Instead, she was christened after Greek icon (actress and politician), Melina Mercouri, and confesses "I've been chasing my name ever since."
Awarded the "T.V. Week" Acting Scholarship, Melina studied drama at The Australian Film & Television Academy, and later at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (Sydney), appearing in film and television roles, and on the Sydney stage with great success as Desdemona in "Othello" (CUT Theatre); Célimène in "The Misanthrope" (Hair of the Dog); Antigone in "Antigone" (CUT Theatre); Linda Rotunda in "Savage in Limbo" (Hair of the Dog); Kitty Hawkins in "The Bold & The Reckless" (Sydney Fringe Festival - Winner, Best Actress); and the Nurse in "I've Had My Life" (Short 'n Sweet Festival), where Melina also made her directorial debut, and began writing for film.
After winning a U.S. Green Card and moving to America, Melina continued screenwriting through the UCLA Extension Writers' Program, whilst studying acting at The Beverly Hills Playhouse. She appeared as Marilyn Monroe in Justin Lin's "Finishing the Game: The Search for a New Bruce Lee", and was seen on the television series "Las Vegas."
Upon receiving the Women in Film Acting Mentorship, Melina wrote the short screenplay "Ingénue d'Or" which placed in the Shore Scripts Screenplay Competition, and was soon after produced (directed by, and starring Melina), winning the top prize "Best International Short Film" at the Berlin Shorts Film Festival (2021), and "Honorable Mention" at the Tokyo International Short Film Festival (2021), plus Melina won "Best Actress in a Drama" at the Best Actor and Director Awards, New York (2021.)
In 2018 Melina began the landmark collaboration with Mr. Spyros Mercouris to write the feature film biopic screenplay of his famous sister, Melina Mercouri. Mr. Mercouris called Melina Chiaverini "the chosen one", as he selectively passed the torch to her to tell his beloved sister's story. He felt Melina embodied his sister's spirit, and affectionately gave her the moniker "Melina B." Before his sad passing in 2018 (RIP), it was one Mr. Mercouris' last wishes that this film be made for his sister, believing she (and husband/director, Jules Dassin) would have wanted it. Indeed, Melina Mercouri herself once said her greatest fear was not to be remembered. As such, today, Melina, who owns the rights to this story, has the ongoing endorsement and exclusive support of the Mercouris family.
2020/21 is the 100th anniversary of Melina Mercouri's birth. It's also the year the feature screenplay "MELINA MERCOURI: I Was Born Greek" won the prestigious Scriptapalooza Fellowship. Since then, it has won/placed in over 20 additional international screenwriting competitions, including: "Best International Screenplay" at the London Independent Film Festival (2021); "Best Screenplay" at the London Greek Film Festival (2021); "Best Screenplay" at the Cyprus International Film Festival (2021); "Best Feature Script" at the Hollywood Gala Awards (2021); "Best Feature Screenplay" at the Venice Film Awards (2021); "Best Biographical Feature Script" at the Silk Road Film Awards, Cannes (2021); "Best Feature Script" at the Cult Critic Movie Awards (2021); and was most recently described as "one of the best spec. scripts out there" (Nicholl Fellowship, 2021.)
Melina Chiaverini sits as a Member on the SAG/AFTRA Honors and Tributes (HATS) Committee, Los Angeles, and is an ongoing Sponsor of the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival (recently authoring the Melina Mercouri 100 Years Tribute piece, and sponsoring the LAGFF Special "Stella" Screening in collaboration with the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.)
Melina is currently developing the Melina Mercouri feature film project, whilst writing its limited series, and her romantic comedy feature, "Pet Agent."
Trivia: Melina speaks 3 languages (English, Greek & Italian.) She placed 1st in Australia (English/Poetry & Social Studies) in her school finals. The 1st monologue she ever delivered on stage was the "Our Father" (The Lord's Prayer, recited in Greek, age 7); the most recent was her father's eulogy. Melina enjoys traveling and photography, excels at logic games, writes poetry; and loves singing/dance and karate. She became a vegan in 2017, is an avid animal rights activist, and boasts she makes the best vegan moussaka this side of Athens, Greece.
