Famous Faces on "Malcolm in the Middle" (Season One)!
A funny, offbeat, silly sitcom about a bizarrely dysfunctional family, the center of which is Malcolm, the middle of the two brothers who still live at home. Malcolm is a gifted young teen who tries to survive life with his dimwitted, dysfunctional family. With his older brother away at military school , Malcolm has a hard time coping with his family life and has more trouble when he starts receiving special treatment at school because he has been diagnosed as an intellectually advanced genius (he has an I.Q. of 165!) and placed in a special class for "gifted" students which includes his "new" best friend, 'Stevie Kenarban'.

A character actor who seems to pop up everywhere as the stereotypical cop, military officer and/or tough guy, von Bargen could turn in performances of stunning complexity when given the chance.
Daniel von Bargen was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 5, 1950 to Juanita (Bustle) and Donald L. von Bargen. Of German and English descent, he grew up in Cincinnati for most of his childhood before moving with his family to Southern California. He attended Purdue University, majoring in drama. He joined the Trinity Repertory Theatre in Providence, Rhode Island, after graduation and worked with them for many years. A breakthrough role in Mastergate (1992) by Larry Gelbart launched him onto Broadway. He starred in off-Broadway productions of "Beggars in the House of Plenty", "Macbeth", "The Cherry Orchard", "Hurlyburly", and "Uncle Vanya." On TV, he was best-known for his roles in Malcolm in the Middle (2000) and The West Wing (1999).
His role in The Postman (1997) as the Pineview sheriff who suspects Kevin Costner's character of being a fraud, was a stand-out as von Bargen infused the role with the pathos of a man caught between just trying to survive and wanting to believe in the hope the Postman represents. In an otherwise mediocre film, audiences were moved to tear up as his character shouts, "Ride Postman! Ride!", just before being put to death for assisting in the rebellion. His more evil side was brought out in Clive Barker's Lord of Illusions (1995) as he played Nix, an older, wiser, more magical and supernaturally gifted type of Charles Manson character rising from the dead to "murder the world"."Commandant Edwin Spangler"

Jade Carter grew up on a small farm near the town of Ponoka, Alberta, Canada. He spent most of his time riding his horse, playing sports or reading by the fireplace and losing himself in books. However, at the age of twelve he was severely injured in a tractor accident that left doctors doubting he would live, much less walk. After two months he overcame the odds and walked out the hospital doors to return home.
During his long recovery he learned many life lessons, the most important of which was Carpe Diem - life truly can be over in an instant, so live life to the fullest and seize the day. Finding a passion for acting and travel, Jade followed that tenet and was highly active in drama and sports throughout high school and later majored in acting at the Red Deer College Theatre Studies Performance program, graduating top of his class. After living in the mountain town of Banff for two years, and owning his own business for two more, he then made the move to Los Angeles to pursue acting and explore the world.
Only months after arriving in LA, Jade landed his first guest starring role on NBC's Hang Time (1995), followed immediately with roles in Malcolm in the Middle (2000), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997), Ladies Man (1999), Miracles (2003), Cold Case (2003), NCIS (2003), 24 (2001) and more. His biggest break came when he beat out several Russian actors to play the role of Sergei Zhukov, the Russian brother to the star of the CBS dramatic series JAG (1995) - a two episode arc that stretched into a four-year fan favorite role.
His acting career firmly established, Jade's wanderlust now demanded equal attention, so he and his wife jumped the pond to backpack Western Europe for three months (narrowly escaping death while jumping off a moving train in Italy!), immersing themselves in the history and culture of the ancient cities of London, Paris or Rome. A few short months after returning home, the far side of the world soon beckoned and Jade and his wife were off again, this time to live in a campervan and drive Australia for nine months, with no agenda but to explore the land.
Once back in Los Angeles, Jade refocused on his acting career, landing roles on House (2004), The Young and the Restless (1973), General Hospital (1963), Days of Our Lives (1965), and several feature films. However, whether on set or exploring the world, Jade continues to remember the hard lessons of his youth, living life to the fullest...and just being grateful to be here at all."Malcolm in the Middle":Season 1, Episode 7

Todd grew up riding horses and playing pickleball on a small farm outside of Newberg, Oregon where he loved performing in every school and community theater production available. After starring in Barefoot In The Park and Eastern Standard at Western Oregon State College his professor encouraged him to drive to Portland for a casting call for the movie Primal Fear, which earned him a callback. He began taking classes from future friend and mentor, beloved casting director Irene Cagen, who eventually helped convince him and his parents he could get work in Los Angeles.
His first professional job was a Kaiser Permanente commercial, filmed the the day before he ultimately moved to CA, in the same Portland hospital he had been admitted to exactly one year before for illness which had postponed his move.
Once in LA he worked package pickup at Sears while doing background and audience work before booking roles on a kids show, an after school special, and more commercials. These led to recurring roles on Lifetime's first scripted sitcom Maggie, and early single-camera comedy Malcolm in the Middle. Also several guest appearances on projects ranging ranging from Chicken Soup For The Soul to Galaxy Quest to Criminal Minds and True Detective. He would also land the Dodge Ram "Hemi guys" campaign for several popular ads alongside future Last Comic Standing winner Jon Reep.
After working with Greg Garcia on an episode of My Name Is Earl he went on to become the sausage-nunchuck wielding grocery employee "Frank" in his followup comedy Raising Hope.
More recently he can be seen in Perry Mason, Young Sheldon, and fellow Raising Hope alum Joseph Ahern's film The Disappearance of Toby Blackwood as the intrepid P.I. Gilbert Muldoon. That film also has the distinction of presenting the screen debut of Todd's pet of 20 yrs, African Grey parrot Bruce, in a speaking role.

Shooting in rural Australia, Drew met his wife, a make-up artist on the show.
Drew's feature films include Starship Troopers 2, The Marine, Mexican Sunrise, and 1408 with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson. In between, he has done several national commercials and has guest-starred on shows such as Popular, CSI, and Monk. Drew recently received rave reviews for his portrayal of Paul, the lonely troubadour in a monologue show "Skirts and Flirts" at the Hudson Mainstage Theatre in LA. Music has always been a passion for Drew and he plays the guitar and sings whenever he can.
Powell has had guest appearances on numerous television shows including Ray Donovan, Modern Family, True Blood, House, Leverage, ER, and Grey's Anatomy. He also recurred as FBI Agent Reede Smith, one of the seven Red John suspects on The Mentalist.

A legal resident of Australia and England, Drew lives with his wife Veronica in Los Angeles and Melbourne."Drew"

Marc Vann grew up in Virginia, on the water. Fishing, crabbing, buzzing around in small motorboats. Never had any interest in theater or acting until, while working on his MBA, was drawn to a mime workshop. (Always has been a big fan of silence.) That led to studying dance and movement, and his very first theater job doing West Side Story at Boulder's Dinner Theatre in Colorado. He married the actress playing Maria and moved to Chicago where he sucked in many plays but finally got his footing as an actor while being an arts administrator during the day. (Was business manager for the world renowned Hubbard Street Dance Chicago for 5 years.) His last shows in Chicago were "Flyovers" with William Petersen and playing Salvador Dali in "Hysteria" at Steppenwolf Theatre, directed by John Malkovich, who he also acted with in the stage production of "The Libertine". He began practicing yoga as soon as he moved to LA in 1998, which is the key to sanity in Los Angeles and the Entertainment Industry."Malcolm in the Middle":Season 1, Episode 9
