Edmund H. North Award
  • This is a honorary award.
  • The award had been formerly known as the Founders Award.
  • Since 2003 the award is given at an extra ceremony, the Annual Writers Guild of America, West, Honorary Service Awards.

Evelyn F. Burkey Award
  • This is a honorary award. It is given in memory of the first Executive Director of the Guild, Evelyn F. Burkey.

Jean Renoir Award for Screenwriting Achievement
  • This is a honorary award and successor to the Laurel Award for Screen Writing Achievement.

John Merriman Award

Laurel Award for Screen Writing Achievement
  • This is a honorary award and the WGA's highest honor to hand out. It is superseded by the Jean Renoir Award for Screenwriting Achievement.

Laurel Award for TV Writing Achievement
  • This is a honorary award and WGA's highest TV honor.

Meltzer Award
  • This is a honorary award.
  • Originally created after WWII to honor those writers killed during the war, the award was presented four times to recognize scripts which best depicted "problems of the American scene." Yet the prestigious award was soon shrouded in the looming shadow of the U.S. House Committee on Un-American Activities hearings, when Meltzer was named and posthumously blacklisted, signaling the end of the award in 1951 for forty years.
