon of a car. Grant brings in his date Dr. Rose Hulse. Mike starts dating Rose before Grant breaks up with her.
- A girl (Jensen Daggett) rejects Kenny for Nichols but let's him know he is second at bat.
