- Sunny Malhotra (Vivek Oberoi) is a 28 year old writer who has carved a name for himself as a popular agony uncle, named Gyan Guru, writing for the Times of Hindustan. Sunny also managed to bag a prestigious screenplay writing project for the most happening film director, Karan Johar. A bit of a cynic, he believes he is a self-made man and that whatever he has achieved in life is due to his own hard work and nobody else's. His cynicism is extended to his views about marriage to his fiancé Jenny (Ayesha Takia) and to the festival of Diwali too. Just as Sunny is cynical about life, Michael Burnett (Boman Irani) is optimistic about it. 51 year old Michael is a simple minded man, almost childlike and has recently landed job as a pizza delivery boy at Mummy's Pizza. Michael has sort of an inclination to lose every job he has ever had in 2 days flat. This time, however, he vows to keep this one no matter what. On the eve of Diwali, Sunny has loads of stuff to do and very little time to do it. He has to meet his screenplay deadline, he has to get rid of Pandey (Saurabh Shukla) his irritatingly intrusive next door neighbor and he's got to avoid his editor's telephone calls who is livid that he's bunking work. But more importantly he needs to get Jenny out of the way because he has a date with Maya (Mahima Chaudhary), a South Indian superstar who he has been in love with since as long as he can remember. In this confusion, Sunny forgets that there is no food in his bachelor pad and orders a pizza that Michael is given the task of delivering. And what Michael delivers to Sunny is so much more than just a pizza. Sunny is home delivered life's simple lessons right to his doorstep.

- Criminal don-aspiring politician Shabbirbhai runs a collection agency in Mumbai's Bhendi Bazar called 'Good Luck Recovery'. These include defaulters like Anil and his wife, Neha Sharma; Chandrakant and his son, Arjun Desai; DJ Ryan Breganza and his fickle girlfriend, Nancy; and Prerna Joshi, who all have borrowed huge amounts but are unable to return them. All four will soon realize that they are up against a lot more than just a regular collection agency, and their lives will soon be turned upside down.
- Assistant Commissioner of Police, Uday Dhirendra Thakur, is a rogue cop, known for his relentlessness in pursuing criminals, and bringing them to justice, failing which, killing them in false encounters. Avantika is a poised, sophisticated, and intelligent young woman, and is not at all intimidated by Uday, and his persuasive methods. No previous information is available about Avantika, and her background cannot be verified. Then Uday comes to know that her mother was in an asylum for the insane, and when confronted Avantika loses her poise, and reveals a character that she may have been concealing from others, including herself.

He arranges to house them in an under-construction sky-caper, makes a temporary temple for them, and arranges for devotees to line-up, pay large sums of money and get their blessings. Pardesi, the devotees, pimps and others witness that whenever Pagla bangs the drum something happens to Pagli and she acts as though possessed, makes predictions, conjures miracles, death and destruction to enemies. What Pardesi does not know is that Pagla is just an alias for Shamsher Singh, a dreaded bandit, wanted for several murders, who may be abusing Pagli's sixth sense, and pretending to be a madman to elude the police.

- Bajrangi and his sister, Sharda, lives in a small village in Central India, and have been orphaned at a very young age. Unable to pay this amount, and stand the taunts of villagers, the siblings, accompanied by their Kaki, re-locate to Bombay. Upon arrival, they find a small apartment and Bajrangi goes looking for employment. While walking, he is recognized by several people, who call him "Sikander". No one believes him when he refutes this, instead he is abducted by an underworld Don, K.K., and subjected to shock treatment. Thereafter, he is abducted by another gang-leader, Dhurjan, and severely beaten. All the gangsters want is a diary that was purportedly written by Sikander. Bajrangi escapes, only to have the thugs follow and abduct him, as well as Sharda, and it looks it is going to be the end of the road for the siblings at the hands of gangsters - for whom killing is a daily routine.

Will Mridula find herself in the same situation as Swati, and end up dead, with her case being shown as "suicide" and closed?