Quotes about Melina: Pulitzer Prize and Academy Award winning writer, John Patrick Shanley described Melina as "Sex in Technicolor" who writes "like a poet by some Summer sea."
3 things you wouldn't tell by looking at Melina's head shot: (i) She holds 3 degrees, including a law degree from The University of Sydney Law School (Honors/Valedictorian), and was sworn in as an attorney of the Supreme Court of New South Wales (Australia); (ii) She knows no subtlety; (iii) The rest is a disguise.- Caitlyn Tyler Cole is known for Swingers (1996), Black November (2012) and An American Reunion (2003).

Barbara Crampton was born in Levittown, New York. Growing up in Vermont, she spent the majority of her childhood summers traveling the country with a roadside carnival that her father worked for. Crampton began acting in school plays in seventh grade and subsequently studied drama in high school. She earned a BA in Theater Arts from Castleton State College and, following graduation, portrayed "Cordelia" in an American Theater of Actors production of "King Lear" in New York.
The young actress then moved to Los Angeles and, in 1983, made her TV debut with a recurring role on the popular daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives (1965). The following year she had a brief, but memorable role in Brian De Palma's Body Double (1984), which was followed by the 1985 comedy Fraternity Vacation (1985). Barbara achieved enduring cult popularity as college coed Megan Halsey in Stuart Gordon's Re-Animator (1985) and, after making a splash in the horror genre, successively starred in From Beyond (1986), Chopping Mall (1986), Puppet Master (1989), and Castle Freak (1995), among others.
Outside of horror, Barbara had recurring roles on daytime television soap operas Guiding Light (1952); The Bold and the Beautiful (1987), and The Young and the Restless (1973), for which won a Soap Opera Digest Award.
Years after retiring from acting to raise a family, Crampton returned to film in 2011 with a role in Adam Wingard's You're Next (2011). She subsequently appeared in number of new films, the majority of which were horror. Highlights of her return include The Lords of Salem (2012), We Are Still Here (2015), and Beyond the Gates (2016).
Crampton's hobbies include skiing, yoga, horseback riding, running, working out with weights, and shopping for antiques at flea markets. She lives outside of San Francisco with her husband, Robert Bleckman, and their two children.- Argentinian leading lady Marta Victoria Moya Peggo Burges was one of three siblings, born in Buenos Aires to a French father and Italian mother. When she was five years of age, her father, a publisher, fled with his family to Montevideo, Uruguay, where they went on to live for several years in somewhat reduced circumstances. According to one of two conflicting stories, her father had gotten into "into conflict with a criminal gang". According to another, he may have fallen foul of the ruling political elite. Whatever the case, both parents died prematurely in what was possibly a suicide pact (in their car of carbon monoxide poisoning) by the time Linda was 13.
Educated at the Conservatoria Franklin in Uruguay, she studied voice and piano. A brief marriage to the Argentinian actor Tito Gómez ended in an annulment after just five days and Linda briefly toyed with the idea of entering a convent (as had several of her aunts). Fate, of course, intervened. While vacationing in Mexico with her older brother, she was 'discovered' by the film producer and director Miguel Alemán Velasco, who also happened to be the son of the country's ruling president. Signed under contract, she adopted the moniker Linda Cristal and made several Spanish language films which soon established her as one of Mexico's rising stars. Conscious of her potential and hoping to break into Hollywood, she decided to learn English as her fourth language (already fluent in Spanish, French and Italian) and subsequently made her American film debut with a small role in the Dana Andrews western Comanche (1956). A dispute over the non-payment of her wages and a car accident in 1956 then led to a brief hiatus in her career.
