2019 marks the 40th anniversary of the death of John Wayne, nicknamed the "Duke", the legendary American actor and filmmaker who was among the top box office draws for more than three decades. John Wayne won numerous awards in his career and received the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in 1966. He was perhaps best known for his roles in westerns and war movies.
