- Jack De Quincy, an American graduate of Oxford, is still considered a wastrel playboy by his father, owner of a giant lumber company in the American northwest. To prove he is a man his father sends him there to take charge of a large lumber camp, filled with brawny he-men who spend their time drinking, gambling and brawling when not cutting timber. Once there, Jack establishes himself by winning a fight against "Dum-Dum" Pete, the toughest man in those parts. Along the way he sees to it that a needed operation is performed on the camp's mascot, a crippled young boy, and saves his sweetheart, Marie O'Nei, that daughter of a rival lumber company, from drowning in the river when the spring thaw causes an ice-break flood.

Then she returns to settle with her husband once and for all.
- Molly Kelly wants to marry a millionaire. When she runs into Andy Charles, heir to a restaurant fortune, she jumps at the chance and marries him. Andy's father is furious and disinherits them. Andy tries his hand at ditch digging to support his wife, but that doesn't work out.

- Sweedie, the cook, decides that it would be nice to learn to swim, so goes to a "dry land" swimming class for instruction. She is thrown out of the class after fighting with several of the members and goes home, where she fills the bathtub with water and proceeds to learn to swim. After the water is knee deep in the room, she also practices a little fancy diving. By this time the plaster has begun to fall on the floor below, where a card game is going on. The members of the family rush upstairs and find Sweedie having the time of her life. A riot call is sent in to the police, and when they arrive they find Sweedie holding off the entire family with a club. They all then chase her out of the house and finally capture her in the lake.

He is then put in charge of the lighting in an amusement park being built under Dorothy's supervision, and trouble comes many directions, guided by Dorothy's cad fiancée who wants to make the stock in the project worthless so he can buy it cheaply.

- The lookout girl for the notorious Mowbray gang tries to leave her gangster past by marrying a wealthy doctor, but her past catches up with her very quickly when the gang finds her.
- Fatty steals a ride on a train, discovered, and put off in the middle of nowhere. He stumbles along over the hot desert and finally passes out. A very plump Indian woman finds him and takes him to her tepee, woos him and finally, in desperation, Fatty agrees to marry her. While the tribe is preparing for the marriage ceremony, Fatty attempts to escape but is caught.
- This film holds up its end as a farce - it even has a story to tell, that of a young couple secretly married long enough to have a baby "more than a year old," which they dare not acknowledge. There is plot enough to supply a high comedy, but it soon becomes submerged in the swift farce, too swift at times - one cannot follow the lines of interest - but rich with material. It is a good farce, well calculated to maintain the Keystone reputation.