Fast forward three years and a bit of publicity (she was named "Motion Picture Sweater Queen" in 1958) and Linda was lured back to Hollywood by Universal to again hit the saddle in a couple of back-to-back minor westerns, The Last of the Fast Guns (1958) and The Fiend Who Walked the West (1958). In between attempts to break free from typecasting as decorative Latinas (The Pharaohs' Woman (1960), Panic in the City (1968)) -- a metamorphosis which never happened -- she at least got herself noticed by some high profile people in the business (ie. John Wayne) and was able to thus secure roles in better productions like The Alamo (1960) and Two Rode Together (1961). While her motion picture career was at an impasse, she learned of producer David Dortort casting for the part of Victoria Montoya in the upcoming TV series The High Chaparral (1967). Invited to an audition, she found the set script as too saccharine and bland. Audaciously improvising, she re-imagined her character as more tempestuous, resourceful and proud, later saying in an interview that she knew the producers "were looking for a heroine with fire and spunk". Having secured the coveted role, she made it her own for four seasons (1967-71), ultimately winning two Primetime Emmy nominations and netting her the Golden Globe Award in 1970 as Best Actress in a TV Drama.
After High Chaparral ceased production in 1971, Linda made guest appearances in a handful of TV shows and played a Mexican migrant worker and union leader in Charles Bronson's robust action film Mr. Majestyk (1974). She later worked for some time as a realtor, presided over her own import/export business and invested wisely to become financially very well-off. She made a final comeback to acting as the mistress of a mob boss in the daytime soap General Hospital (1963), eventually calling it quits in 1988. Linda spent her remaining years between residences in Beverly Hills, Palm Springs and Buenos Aires and passed away at her Beverly Hills home on June 27 2020 at the age of 89. - Alena Croft was born on 25 August 1981 in Arizona, USA. Comedically, Edwina gave a hilarious turn as Kevin Hart's wife, 'Rita,' in the Warner Bros' hit comedy Get Hard with Will Ferrell, and can now be seen in the new Apple TV+ comedy Life By Ella, and in AMC+'s suspense thriller Rogue Agent.

One of the hottest stars of the mid-1980s, Virginia Madsen has since played a variety of roles that have cemented her reputation as a fantastic actress who can adapt to any part.
Virginia was born in Chicago, Illinois, and belongs to an acting family -- with her brother, Michael Madsen, also an actor, and her mother, Elaine Madsen (née Melson), an Emmy-winning writer, poet, and producer. Her paternal grandparents were Danish, and her father, Calvin Madsen, was a firefighter. Audiences first caught a glimpse of her as "Princess Irulan" in the 1984 science fiction epic Dune (1984). She followed that up with Electric Dreams (1984); however, it was in 1986 that Virginia captured the hearts of the audience with an intense portrayal of a Catholic school girl who fell in love with a boy from a prison camp in Duncan Gibbins' Fire with Fire (1986). Virginia played the role of "Lisa" and her co-star was Craig Sheffer, who played Lisa's love interest, "Joe Fisk". Kari Wuhrer also made an appearance as Virginia's best friend, "Gloria". Fire with Fire (1986) was a low-budget production, starring a bunch of fresh faces who were till then-unknown to Hollywood. However, the movie was a success and elevated its three young stars overnight. Virginia has never looked back since.
Not only did she receive amazing reviews for her Academy Award and Golden Globe nominated performance in Alexander Payne's hit film, Sideways (2004), but this Independent Spirit Award-winning actress has an illustrious resume of roles alongside the most notable and respected actors in the business.
