- DirectorIsaac FlorentineStarsMichael Jai WhiteScott AdkinsBen CrossSequel to the 2002 film. This time, Heavyweight Champ George "Iceman" Chambers is sent to a Russian Jail on trumped-up drug charges.Ironically enough, the direct-to-DVD sequel was better than the first which I believe was a theatrical release. The third one(Which focused on the best character portrayed by the awesome Scott Adkins) was even better. Only time will tell if the fourth film which also focuses on Adkins character will live up the Undisputed 3.
- DirectorJohn LechagoStarsTrent HaagaVictoria De MareAl BurkeThe demon clown Killjoy is resurrected once again, but this time he is not given the name of his victim and is trapped in his realm. Using a magic mirror he lures four unsuspecting college students into his realm where he can have his macabre fun! A mysterious man returns and we finally discover who Killjoy's true target is!While this whole series was made to be schlock, the first two wore downright unwatchable. This one was serviceable for what it was and the next film(Killjoy Goes to Hell) was loads of stupid fun. I am a bit excited for the upcoming Killjoy sequel.
- DirectorNicholas MeyerStarsWilliam ShatnerLeonard NimoyDeForest KelleyWith the assistance of the Enterprise crew, Admiral Kirk must stop an old nemesis, Khan Noonien Singh, from using the life-generating Genesis Device as the ultimate weapon.Unless you are a hardcore Trekkie I would advise skipping the first movie. Luckily, this one was excellent.
- DirectorGuillermo del ToroStarsRon PerlmanSelma BlairDoug JonesA prince of the mythical world starts a rebellion against humanity in order to rule the Earth. Hellboy and his team must fight to stop him from locating the all-powerful Golden Army. While I did enjoy the first film, it definitely wasn't for everybody and I feel like an average moviegoer that wouldn't enjoy the first movie would likely enjoy this one as it is more palatable to mainstream audiences. That isn't to say it isn't also great for fans of Del Toro or the Hellboy comic books.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHeath LedgerAaron EckhartWhen the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice. What's baffling to me is the crazy praise that Batman Begins received and still gets. Sure Nolan, Freeman, Bale, Caine, and Oldman teaming up for a film is great and is(obviously) miles better than the installment before it, but despite the great actors and direction Batman Begins leaves a lot to be desired and was hardly anything to write home about. What baffles me more is the fact that it's sequel, The Dark Knight, is, in my opinion, one of the best movies to be released in quite some time. This time around Nolan puts his great cast to much better use and replaces Holmes with a much better actress.
- DirectorLloyd KaufmanStarsDavid MatteyClyde LewisHeidi SjursenThe Toxic Avenger must defend his friends from his own evil alternate universe doppelgänger, The Noxious Offender.Unpopular opinion: But while I kind of liked the first Toxic Avenger, there's not a lot there other than a few cool scenes. The ending was incredibly dumb and anti-climactic. I suppose you should watch it just because it's kind of required watching for a Troma fan. The second and third installments were simply unwatchable trash for the most part.
However, with Citizen Toxie, I dare say that they've created a low-budget schlock masterpiece. You've got to see this movie before you die! It's hilarious, politically incorrect, trashy, violent and insane. - DirectorJustin LinStarsVin DieselPaul WalkerDwayne JohnsonDominic Toretto and his crew of street racers plan a massive heist to buy their freedom while in the sights of a powerful Brazilian drug lord and a dangerous federal agent. While the Fourth was at least watchable, I'd at least skip the first three. This one was a fun movie and the next two just get better.
- DirectorJames DeMonacoStarsFrank GrilloElizabeth MitchellMykelti WilliamsonFormer Police Sergeant Barnes becomes head of security for Senator Charlie Roan, a Presidential candidate targeted for death on Purge night due to her vow to eliminate the Purge. It wasn't until the third film that they made a good one.
The first one took a stupid concept (albeit, one that has a lot of potential to get crazy) and does very little with it.
The second, actually sort of gets the right idea by making it take place outside. But it felt like a boring slog.
And finally the third one has some fun moments and a fun plot with some characters you can root for and have a laugh with. I'm not sure why I went to see Election Year when I didn't like the first two. I kind of had a feeling that they'd make a movie worth watching and my hunch was correct.
