- DirectorAlan RudolphStarsBruce WillisNick NolteAlbert FinneyA rich car dealer is losing his mind. His son lives in the bomb shelter. His suicidal wife has an affair with his transvestite sales manager. No one seems to like this film because 1.) It veers slightly from the novel, which drives true Vonnegut fans BATTY and 2.) Those who don't read or like Vonnegut often fail to connect with it. In my case, I love Vonnegut & his approach, but had never read THIS book. I thought it was wacky & brilliant! Willis & Nolte should do more comedy!
- DirectorTerry GilliamStarsMichael PalinHarry H. CorbettJohn Le MesurierA young peasant with no interest in adventure or fortune is mistaken for the kingdom's only hope when a horrible monster threatens the countryside.A Python-like film, with saome Python personnel, it's a cool little comedy with some legit horror moments.
- DirectorDaniel TaplitzStarsBen CrossMaryam d'AboKeith SzarabajkaAt a museum in Mexico City arrives a perfectly preserved mummy. It is a vampire that died years ago and who returns to life in search of his lost love Angelique. Unfortunately for him, the young woman has met and fallen in love with a doctor who supplies her with the blood she needs to resist the vampire attacks.Overlooked vampire flick set in Mexico. I think it's awesome...and just a touch tongue-in-cheek.
- DirectorDavid LeanStarsCharles LaughtonJohn MillsBrenda de BanzieWidower Henry Hobson refuses to let his three daughters get married because he doesn't want to pay settlements, so they'll just have to outsmart him.Laughton was brilliant in everything he ever did...and this is one of his unsung jewels. A brilliant little comedy!

- DirectorRobert BallardGraham HurleyNicolas NoxonStarsMartin SheenRobert BallardDudley FosterDr. Robert Ballard and his team of researchers explore the remains of the 1912 wreckage of the ill-fated RMS Titanic 2 1/2 miles deep in the Atlantic Ocean. For my money, this is still the best Titanic film on celuloid...as heartwrenching & dramatic as any of the victionalized films.
- DirectorDaniel SpringenStarsPete PenuelAllison AdamsBrian MinyardA wealthy big game hunter leads a team of expert archaeologists into the jungle on what appears to be a fact-finding expedition. However, when they discover a deserted campsite and gory human remains, curiosity quickly turns to terror.Surprisingly solid B horror flick.
- DirectorCampbell ScottStarsValentina de AngelisJoan AllenSam ElliottAn eleven-year-old girl watches her father come down with a crippling depression. Over one summer, she learns answers to several mysteries, and comes to terms with love and loss.It literally IS off the map...no onew has heard of it, since it was delayed in production & essentially went straight to video. Sam Elliot is brilliant as always. A wonderful little film.
- DirectorMaria RipollStarsHector ElizondoJacqueline ObradorsTamara MelloA Mexican-American master chef and father to three daughters has lost his taste for food, but not for life.In the Royal Tenenbaums, Amelie school, this is a very nice dyasfunctional family love story.
- DirectorLasse HallströmStarsKevin SpaceyJulianne MooreJudi DenchAn emotionally beaten man with his young daughter moves to his ancestral home in Newfoundland to reclaim his life. This COULD be the best film of the 2000s sao far...certainly the most underrated! Hallstrom is my pick top top director today & he really turns in stellar work here.
- DirectorMichael ClancyStarsRay RomanoJesse BradfordHank AzariaA black comedy that follows three generations of a family, who come together for the funeral of the patriarch - unveiling a litany of family secrets and covert relationships.Nice little comedy in the Royal Tenenbaums, Garden State mold...just a dash of toilet humor, but also some more sophisticated laughs...and some poignancy. Zoey is a real charmer.
- DirectorElliot SilversteinStarsJames BrolinKathleen LloydJohn MarleyA small desert town is terrorized by a powerful, seemingly possessed car, and the local sheriff may be the only one who can stop it.Fun horror flick about a big, black Lincoln, possessed by some Native American demon, running down victims in a desert town.
- DirectorJoseph SargentStarsBrian DennehyDavid StrathairnMichael TuckerThe use of the atomic bomb to end WWII was one of the most controversial events in human history. This Emmy-winning 1989 miniseries brings the conflicts to life in wrenching performances by a stellar cast.Very nice look at the Manhattan project. David Strathairn rocks as Robert Oppenheimer.
- DirectorGiles FosterStarsJames WilbyAlan BatesEileen AtkinsA chronicle of the life of George VI, who was forced to become King following the abdication of his brother Edward VIII, and his relationship with his wife, Elizabeth.Covers a little of the territory covered in The King's Speech. It's really the love story of George VI and Elizabeth...takes a different approach to the Edward VIII abdication. I think it's outstanding.
- StarsTom BerengerSam ElliottGary BuseyUndersecretary of the Navy Theodore Roosevelt resigns to form a volunteer militia unit called "The Rough Riders" to fight in the Spanish-American War.Originally a mini-series, this really captures personalities like Theodore & Edith Roosevelt, Leonard Wood, Fighting Joe Wheeler, Bucky O'Neill and Black Jack Pershing.
