Linkin Park is an American rock band from Agoura Hills, California. The band's current lineup comprises vocalist/rhythm guitarist/keyboardist Mike Shinoda, lead guitarist Brad Delson, bassist Dave Farrell, DJ/turntables Joe Hahn and drummer Rob Bourdon, all of whom are founding members. Vocalists Mark Wakefield and Chester Bennington are former members of the band. Categorized as alternative rock, Linkin Park's earlier music spanned a fusion of heavy metal and hip hop, while their later music features more electronica and pop elements.
Formed in 1996, Linkin Park rose to international fame with their debut studio album, Hybrid Theory (2000), which became certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Released during the peak of the metal scene, the album's singles' heavy airplay on MTV led the singles "One Step Closer", "Crawling" and "In the End" all to chart highly on the US Mainstream Rock chart. The latter-most also crossed over to the nation's Billboard Hot 100. Their second album, Meteora (2003), continued the band's success. The band explored experimental sounds on their third album, Minutes to Midnight (2007). By the end of the decade, Linkin Park was among the most successful and popular rock acts.
The band continued to explore a wider variation of musical types on their fourth album, A Thousand Suns (2010), layering their music with more electronic sounds. The band's fifth album, Living Things (2012), combined musical elements from all of their previous records. Their sixth album, The Hunting Party (2014), returned to a heavier rock sound, and their seventh album, One More Light (2017), was a substantially more pop-oriented record. Linkin Park went on a hiatus when longtime lead vocalist Bennington died in July 2017. In April 2022, Shinoda revealed the band was neither working on new music nor planning on touring for the foreseeable future, and have only released 20th-anniversary editions of their first two studio albums since Bennington's death.
Linkin Park is among the best-selling bands of the 21st century and the world's best-selling music artists, having sold over 100 million records worldwide. They have won two Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, 10 MTV Europe Music Awards and three World Music Awards. In 2003, MTV2 named Linkin Park the sixth-greatest band of the music video era and the third-best of the new millennium. Billboard ranked Linkin Park No. 19 on the Best Artists of the Decade list. In 2012, the band was voted as the greatest artist of the 2000s in a Bracket Madness poll on VH1. In 2014, the band was declared as "The Biggest Rock Band in the World Right Now" by Kerrang!- Actor

Mark Tremonti and Scott Phillips formed Alter Bridge in 2004 after a cooling of their relationship with the Creed singer (Creed has since reconciled and reunited). The new band hooked up with then ex-Creed bassist Brian Marshall and former Mayfield Four front man Myles Kennedy (who recently performed and co-wrote 2 songs on Slash's solo record and fronts his touring band).
In 2004, the band recorded their debut album, One Day Remains. It went gold in the United States and spawned three singles as well as the track "Metalingus," which was adopted by the WWE's Superstar Edge as his theme song later that year. In 2007 the band released the critically acclaimed second album, Blackbird, which included the hit singles "Rise Today" and "Watch Over You." The latter became a top 10 video as well as the featured song on VH-1's Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew. The band took to the road to promote their sophomore release, gaining more fans across the globe with their intense and powerful live show.
Lyrically, the first two albums are based on themes immersed in hope and perseverance in the face of adversity. On AB III, however, the theme has shifted. Kennedy states, "This record is definitely a departure from the last two albums in terms of its subject matter. It touches on the thoughts and emotions of someone who has come to question everything that was once regarded as an absolute truth. It's the realization that everything you once believed in might not exist."
This journey is set into motion by the album's opening track, "Slip to the Void." The song's sparse and moody intro sets up the narrative as Kennedy's vocal and lyrics emerge. Tremonti adds, "'Slip To The Void,' has one of my favorite vocal performances ever by Myles, the song is really creepy and lets the listener know the vibe of the record. It's pretty dark, the intro really sucks you in."
The album then shifts gears into the metallic first single, "Isolation," showcasing Alter Bridge's ability to play and write aggressively while maintaining their signature melodic component. Tremonti states, "Melody is still the most important thing for us. There's no point in being heavy just for the sake of being heavy."
From the bombastic riffs of "Still Remains" to the brooding band favorite "Show Me A Sign," the album plays like a concept record whose main character is someone desperately struggling to find their place in a world steeped in doubt and emptiness. The track, "Words Darker Than Their Wings," is the final chapter of this tale. Kennedy says, "The lyric was inspired by a conversation I had with a good friend a while ago. It was the catalyst for the idea of having both Mark and I trade off on the lead vocal. I thought it would be a good way of making the differing points of view in the 'conversation' more effective. More importantly, I thought Mark sounded great singing it!"
While AB III is a record with a consistent theme, there are songs both musically and thematically that break away and touch on different human emotions. One of those moments is found in "Wonderful Life," a song that Kennedy claims was "An extremely emotional song to put together, it took a long time." He then adds, "The lyric was inspired by the idea that there will come a day when we all must say goodbye to the ones we love and hold dear in our hearts. Basically, I asked myself what would I want to say in that final moment, that last goodbye?"
