Subtle movies which have "that something"
This is a list of movies that are, perhaps, slow in motion but strong on the emotional side. These movies have that something special in them(well, for me at least). That atmosphere which leaves me sitting after the movie in a strange mood. There is no particular order.

- DirectorStephen DaldryStarsMeryl StreepNicole KidmanJulianne MooreThe story of how the novel "Mrs. Dalloway" affects three generations of women, all of whom, in one way or another, have had to deal with suicide in their lives. One of my absolute favorites. This one also has an amazing score by Philip Glass.
- DirectorSofia CoppolaStarsBill MurrayScarlett JohanssonGiovanni RibisiA faded movie star and a neglected young woman form an unlikely bond after crossing paths in Tokyo. After watching this for the very firts time I was in a kind of hypnosis. The end credits rolled and ended but I couldn't move or stop staring at the tv screen. 20 minutes passed before I could get out of that emotional zone which this movie created.
- DirectorKar-Wai WongStarsTony Leung Chiu-waiMaggie CheungSiu Ping-LamTwo neighbors form a strong bond after both suspect extramarital activities of their spouses. However, they agree to keep their bond platonic so as not to commit similar wrongs.Such a beautiful film.
- DirectorKim Ki-dukStarsLee Seung-yunJae HeeHyuk-ho KwonA transient young man breaks into empty homes to partake of the vacationing residents' lives for a few days.Quietly beautiful movie. And by quietly I mean it literally. The characters don't speak but few lines in this whole movie. At first it's a little disturbing but once you get used to the silence you don't even notice it anymore.
- DirectorKar-Wai WongStarsNorah JonesJude LawNatalie PortmanA young lonely woman takes a soul-searching journey across America to resolve her questions about love while encountering a series of off-beat characters along the way.Very slow but lovely film. I remember when I saw this at the movie theatre that many people walked out of the theatre before the middle of the movie. And I suppose it's because of the slowness. But I loved it. Norah Jones's song "Come away with me" which is played in the film describes it perfectly.
