While Babs is talking to the car dealer in his shop, "Con" Cornelius, just out of jail, sells the car, pockets the cash and makes a getaway. The car is bought by Jerry Bassett, who has just won the Penfield $1,000 Service and has quit his job at the laundry. (So much for service awards.) Jerry drives his flashy car to the Royal Valley, a swanky resort, where Randal is awaiting financial help from Barbara. Jerry meets Barbara on the road and gives her a lift to the hotel, thinking she is on her way there to apply for a job, and is surprised to later see her as a guest. Some things happen, Barbara sees Randall for what he really is, and decides she'd rather marry Jerry and keep the family laundry business in the hands of a real laundryman... even one who bails out when he gets his hands on a few bucks.

One night, standing in front of the concert hall, he sinks to the street from hunger and fatigue. He is picked up by two men associated with the orchestra, Mancini and Rozzini, and they take him to Rozzini's and they develop a plan whereby they will set up Greig in a next-door studio where he can give violin lessons. A young violin genius named Carl Rupert shows up and, with the aid of Mancini and Rozzini, Greig starts the boy off on a brilliant career. Or, what promised to be a brilliant career until his long-lost mother shows up.
- Assistant District Attorney Jeffery Powell has just sent an innocent man to prison for the murder of a gambler. Powell is in love with, Marion Courtney, but he's unaware that Marion is the sister of the innocent man he sent to prison. Marion gets herself committed to a women's prison to get proof from inmate, Evelyn 'Duchess' Thane, that her brother is innocent. Powell learns of Marion's plight and believes she's in love with the man he sent to prison...
- Professor John Sylvestus Applegate has been dismissed from his college teaching position for objecting too loudly to the predominant part that football and other sports play in the curriculum, and soon finds himself dead broke when publishers show no interest in the dry material he brings them. He meets a young boy, Laury, and his mother Sharon in the park and is quite taken with them. He gets a job-prospect letter, as a private tutor, and applies at once. His employer is Mr. Morley, a surly, sour, mean-tempered old man who informs John he is to act as a tutor for his grandson--who turns out to be Laury. Sharon, Morley's daughter, had eloped against her father's wishes and was abandoned by her husband after Laury's birth.
- When a mother dies of heart failure in a doctor's office, the physician--feeling somewhat guilty because he couldn't save her--takes an interest in the woman's young daughter.
- Dan Adams resigns his position as prosecutor on the district attorney's staff and sets out to clean up a gang of fake-accident racketeers. He gets a job with an insurance company, and assures the company president he will get the goods on the gang or die in the attempt. At the company offices, he meets Carol Carter and she, believing he is a shyster (possibly redundant) lawyer in the employ of the racketeers gives him as little help as possible. Dan visits his brother Eddie, who is mixed up with the gang and tries to make him break away. Eddie is belligerent but finally, because of the pressure brought by Dan and his wife Tonia, agrees to go straight. The gang, led by "Duke" Trotti, fears he will squeal and they kill him, plus they make his death look like an accident and plan to collect on it. Dan is closing in on the gang when Carol, who is now his assistant, comes up with some conclusive evidence, but "Duke" has plans to get rid of her before she can give the information to Dan.

- A gangster's girlfriend on the run from the police, who suspect her of helping her boyfriend commit a robbery, holes up in a waterfront bar. She stows away on a fishing boat headed out to sea, and winds up falling in love with and marrying one of the fishermen, but doesn't tell him about her past. However, a year after they're married and have a child, her ex-boyfriend gets out of jail and comes looking for her.

- Shortly after his arrival from South America to New York, Steven Humbolt is found dead in his apartment at the Savoia Hotel. Inspector Decker Dawes investigates the case and although the cause of death is described as apoplexy, Dawes is convinced it as murder, especially after he learns that Humbolt had been married fifteen times. The widows come from all over the world but three of them live in NYC; Sybilla Crum, a noted evangelist; Carol Manning, recently remarried to a man named Arnold; and Ruby Cotton. A detective is sent to Philadelphia to try to learn the identity of the sender of a box of flowers delivered to Humbolt's room before his death. Dawes calls on Carol Manning Arnold, who says she had married Humbolt five years ago, and that he had disappeared after stealing all her money and she was told he had died in South America. But he had recently shown up trying to blackmail her as she had not told Arnold of the marriage. The autopsy shows that Humbolt was killed by hydrocyanic acid gas and that the broken glass globe, found by Dawes, was a Helmholtz resonator, a well-known device that can be broken by sound-waves. Sybilla Crum goes to the district attorney to try to stop the investigation, while Dawes also learns that, unknown to her husband, Carol maintains an apartment in her maiden name. Dawes hears a radio program featuring The Electric Voice in which the latter demonstrates the power of sound waves emanating from his voice in breaking glasses, ringing bells and other feats. When the Voice emits a sound that is supposed to break glass, a Helmholtz resonator on Dawes' desk breaks.
- A stage actor finds success in Hollywood, but it goes to his head and jeopardizes his relationship with his wife and son.
- A typical mid-30s entry from the Maury M. Cohen Invincible arm of Chesterfield Pictures, shot in the usual static style of Frank R. Strayer who moved the camera maybe twice for a medium close-up, probably under orders not to from producer Cohen who knew moving the camera cost time and money. This one has good-girl Dorothy Brooks being summoned to the apartment of her department store boss, Mr. Dickman, who accuses her of stealing lingerie from the store, but if she will be nice and kiss him, he won't turn her in. She shoves him away and he tumbles (off-camera, of course) out of the second story window. Dorothy flees with the aid of her friend, Kitty Kennedy, and she soon encounters Donald Cabot, Jr. who, unknown to her, is the son of the department store owner. He, of course, also doesn't know she is an employee of his father's store wanted for assault and theft. No surprises from this point to the happy ending. Dickman, the cad, naturally turns out to be the lingerie thief.

- It opens in 1926 when three bank robbers, Theodore Kedrich, Jan Imarski, and Petra Lonelli, stage a daring daylight bank robbery and get away with a million dollars in cash. They are soon apprehended and sent to prison for ten years but the money is not recovered. Flash forward to 1936 when all three men have been released from prison and are about to be deported back to where they came from via the Deportation department at Ellis Island. They arrive by the ferry boat and already on hand to bid them adieu, and possibly learn where they stashed the missing money, is gang leader Dude and his three henchmen, Nails, Moxie and Bugs, and also Kendrich's niece Betty Parker there to bid old Uncle Ted a fond goodbye. Also on Ellis Island is a crook called Solo, who has an upper hand as he has stolen the credentials of a Treasury Agent named Peter James and has access to the prisoners, and has cut a deal with Kendrichs to get him off of Ellis Island.