The band enlisted Producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette (Iggy Pop, Incubus), to capture the vision the band had for AB III. Baskette, described by Tremonti as "like a fifth band-member," was also at the helm for the recording of Blackbird. Kennedy says," Over the years we have definitely established a bond with Elvis. We trust his instincts, he knows how to bring out the best in us sonically and creatively."
AB III is an incredibly intense and dynamic album proving Alter Bridge continues to grow and evolve with each recording. "We went into the process of putting the record together with a lot of confidence," Tremonti reveals, "but we didn't go into it looking to be commercial, or to have radio singles. We just wanted this to be an album that pleased us artistically, through and through."- Composer

Bon Jovi is an American rock band formed in 1983 in Sayreville, New Jersey. It consists of singer Jon Bon Jovi, keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres, guitarist Phil X, and bassist Hugh McDonald. Original bassist Alec John Such quit the band in 1994, and longtime guitarist and co-songwriter Richie Sambora left in 2013. The band have been credited with " the gap between heavy metal and pop with style and ease".
In 1984 and 1985, Bon Jovi released their first two albums and their debut single "Runaway" managed to crack the Top 40. In 1986, the band achieved widespread success and global recognition with their third album, Slippery When Wet, which sold over 20 million copies and included three Top 10 singles, two of which reached No. 1 ("You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin' on a Prayer") Their fourth album, New Jersey (1988), was also very successful, selling over 10 million copies and featuring five Top 10 singles (a record for a glam metal album), two of which reached No. 1 ("Bad Medicine" and "I'll Be There for You"). After the band toured and recorded extensively during the late 1980s, culminating in the 1988-1990 New Jersey Tour, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora released successful solo albums in 1990 and 1991, respectively.
In 1992, the band returned with the double-platinum Keep the Faith. This was followed by their biggest-selling and longest-charting single "Always" (1994) and the album These Days (1995), which proved to be a bigger success in Europe than in the United States, producing four Top Ten singles in the United Kingdom. Following a second hiatus, their 2000 album Crush, particularly the lead single, "It's My Life", successfully introduced the band to a younger audience, and the band considered this their comeback album. The band followed up with Bounce in 2002. The platinum albums Have a Nice Day (2005) and Lost Highway (2007) saw the band incorporate elements of country music into some of the songs, including the 2006 single "Who Says You Can't Go Home", which won the band a Grammy Award and became the first single by a rock band to reach No. 1 on the country charts. The Circle (2009) marked a return to the band's rock sound. The band also enjoyed great success touring, with both the 2005-2006 Have a Nice Day Tour and 2007-2008 Lost Highway Tour ranking among the Top 20 highest-grossing concert tours of the 2000s. After recording and releasing Because We Can in 2013, lead guitarist Richie Sambora left the band just before an April concert during the supporting tour to spend more time with his family. The band released their first studio album without Sambora, Burning Bridges, in 2015 and the follow-up album This House Is Not For Sale in 2016, the tour for which encompassed 2017-2019. Their most recent album 2020 (2020) was re-worked to include songs inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic and George Floyd protests; its supporting tour was delayed to 2022.
Bon Jovi has released 16 studio albums, five compilations and three live albums. They have sold more than 130 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling American rock bands, and performed more than 2,700 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans. Bon Jovi was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006, and into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018. The band received the Award of Merit at the American Music Awards in 2004, and Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora were inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009.- Actor

Coldplay are a British rock band formed in London in 1996. They consist of vocalist and pianist Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, drummer Will Champion and creative director Phil Harvey. They met at University College London and began playing music together from 1996 to 1998, first calling themselves Pectoralz and then Starfish.
After independently releasing an extended play, Safety (1998), the band signed with Parlophone in 1999. Their debut album, Parachutes (2000), included their breakthrough single "Yellow" and received a Brit Award for British Album of the Year, a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album and a Mercury Prize nomination. Their second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002), won the same accolades and included the singles "The Scientist" and "Clocks", with the latter winning a Grammy Award for Record of the Year. Troubled production of the band's third album, X&Y (2005), saw them explore new musical territory with their fourth album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008); both were the best-selling albums of the year worldwide in 2005 and 2008 respectively, topping the charts in over 30 countries. Viva la Vida also won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album and the band's first Album of the Year nomination, while its title track became the first single by a British group to top the charts in both the United Kingdom and United States in the 21st century.
