- DirectorJacques DorfmannStarsChristopher LambertKlaus Maria BrandauerMax von SydowAn entire nation's destiny lies in the hands of one man.Terrible Movie with Christopher Lambert and Max Von Sydow.
You kind of expect it to be some sword and sorcery movie and you end up with a really bad version of Braveheart.
3 out of 10 - DirectorTristram ShapeeroStarsJimmy CarrJimmy Carr delivers more of his cynical take on life's little absurdities in his trademark deadpan style in this live stand-up release.Like every show from Jimmy Carr, it's very good.
This stands for all shows from Jimmy Carr.
7 out of 10 - DirectorPaul WheelerStarsJimmy CarrJimmy Carr: Making People Laugh features over two hours of material that's too rude for TV.8 out of 10
- DirectorEric ValetteStarsEdward BurnsShannyn SossamonAna Claudia TalancónSeveral people start receiving voice-mails from their future selves - messages which include the date, time, and some of the details of their deaths. The myth is that all remakes are crap.
This doesn't bust that myth as it is so predictable, even if you haven't seen the original.
And the lack of habillity of the actors doesn't help it.
3 out of 10 - DirectorPeter MacDonaldStarsJason James RichterMelody KayJack BlackA young boy must restore order when a group of bullies steal the magical book that acts as a portal between Earth and the imaginary world of Fantasia. It does not surprise me that this movie was on IMDB bottom 100.
The movie is nothing compared to the first, and even the second is better.
Not even Jack Black could save this movie.
3 out of 10 - DirectorPaul WheelerStarsJimmy CarrJimmy Carr: Being Funny is packed with over 100 minutes of brand new material, including too-rude-for-TV jokes, hilarious heckling, and even better put-downs. Jimmy pushes the boundaries of comedy and delivers a spectacular show.8 out of 10
- DirectorGeorge MillerGary EckDavid PeersStarsElijah WoodRobin WilliamsPinkMumble's son, Erik, is struggling to realize his talents in the Emperor Penguin world. Meanwhile, Mumble and his family and friends discover a new threat their home -- one that will take everyone working together to save them.I got to say that i am not the biggest fan of the first one, and i liked it more than this.
The story is not bad but i thought that a duology created by the man o brought us the Mad Max trilogy could have been better do.
5 out of 10 - DirectorTerence FisherStarsPeter CushingChristopher LeeMichael GoughWhen Jonathan Harker rouses the ire of Count Dracula for accepting a job at the vampire's castle under false pretenses, his friend Dr. Van Helsing pursues the predatory villain. This movie had been hyped so much for me that i had to see it.
The hype was so right.
Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing do a tremendous job as Dracula and Van Helsing, giving a great movie, when it's joined with great righting and great directing by Terence Fisher.
8 out of 10 - DirectorPeter HewittStarsKeanu ReevesAlex WinterWilliam SadlerA tyrant from the future creates evil android doubles of Bill and Ted and sends them back to eliminate the originals.I'm not american so Bill and Ted weren't so big to me as they were for other people but i still got to enjoy it.
It's dum at times but quite enjoyable.
5 out of 10 - DirectorJonathan MostowStarsMatthew McConaugheyBill PaxtonHarvey KeitelA German submarine is boarded by disguised American submariners trying to capture their Enigma cipher machine.Submarine movies are not my favourite type of movie, but this is one of the few that caught my eye, because it stars Harvey Keitel and Bill Paxton.
It's an ok movie, not even comming close to Crimson Tide.
5 out of 10 - DirectorTom ShadyacStarsRobin WilliamsDaniel LondonMonica PotterThe true story of a heroic man, Hunter "Patch" Adams, determined to become a medical doctor because he enjoys helping people. He ventured where no doctor had ventured before, using humour and pathos. This is a movie that alot of people hate, and i got to say that i get why people hate it.
Although, i don't.
It's not that i like it but my rating is just for the time that i watched it, because i got to rewatch some parts, and i see that it's not as good as i felt the first time i saw it.
7 out of 10 - DirectorHal AshbyStarsJeff BridgesRosanna ArquetteAlexandra PaulFormer police detective Matthew Scudder, still recovering from his alcohol addiction, is seemingly drawn into the Los Angeles criminal underworld after stumbling upon a local drug ring.I'm a big fan of Jeff Bridges and this movie got my interest as it is a movie that you don't see Jeff Bridge do that often.
Andy Garcia is also good in this.
Overall is a decent movie.
5 out of 10 - DirectorPeter CallowRoss NobleStarsRoss NobleStand-up comedian Ross Noble takes his unique brand of humor Down Under. A live show recorded in front of a rapturous Aussie audience.I discovered Ross Noble on IMDB as a suggestion.
I didn't know what kind of humour to expect, but i got plesantly surprised, as Ross Noble showed himself to be very funny and very inviting to his audience.
8 out of 10 - DirectorAng LeeStarsChow Yun-FatMichelle YeohZiyi ZhangA young Chinese warrior steals a sword from a famed swordsman and then escapes into a world of romantic adventure with a mysterious man in the frontier of the nation.I get why people like this movie.
