- Jim Hudson places himself in financial jeopardy after rescuing his father from bad oil investments. His only hope is to mortgage his ranch and ride a deadly bucking horse in the rodeo. Meanwhile, Jim's engagement to Cora is threatened by her guardian, Arthur Blake, who intends to conceal his misappropriation of the young woman's fortune by marrying her. Jim's life is further complicated when his father is beset by charlatans after striking oil. Desperate to win Cora, Arthur kidnaps her, but Jim locates the hideout, rescues Cora, and supervises her guardian's arrest.
- A poor chorus lady with a traveling burlesque show gets a letter back-stage informing her that she has fallen heir to a ranch further west. Immediately, she invites the company to go with her to the ranch. The foreman and his accomplice, a villain, whose wife is also of a vicious nature, have reasons to believe that there is gold in the old creek and plan to drive the newcomers away, with the hope that the owner will sell out cheap. But country life is a change and appeals to the intruders, who refuse to be ousted. Then, the woman plans to start a gossip fest, and make life so miserable the attractive young ladies will be obliged to clear out. Gold is discovered, the rescuing cowboy is accepted, and the villain rejected.