Since then, Coldplay further diversified their sound with the subsequent releases Mylo Xyloto (2011), Ghost Stories (2014), A Head Full of Dreams (2015), Everyday Life (2019) and Music of the Spheres (2021). Each album presented a unique theme and added new musical styles to the band's original repertoire, including electronica, ambient, pop, R&B, funk, classical, jazz fusion, and progressive rock. They are also known for "euphoric" live performances, with critics stating are when the band "make the most sense". To celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2018, a career-spanning documentary directed by Mat Whitecross was premiered at selected cinemas, featuring previously unseen behind-the-scenes footage.
With 100 million albums sold worldwide, Coldplay are the most successful band of the 21st century and one of the best-selling music acts of all time. According to Fuse, they are also the sixth-most awarded group in history. Other notable achievements include the sixth-highest-grossing tour of all time, three of the 50 highest-selling albums ever in the United Kingdom, the most number-one records in the country without ever missing the top, most nominations and wins for a band in Brit Awards history, and becoming the first British group to debut at number-one on the Billboard Hot 100. Coldplay are considered one of the most influential bands of the 21st century as well, with Forbes describing them as the standard for the current alternative scene. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame included A Rush of Blood to the Head on their "200 Definitive Albums" list and the single "Yellow" is part of their "Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll" exhibition for being one of the most successful and important recordings in the industry. In spite of their popularity and impact, Coldplay have earned a reputation as polarizing music icons.- Actor

Fans of heavy metal will definitely know of a band called 'Disturbed' hailing from Chicago, Illinois. What fans may not know however,, is that 'Disturbed' was originally called 'Brawl', and had a different vocalist singer; Erich Awalt. but still had Dan Donegan, Mike Wengren, and Steve "Fuzz" Kmak. Soon though after releasing a small demo tape, Erich Awalt left the band leaving the other members wither a vocalist, so they posted a ad in a popular magazine called the 'Illinois Entertainer'; and a man named David Draiman answered their ad, now that they had a singer and the other band members were very impressed with their new singer. David Draiman officially joined the band in 1996 and thereafter the band was renamed to 'Disturbed'. With their new singer in tow, 'Disturbed set out to record a two three-track demo tape cassettes that had the songs, "The Game", "Down with the Sickness", and "Meaning of Life", on the first cassette tape and "Want," "Stupify," and "Droppin' Plates" on their second tape. Hailing from Tulsa OK, Hanson the band arrived on the radio in 1997 with a #1 hit - "MMMBop" - which helped them sell more than 12 million copies of their debut album. Energizing a new wave of bubblegum pop, by virtue of their youth at the time (Isaac was 16, Taylor 14 & Zac 11), they were blamed for ruining the radio landscape yet were ironically over shadowed by the very acts that stole away the youthful fans they had awakened.
Originally known as The Hanson Brothers (later becoming just "Hanson" to avoid confusion with the hockey players), they began writing and singing as young as six years old, and first performed as a band when they were six, nine and eleven. They produced two independent albums which included originial compositions before signing with Mercury Records in 1996.
Since then they have impressed music critics and industry insiders with their talents including a signature sound with Rock-n-roll influences, a well grounded mature attitude and a wise business savvy. By using the internet, stategic public appearances (including a couple of movie and TV cameos which have landed them on this site), and a recent tour playing acoustic only shows in intimate club venues, they have been chipping away at a public image which has misunderstood them.
Now at ages 18, 21 & 23, their latest endeavors include a live concert which was released to theaters in a one day event, a 2004 CD, starting their own record label (3cG Records) and a documentary on the record industry which may be shown in some film festivals before being released to DVD.- Actor

Hoobastank formed in 1994 Agoura Hills, California. Vocalist Douglas Robb met guitarist Daniel Estrin at a battle of the bands held at the local high school. Both of their bands were performing, and after both bands had broken up, they decided to team up. At first, Robb was a bassist, but he had a decent singing voice and was encouraged to try singing. After high school, they decided to try to find other band members. Bassist Markku Lappalainen knew Daniel Estrin from his previous band and was called up with the opportunity to join their band. Drummer Chris Hesse was found when the members placed an ad in the local "Recycler", which was a local music magazine. He replied, and Hoobastank was born. Their first show was performed in Doug Robb's backyard in Agoura Hills. A fellow band also performed at the show, Incubus. Around 1998, Hoobastank independently released their first CD, "They sure don't make basketball shorts like they used too", which was a collection of demos. Soon after, Hoobastank signed on with Island Records and released their first official album "Hoobastank" which had hits such as "Running Away" and "Crawling in the Dark". In 2003, Hoobastank released their second official album, "The Reason", which had the enormously huge song of the same name. Recently, Hoobastank was up for 3 Grammys; Song of the Year, Best rock album, and Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal, however, they failed to take any home. Lead singer of the Rap/Rock band P.O.D. (abbreviated for "Payable On Death"), Sonny Sandoval was born in 1974 in the town the band often