Also on Virginia's slate is her production company, with partner Karly Meola, called "Title IX Productions". Their first project was the documentary I Know a Woman Like That (2009), which previewed at the Phoenix Film Festival in April 2009 and premiered at the Chicago Film Festival in October 2009. The doc was directed by Virginia's mother, Elaine Madsen, about the lives of extraordinary women ages 64-94. Next in the company's lineup is the documentary Fighting Gravity (2010), about women ski jumpers' ongoing battle for the right to compete in the 2010 Winter Olympics. Title IX will team up with "Empire 8 Productions" and Vancouver-based "Screen Siren" on the project. The duo also has several projects in development that they're shopping around for financing including screenwriters Sebastian Gutierrez's screen adaptation of Martha O'Connor's novel "The Bitch Posse" and a remake of the 1984 film Electric Dreams (1984), in which Virginia appeared.- Actress

Jena Malone was born in Reno, Nevada, raised in Sparks, Nevada; two cities that have merged together over time, to Deborah Malone and Edward Berge. Her grandfather owned a casino, Karl's Silver Club, in Reno. She was raised by her mother and her mother's partner. Beginning as a child actress, and then stepping up to roles as a young adult, Malone's career path has been compared to that of Jodie Foster, herself a former child actress and who has co-starred with Malone in two movies. Jena is often described as having a maturity beyond her years and, in her career thus far, she has often tackled roles that are difficult and are not standard fare for actors her age.
Malone's first claim to fame was in performing the title role in Bastard Out of Carolina (1996) for which she won the Young Artist Award, and which she filmed when she was merely ten years old. This movie dealt with issues of child abuse, violence and sex. Jena has said in later interviews that this movie and her participation in it continue to influence her life substantially.
Showing self-assurance and a clear vision of personal goals from an early age, Jena, at age 14, was encouraged to try out for Air Force One (1997), a movie that was virtually guaranteed to be a success since box-office king Harrison Ford was cast in the lead, but Jena said she'd prefer to seek other roles that were of more interest to her.
In the following years, Malone appeared in several made-for-TV movies for which she won or was nominated for many awards. In 1997, she lucked in to being cast in the blockbuster Contact (1997) where she portrayed the child version of Jodie Foster's lead character. Foster stated that she built her character by mimicking Jena. And, in 1998, Jena was cast in the major film Stepmom (1998) where she co-starred with Julia Roberts, Susan Sarandon and Ed Harris. Jena was given what was likely the best line in that movie where her character, bitter over her parents' divorce, confronts her father who has returned home briefly; at a moment of crisis, her dad tells her "You do NOT run out on your mother", and the rueful Malone exclaims "No -- that's YOUR job".
Also, in 1998, Malone appeared in a two-part episode of the critically acclaimed TV series Homicide: Life on the Street (1993). Contrary to what might usually be expected of a teenage actress, in this episode, Jena played the complex role of the perpetrator of a crime, which she portrayed with subtlety.
At age 15, Jena was legally emancipated and thus took direct control of her finances and her career. Malone began getting more attention and acclaim in her next set of films: the artistic cult film Donnie Darko (2001); the teenage journey The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys (2002) where she again co-starred with Jodie Foster; and the satirical Saved! (2004) which debuted Jena as the lead in a movie.
Jena has expressed an interest in directing some day, and so she is preparing for roles behind the camera as well as in front. In 2002, she co-produced American Girl (2002) while also starring in it. And, in 2003, she undertook a formal study of photography.
In early 2006, Malone debuted on the Broadway stage in the play "Doubt". A review by Broadway.com characterized her performance as "astonishing".
Many people in Hollywood have jobs as actors. Watch for Jena Malone. She is an artist.- Actress

Counted amongst the sexiest women in the glamour world, English model Lucy Pinder has graced the covers of some of the hottest British publications such as 'FHM,' 'Nuts,' 'Loaded,' and the 'Daily Star.' She had already been modeling for a few years when she first decided to go for topless photo-shoots and this decision of hers proved to be a turning point in her career. Blessed with a curvaceous figure, she sent ripples across the fashion world with her sizzling hot topless pictures which catapulted her to the status of a supermodel in no time. Her successful modeling career paved the way for a television career as well and she was bombarded with numerous offers to appear on television shows. After making her first appearance on Living TV's series 'I'm Famous and Frightened!,' she went on to appear on Sky Sports as a celebrity soccerette on 'Soccer AM' and as a contestant on a special edition of the 'Weakest Link.' Soon enough, she became a presenter on the 'Nuts TV live show' which further enhanced her popularity.
