- DirectorNicolas PesceStarsTara WestwoodJunko BaileyDavid Lawrence BrownA house is cursed by a vengeful ghost that dooms those who enter it with a violent death.
- DirectorWilliam EubankStarsKristen StewartVincent CasselMamoudou AthieA crew of oceanic researchers working for a deep sea drilling company try to get to safety after a mysterious earthquake devastates their deepwater research and drilling facility located at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.***: Underwater kept my attention throughout. It’s well shot with a fine cast, decent performances and plenty of suspense.
The film is definitely better than most underwater creature movies. It doesn’t help that the comparisons are Deepstar Six, Leviathan or Sphere though. I left out the Abyss since just the marines on board are bad. Otherwise it’s the best underwater science fiction film. - DirectorGuy RitchieStarsMatthew McConaugheyCharlie HunnamMichelle DockeryAn American expat tries to sell off his highly profitable marijuana empire in London, triggering plots, schemes, bribery and blackmail in an attempt to steal his domain out from under him.
- DirectorAdil El ArbiBilall FallahStarsWill SmithMartin LawrenceVanessa HudgensMiami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett must face off against a mother-and-son pair of drug lords who wreak vengeful havoc on their city.***: Mike (Will Smith) and Marcus’ (Martin Lawrence) friendship is tested. When Mike wants to team to take down cop killers. Marcus wants to retire and just be a family man.
Michael Bay isn’t the director. The result is more story, more drama and more character development. Bay also not directing Bumblebee, resulted in the best Transformers movie as well. Though it is nice that he has a cameo in one scene.
The Smith and Lawrence chemistry is better when you actually have a story. Rather than them arguing or wise cracking between each shoot out.
It is also nice that the directors Arbi and Fallah don’t think a film called Bad Boys For Life. Needs to be a nearly 3 hr epic. Like Bay would have gave us. - DirectorStephen GaghanStarsRobert Downey Jr.Antonio BanderasMichael SheenA physician who can talk to animals embarks on an adventure to find a legendary island with a young apprentice and a crew of strange pets.**1/2:
The animals steal the show and the film is nice to look at. The film is a cute road to nowhere in search of a plot. Robert Downey Jr. and Michael Sheen are both talented but over due the over acting and the accents.
Hollywood has made worse CGI movies with animals though. Like Evan Almighty, The Zoo Keeper and Peter Rabbit. Dolittle is an entertaining but uneven and jumpy film. - DirectorBertrand BonelloStarsLouise LabèqueWislanda LouimatKatiana MilfortA man is brought back from the dead to work in the hell of sugar cane plantations. 55 years later, a Haitian teenager tells her friends her family secret - not suspecting that it will push one of them to commit the irreparable.
- DirectorOz PerkinsStarsSophia LillisSamuel LeakeyAlice KrigeA long time ago in a distant fairy tale countryside, a young girl leads her little brother into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil.
- DirectorCathy YanStarsMargot RobbieRosie PerezMary Elizabeth WinsteadAfter splitting with the Joker, Harley Quinn joins superheroines Black Canary, Huntress, and Renee Montoya to save a young girl from an evil crime lord.***: Birds of Prey is like DC and Warner Brothers answer to Deadpool. It’s just as violent and off the wall. With Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad) owning the Harley Quinn character. As well as owning every scene she is in.
The supporting cast is great as well. Ewan McGregor (Doctor Sleep) is surprisingly bone chilling and creepy. As the villain Black Mask. Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim Saves the World) is bad-ass as the Huntress. - DirectorJeff FowlerStarsBen SchwartzJames MarsdenJim CarreyAfter discovering a small, blue, fast hedgehog, a small-town police officer must help him defeat an evil genius who wants to do experiments on him.***: James Marsden as Tom, can make the film feel like Hop but with Sonic the Hedgehog. Ben Schwartz is about as annoying, yet likable as the voice of Sonic. Like he is as Dewey in the new Ducktales.
Jim Carrey overacts but his overacting is on 10%, it goes up to 1000 in most of his movies. So he’s restrained here.
