These are films that are written off as low quality or ignored by audiences but I feel they deserve more respect.

- DirectorWalter HillStarsMichael ParéDiane LaneRick MoranisA mercenary is hired to rescue his ex-girlfriend, a singer who has been kidnapped by a motorcycle gang.Great music and tight direction by Walter Hill add up to one my favourite action films. Pure entertainment. This is the film that holds the title of most watched movie in my collection. Maybe I was just the right age when I seen it for the first time but it still never ceases to enthrall me.
- DirectorJim SharmanStarsJessica HarperCliff De YoungRichard O'BrienJanet and Brad become contestants on a game show and wind up as captives.Though dismissed by the 'Rocky horror' crowd during it's initial release it has slowly began to develop it's own cult following. Brad and Janet (played by different actors than before) end up trapped in the town of Denton which is a massive T.V. studio. Several R.H.P.S alum return as new charaters to great effect. Fantastic music from start to finish.
- DirectorGary ShermanStarsJames FarentinoMelody AndersonJack AlbertsonSheriff Dan Gillis investigates eerie deaths in a sleepy coastal town.Creepy thriller with a amazing cast. This film gives off a eerie 'Twilight Zone' vibe. The ending provides a strong gut punch to the viewer.
- DirectorKevin TenneyStarsCathy PodewellAlvin AlexisHal HavinsTen teenagers party at an abandoned funeral parlor on Halloween night. When an evil force awakens, demonic spirits keep them from leaving and turn their gathering into a living Hell.Although it was a success on during it's original release and did inspire several sequels it doesn't seem to be listed to ever be listed on any top lists of the 80s. This film moves at a quick pace and has a strong cast and great effects.
- DirectorTed KotcheffStarsAndrew McCarthyJonathan SilvermanCatherine Mary StewartTwo idiots try to pretend that their murdered employer is really alive, leading the hitman to attempt to track him down to finish him off.Hilarious. This is one of those movies that never fail to put a smile on my face. The absurd premise is played to the hilt by a very game cast. If you watch this in the right frame of mind than you will have a good time with it.
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsEmily BrowningVanessa HudgensAbbie CornishA young girl institutionalized by her abusive stepfather retreats to an alternative reality as a coping strategy and envisions a plan to help her escape. This one may be disputed by many I feel it's the most unfairly neglected films of the last decade. Snyder did an amazing job creating a film that communicated many of it's ideas visually instead of cluttering it with dialogue that would over explain it's complex story. Much like Blade runner this film was trashed by critics and audiences for thin characters and over emphasis on style during it's initial release but hopefully it will eventually be embraced by audiences when the hostility and hype die down.
- DirectorLouis MalleStarsCathryn HarrisonTherese GiehseAlexandra StewartTo escape a gender war, a girl flees to a remote farmhouse and becomes part of an extensive family's unusual, perhaps even supernatural, lifestyle.Interesting variation on Alice in Wonderland done by a great artist at his most experimental. A bizarre story about a young girl driving through a war zone who finds an isolated house surrounded by feral children, a unicorn and tended to by twins and a bedridden old lady. Must be seen several times to really be appreciated.
- DirectorJean RollinStarsFranca MaïBrigitte LahaieJean-Marie LemaireA runaway criminal breaks into an eerie chateau, taking its two frightened chambermaids hostage. As night falls, a group of mysterious aristocratic women arrive and the criminal begins to realize the women are hiding a sinister secret.Spooky mood piece involving a bandit who tries to avoid the people he double-crossed by hanging out in a old house. He takes the two people he finds hostage but soon realizes that they are the ones in control of the situation. Although not for children this one makes good halloween viewing for adults who are in the mood for something different.
- DirectorWilliam SachsStarsBill AdlerCynthia WoodDennis BowenA small-town kid hears about the wild nights of cruising the boulevard in Van Nuys, California. He drives out there to check it out, and gets involved with drag racers, topless dancers and bikers.Very funny drive in fare about a young man who takes a trip to Van Nuys to take part in the current cruising culture. This is an excellent example of the teen sex comedy genre that borrows heavily from American Graffiti but adds large amounts of nudity to the mix. A lot of fun for anyone who stumbles across it.
- DirectorAlbert PyunStarsJohn StockwellMichael DudikoffMichele LittleAfter a nuclear war, Phillip Hammer and Marlowe Chandler have spent fifteen years on their own in a bunker, stuffed with junk from the 40s and old detective novels. Now, nineteen-years-old, they leave their shelter to find a world full of mutants, freaks, and cannibals. They become famous detectives in the struggle for the two keys that could fire the last nuclear weapon. The 40's detective style gets combined with an 80's post-apocalyptic thriller and we end up with one of the most unique and entertaining films I have ever found. Basically two young men who have spent most of their lives in a bomb shelter venture out into the wasteland after taking on the gumshoe personas of Philip and Marlowe. They end up in possession of keys to the last unfired missle silo in the world and everyone is on their tails. Seek this one out.