I thought it was very well directed and the acting helped my interest in it, since Michelle Yeoh and Chow Yun Fat are in this movie.
But for some reason i didn't like it as much as i expected.
I liked Hero, with Jet Li, more.
5 out of 10 - DirectorJames IsaacDavid BlythStarsLance HenriksenBrion JamesRita TaggartDetective McCarthy finally catches "Meat Cleaver Max", a serial killer, who promises revenge during his execution. Nonetheless, a parapsychologist tells the detective that the only hope of stopping Max for good is to destroy his spirit. This movie is crazy.
There is no other way to put it.
Lance Henriksen is the best thing about it, since this movie is clearly a rip off of Nightmare on Elm Street.
The music, the all idea of the villain, the cheesy one liners of the villain, are all obviously taken from Nightmare on Elm Street.
4 out of 10 - DirectorMichael CurtizStarsErrol FlynnOlivia de HavillandLionel AtwillAfter treating a Monmouth rebel against King James II in 1680s England, a young Irish doctor is exiled as a slave to Jamaica where he captures a Spanish galleon and becomes the most feared pirate of the Caribbean. The first movie starring Errol Flynn that i saw.
The fact that it is a pirate movie got me interested, but i thought i'de like it more that i did.
5 out of 10 - DirectorBronwen HughesStarsThomas JaneDavid O'HaraDexter FletcherThe life and career of Andre Stander, a South African police officer turned bank robber.I think Thomas Jane is at times a good actor, so this movie was a movie that i needed to see.
Thomas Jane gives a great performance with, as far as i know, a convincing South African accent.
The story is good, being based on a true story, and the actor do a good job. - DirectorJesse PeretzStarsPaul RuddElizabeth BanksZooey DeschanelA comedy centered on an idealist who barges into the lives of his three sisters. This was a movie that for some reason i missed on 2011, and shame on me.
There are so many people that i like in this movie, that i couldn't go any longer without seing it.
The story is good, funny and, when it needs to,serious.
7 out of 10 - DirectorBen BowmanStarsGodfreyWith his signature wide-eyed humor and treasure trove of voices Godfrey asks the questions that plague the depths of our being.Godfrey does a decent stand up,although some times the jokes are a bit lacking and the delivery is a bit dated.
5 out of 10 - DirectorChristophe GansStarsSamuel Le BihanMark DacascosJérémie RenierIn 18th-century France, the Chevalier de Fronsac and his Native American friend Mani are sent to the Gevaudan province at the king's behest to investigate the killings of hundreds by a mysterious beast.I tought this movie would be about wolves, but no.
The monster is made in cgi, and the focus of the movie is more on the actors than on the creature.
Vincent Cassel is good as usual and Mark Dacascos is not as bad as i thought he would be.
5 out of 10 - DirectorJosef RusnakStarsWesley SnipesLochlyn MunroAthena KarkanisAgent Neil Shaw is called out of retirement and finds himself in the midst of a plot to assassinate several leading Senators with himself set-up to take the rap for a recent killing. The reason why i saw this movie is because it was on tv.
Snipes in not good, the story is not good, the acting of some of the actors it's pretty bad at times, giving us a bad movie.
4 out of 10 - DirectorJoe CornishStarsJohn BoyegaJodie WhittakerAlex EsmailA teen gang in South London defend their block from an alien invasion.I was surprised when i saw this movie, as i expected a cheesy movie about teenagers and aliens.
But i was so wrong.
The monsters, instead of cgi,the usual for this type of movie nowadays, are men in suits, wich helps the movie in my opinion.
7 out of 10 - DirectorRocco UrbisciStarsGeorge CarlinIn "Complaints & Grievances," George Carlin's 12th HBO comedy special, taped at the Beacon Theater in New York on November 17, 2001 (ten weeks after 9/11), Carlin casts his usual jaundiced eye on America and its inhabitants. From the events of 9/11, to the Ten Commandments, to why you should never stop if you run someone over with your car, nothing is sacred to this 45-year veteran of the comedy scene. Self-help books, answering machines, gun nuts, visors, motivational seminars, pictures of children, singers with one name, hot air balloons and guys named Todd; take your pick. They all come in for a special, closer Carlin look in this latest hilarious collection.I saw this because George Carlin is a legend of stand up comedy, but sadly i didn't like it as much as i thought i would.
5 out of 10 - DirectorAlan GibsonStarsChristopher LeePeter CushingStephanie BeachamIn 1972 London - a century after his final battle with Professor Van Helsing - Count Dracula is resurrected by occultist Johnny Alucard, and goes after his archenemy's descendants.Another Hammer Studios Dracula movie, and this one is considered by many to be the worst.
I liked it because it brought back Peter Cushing, now as a descendent of Van Helsing.
The 70's do give a bit of crazyness to the movie, wich fits the movie.
6 out of 10 - DirectorGareth CarrivickStarsDave GormanDave Gorman tells the story of his attempt to find 10 'Googlewhacks' (websites containing two unique words when searched on Google) and meet their owners before his 32nd birthday, in order to win a bet.I received suggestions about the work of Dave Gorman, so i decided to give this one a shot.
I loved it, for the great story that it is, and the mix of stand up, true story and more.