refers to as "the southtown" in San Ysidro, California (which is between San Diego and Tijuana). Sonny, whose birth name is is Paul Sandoval was born to a Hawaiin mother and a Mexican-Italian father. He graduated high school in 1992 along with fellow band members Marcos Curiel and Noah Bernardo Jr. Noah (who is Sonny's cousin, and more commonly know as "Wuv") and Marcos (who is best friends with both Noah and Sonny) asked Sonny to join their rock band. Sonny at that time was in his own rap group, but agreed to join the band of his cousin and good friend. Sonny's mother had died when he was only 18, and his mother was only 37. From this experience Sonny felt a new way about life with strengthened his spirituality, which matched the legacy of the then band in progress. All three members grew up in San Ysidro, California and have been friends since high school. The fourth member of the band, Mark Daniels (more commonly know as "Traa") was obtained while Sonny, Wuv, and Marcos, were watching him play at a Los Angeles club. They felt they "had to have him in the band" when they heard how all four of them sounded together when they played their music. Mark was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up with sounds of James Brown, but he had made the move to the San Diego area after being asked to join P.O.D. The band was signed to Atlantic records in 1998, after independently producing their own records for six years prior. P.O.D. came out with their first popular CD titled "The Fundamental Elements of Southtown" in 1999, which produced a lot of popular singles such as "Rock the Party" and "Southtown." In 2001 they came out with their sophomore album which became their biggest global success called "Satellite" which was scheduled to be released on 9/11/01. They faced a tough choice that day of whether to go ahead and release it that day. Today all four members are married men and live in the San Diego area. Sonny still lives in his home town of San Ysidro, California with his wife and daughter Nevaeh (heaven spelled backwards, and born in 2000).- Music Artist

U2 has been perhaps the biggest music act in the world since the late 1980s to the current day. They take prominent stands on human rights issues, expressed through their lyrics and other public statements and actions. The band's lead singer, Bono, has become quite prominent in charity movements and has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. The band consists of Bono, lead singer and songwriter; The Edge, lead guitar, keyboards, vocals; Adam Clayton, bass guitar; Larry Mullen Jr., drums. Their manager is Paul McGuinness (1978-2013).
The band formed in Dublin, Ireland, in 1976. The three members who strongly identified themselves as Christians (all except Clayton) decided to pursue and promote the band's career in a manner that would be consistent with their religious beliefs, which are heavy on social action. Theology professor Eugene Peterson says the band has "little patience with media-driven aspects of the Christian religion and a church and culture that shows little concern for justice and poverty and sickness".
The band's popular 1983 song "Sunday Bloody Sunday" commemorated the slaughter of innocent civilians during the Irish troubles. It called for a renunciation of violence, a sentiment that resonated greatly with the people of Ireland. Throughout the 1980s, the band used this song to campaign against the Irish Republican Army's (IRA) efforts to raise money to fuel continued armed conflict. The IRA sent a threat to U2 that if they continued their campaign, they would be kidnapped. The band continued anyway. The band's 1984 album "Unforgettable Fire" was named after paintings made by the survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombs. The album's songs "Pride" and "MLK" were both tributes to the modern-day leader they most admire, Martin Luther King. Another song, "Bad", was about heroin addiction, which was a serious problem in their hometown of Dublin at that time.
U2 were major participants in the historic and seminal "Live Aid" concert of 1985, which raised funds for relief from a severe drought in Ethiopia. The band was seen by many of the 1.5 billion people who viewed the concert on live television, and Bono's unscripted leap into the crowd captured the imagination of all. The more than 75 performing groups raised some $250 million for the charity. In the months following the concert, U2's record sales skyrocketed and have never come back down. In 1986, the band headlined a promotional tour to support Amnesty International, and the effort reportedly tripled the organization's membership.
In the 1990s, the band's music and concerts mocked the excesses of commercialism. Some critics failed to understand that Bono's exaggerated on-stage personas during the "Zoo TV" tour were parodies, and thus concluded that the band had given in to what they in fact were criticizing. In the early 2000s, U2 shifted from stadium extravaganzas to performing in smaller arenas where they were closer to their audiences. In 2004, the band teamed up with iPod for an innovative promotional campaign.
U2 continues their work for charity and social action. They promoted the Northern Ireland Peace Accords, raised money for the survivors of the Omagh bombing, played in devastated Sarajevo following the war there, helped bolster the shaky economy of New York City by playing there following the September 11 terrorist attacks, participated in the Live 8 series of concerts to relieve Third World debt, and continue to promote the Make Poverty History campaign. Bono has become prominent in efforts to end poverty and seek relief from AIDS and promote trade for Africa. He has become quite celebrated for these efforts apart from his music and he often finds himself publicly hobnobbing with presidents and finance ministers to promote these charitable ends.
U2 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. By that year, they had won 22 Grammy awards, a historic record surpassed only by Stevie Wonder.- Music Artist
