- DirectorSam PeckinpahStarsMaureen O'HaraBrian KeithSteve CochranAn ex-army officer accidentally kills a woman's son and tries to make up for it by escorting the funeral procession through dangerous Indian territory.Sam's first feature.
- DirectorMarlon BrandoStarsMarlon BrandoKarl MaldenPina PellicerAfter robbing a bank in Mexico, Dad Longworth absconds with the loot leaving his partner Rio to be captured by the Rurales. Rio escapes prison but struggles with his conflicting desires to love Dad's stepdaughter Louise and to get revenge.OK, this is here as sort of a bonus. Not actually a Peckinpah film he was early in the process the writer on this film while Stanley Kubrick was set to direct with Brando starring. Imagine if that had actually all come together what a collection of talent that was! As it stands though have a look at the cast that surrounds Brando in this film and it looks like a Peckinpah cast and probably outside of Brando or Kubrick only Peckinpah would have tackled a western like this.
- DirectorSam PeckinpahStarsJoel McCreaRandolph ScottMariette HartleyAn ex-union soldier is hired to transport gold from a mining community through dangerous territory. But what he doesn't realize is that his partner and old friend is plotting to double-cross him.Sam's second feature.
- DirectorSam PeckinpahStarsCharlton HestonRichard HarrisJim HuttonIn 1864, due to frequent Apache raids from Mexico into the U.S., a Union officer decides to illegally cross the border and destroy the Apache, using a mixed army of Union troops, Confederate POWs, civilian mercenaries, and scouts.Taken away from Peckinpah and later restored to something that more resembled what Sam intended.
- DirectorArnold LavenStarsTom TryonHarve PresnellSenta BergerWhat could be worse for two cavalry officers than to battle with native tribes? To battle each other for the same woman.Written by Peckinpah and meant to be directed by him before he was blackballed and removed from the director's chair.
- DirectorBuzz KulikStarsYul BrynnerRobert MitchumMaria Grazia BuccellaMexican rebel Pancho Villa leads a revolution helped by an American aviator imprisoned in Mexico.Another Peckinpah script and a film he was supposed to direct. This and The Glory Guys are lost Sam films he did not get to direct due to his troubles on Major Dundee but both are must see films for Peckinpah fans.
- DirectorSam PeckinpahStarsWilliam HoldenErnest BorgnineRobert RyanAn aging group of outlaws look for one last big score as the "traditional" American West is disappearing around them.Sam's classic that is a must for any film fan.
- DirectorSam PeckinpahStarsJason RobardsStella StevensDavid WarnerA hobo accidentally stumbles onto a water spring, and creates a profitable way station in the middle of the desert.Sam follows up the violence of The Wild Bunch with a more gentle western.
- DirectorSam PeckinpahStarsDustin HoffmanSusan GeorgePeter VaughanA young American and his English wife come to rural England and face increasingly vicious local harassment.Sam goes back to a bit of the old ultra violence.
- DirectorSam PeckinpahStarsSteve McQueenRobert PrestonIda LupinoAce Bonner returns to Arizona several years after he abandoned his family, Junior Bonner is a wild young man. Against the typical rodeo championship, family drama erupts. Are we seeing a pattern here? Sam creates a modern and gentle western about a rodeo star played by the great Steve McQueen to follow up the violence of Straw Dogs.
- DirectorSam PeckinpahStarsSteve McQueenAli MacGrawBen JohnsonA recently-released ex-con and his loyal wife go on the run after a heist goes awry. The second collaboration between McQueen and Peckinpah. A gritty crime drama that was one of Sam's most successful films.
- DirectorSam PeckinpahStarsJames CoburnKris KristoffersonRichard JaeckelPat Garrett is hired as a lawman on behalf of a group of wealthy New Mexico cattle barons to bring down his old friend Billy the Kid.Another great western from Peckinpah that is the equal of The Wild Bunch in my opinion.
- DirectorSam PeckinpahStarsWarren OatesIsela VegaRobert WebberAn American barroom pianist and his prostitute girlfriend go on a trip through the Mexican underworld to collect the bounty on the head of a dead gigolo.Sam called this perhaps his purest film because he got to complete this one exactly the way he wanted to and it completely represents his vision. It also features what is probably the great Warren Oates best performance.
- DirectorSam PeckinpahStarsJames CaanRobert DuvallArthur HillMike Locken, who works for a private security firm affiliated with the C.I.A., is betrayed by his partner and left apparently crippled for life.Peckinpah teams with Robert Duvall and James Caan to create a spectacular action film about special operatives that work under contract outside of government oversight. This film has great shootouts and martial arts action.
- DirectorSam PeckinpahStarsJames CoburnMaximilian SchellJames MasonGerman commander Hauptmann Stransky places a squad in extreme danger after Sergeant Rolf Steiner refuses to lie for him.Sam goes to war with his only film set during WWII and it may be one of the greatest war films ever made...according to one Orson Welles it was the greatest.
- DirectorSam PeckinpahStarsKris KristoffersonAli MacGrawErnest BorgnineTruckers form a mile-long "convoy" in support of a trucker's vendetta with an abusive sheriff - Based on the country song of the same title by C.W. McCall. This was probably Sam's most popular feature film but is obviously also his most minor work. Worth seeing because it is Peckinpah and makes a good double feature with another 1970s CB/trucker film like Smokey and the Bandit but keep in mind this one is all about drive-in style fun.
- DirectorSam PeckinpahStarsRutger HauerJohn HurtCraig T. NelsonDuring the Cold War, a controversial television journalist is asked by the C.I.A. to persuade certain acquaintances, who are Soviet Agents of the Omega network, to defect.Sam's final film and a better effort than Convoy because it is based on better material. A twisty turny thriller that has a great cast. Sam closes out his career on a decent note. Not anywhere near as good as his best films but well worth checking out for Peckinpah fans.