Back in the early 2000s, Lucy Katherine Pinder was just another young college gal who did not have any specific ideas about what her future was supposed to look like. She was led into the world of modeling purely by a stroke of destiny. Lucy, like other girls, loved to sunbath on the beaches in summer and it was during some such instance in 2003 that she caught the eye of freelance photographer Lee Earle. Impressed by the busty figure of the young girl, he asked her if she would pose for him. She did, and the resultant photographs led to a professional modeling contract with 'Daily Star.' Comfortable with her body, and confident in her demeanor, she soon became a very popular swimsuit model, often posing in risqué and skimpy bikinis. While getting admired for her beautiful big breasts was nothing new to Lucy, initially she refrained from posing topless. She finally shed this inhibition in 2007 and first appeared topless in 'Nuts' that year. Her topless pics sent her fans into frenzy and her popularity peaked at newer heights! The Australian magazine 'Ralph' even declared that she had the "Best Breasts in the World!" By this time she had ventured into television as well and had built a name for herself as a TV personality too. As a successful model and TV personality, she confidently seized the opportunity to appear in films too and has appeared in movies, such as Strippers vs Werewolves (2012), The Seventeenth Kind (2014) and Age of Kill (2015).
Lucy founded her humanitarian foundation Busty Brains. Lucy is active in charity programs as well. Lucy is an eager supporter of charities like Cat protection, MCAC (Male Cancer Awareness Campaign), Tiger Time, Help for Heroes which supports the troops and much more. Lucy was an ambassador for Kick for life, a charity that fought poverty and disease in Third World countries taking football as a medium. Many people may know Lucy Pinder as a model and an actress but she is a philosopher as well. At the age of 21, Lucy graduated from Cambridge taking along with her a Philosophy degree. Lucy published her groundbreaking study on how men tend to objectify and personify a woman's body parts. Llucy also discovered that men do not listen to women while they talk, instead, they focus on one or several of her desirable body parts.
Lucy Pinder is not only recognized as a model but also as an actor. Lucy has been seen in a few films and has made many TV appearances in Dream Team, Book at Bedtime with Lucy Pinder, Celebrity Big Brother and many more.- Actress

Amy Smart was born in Topanga Canyon, California to Judy, who worked at a museum, and John Boden Smart, a salesman. She has German, English, and Irish ancestry.
Smart was a relatively new arrival when she first gained notice for her supporting roles in the 1999 hit teen films Varsity Blues (1999) and Outside Providence (1999). The Los Angeles native got her start in TV-movies and made her feature debut in Stephen Kay's The Last Time I Committed Suicide (1997), which was screened at 1997's Sundance Film Festival alongside Keanu Reeves. She was briefly seen in Paul Verhoeven's big-budget sci-fi actioner Starship Troopers (1997) with actor Casper Van Dien and had an impressive turn in the vastly different, quirkily independent How to Make the Cruelest Month (1998), in which she played Dot, the graceful golden girl who seduces the one-time boyfriend of her sister, troubled protagonist Bell (Clea DuVall). The by-the-numbers horror film Campfire Tales (1997) followed in 1997, along with the topically chilling but clumsily executed Internet stalker thriller Dee Snider's Strangeland (1998), written and produced by and starring the titular Twisted Sister frontman as a deranged torturer who meets his victims in web chatrooms. Amy reached her widest audience with a co-starring role opposite James Van Der Beek in Brian Robbins' surprise box office hit "Varsity Blues (1999)". She played Jules Harbor, a girl who longs for life beyond her small town's high-school-football-obsessed culture but is tied to it as sister of the injured star quarterback (Paul Walker) and girlfriend of his idealistic replacement (Van Der Beek). Her next role was that of Shawn Hatosy's upper-class love interest in Michael Corrente's poignant 1970s-era comedy "Outside Providence (1999)". Based on Peter Farrelly's novel, the film followed a working-class teen (Hatosy) sent by his abrasive but loving father (Alec Baldwin) to a tony prep school after running into trouble at home.- Jana Speaker was born on 5 April 1981 in Mission Viejo, California, USA.