Like most Hollywood adaptions. It’s too much about the human character and If Tom will leave where he is. To go be a cop in San Francisco. Instead of the traffic cop, Sonic prefers. Who has conversations with donuts.
Tom and Sonic go on a road trip to get to San Francisco where Sonics magic portal rings are lost.
Along the way Sonic wants to of course tour America and live a little before he leaves to another planet through the magic rings. Which he has time to do despite Dr. Robotonic (Jim Carrey). Wanting to capture and dissect him.
Despite all the family film cliches listed. It’s surprisingly nice to see Jim Carrey in something. His scenes are pretty entertaining. Sonic like I said is as likable and charming as he is annoying.
Sonic could have been Smurfs like bad. Since Sonic didn’t need to be in our world bonding with a human. Some how it actually works and is one of the better video game adaptations.
The look of Sonic is faithful, as well as his cocky attitude. Since most fast characters are cocky for some reason. His world from the video game is at least briefly well done. The movie also kept my attention throughout. - DirectorRichard StanleyStarsNicolas CageJoely RichardsonMadeleine ArthurA secluded farm is struck by a strange meteorite which has apocalyptic consequences for the family living there and possibly the world.
- DirectorJeff WadlowStarsMichael PeñaMaggie QLucy HaleWhen the owner and operator of a luxurious island invites a collection of guests to live out their most elaborate fantasies in relative seclusion, chaos quickly descends.**1/2:
Another watered down PG-13 Horror movie. I do find a lot of the concept interesting though. Fantasy Island has a good cast as well. I definitely don’t think it’s as bad as critics say.
It almost feels like the 80’s movie Wax Work but with Fantasy Island. When the film starts having twists, that’s when it falls apart though. Since the twist feels forced. - DirectorChris SandersStarsHarrison FordOmar SyCara GeeA sled dog struggles for survival in the wilds of the Yukon.
- DirectorBenh ZeitlinStarsDevin FranceYashua MackGage NaquinLost on a mysterious island where aging and time have come unglued, Wendy must fight to save her family, her freedom, and the joyous spirit of youth from the deadly peril of growing up.
- DirectorCorneliu PorumboiuStarsVlad IvanovCatrinel MarlonRodica LazarNot everything is as it seems for Cristi, a policeman who plays both sides of the law. Embarking with the beautiful Gilda on a high-stakes heist, both will have to navigate the twists and turns of corruption, treachery and deception.
- DirectorNat FaxonJim RashStarsJulia Louis-DreyfusWill FerrellZach WoodsBarely escaping an avalanche during a family ski vacation in the Alps, a married couple is thrown into disarray as they are forced to reevaluate their lives and how they feel about each other.
- DirectorLeigh WhannellStarsElisabeth MossOliver Jackson-CohenHarriet DyerWhen Cecilia's abusive ex takes his own life and leaves her his fortune, she suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of coincidences turn lethal, Cecilia works to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.****:
An edge of your seat thriller from beginning to end. With a superb performance by Elisabeth Moss (Us). As Cicilia, who literally escaped an abusive relationship with Adrian (Oliver Jackson).
She hides out at her friend James’ (Aldis Hodge) house with his daughter Syndey (Storm Reid). She finally starts to feel free. When Adrian’s brother relies the news that he is dead.
Strange things that Cecilia knows Adrian is only capable start to happen around her. No one believe she has an invisible stalker though.
Invisible Man is surprisingly one of the years best. Who would think that Sleeping With the Enemy mixed with the invisible man, would work. It works extremely well. Since an invisible stalker is pretty scary. - DirectorSeverin FialaVeronika FranzStarsRiley KeoughJaeden MartellLia McHughA soon-to-be stepmom is snowed in with her fiancé's two children at a remote holiday village. Just as relations begin to thaw between the trio, some strange and frightening events take place.
- DirectorDan ScanlonStarsTom HollandChris PrattJulia Louis-DreyfusIn a magical world full of technological advances, elven brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoot set out on an adventure to resurrect their late father for a day.
***1/2: In Onward, magic is like playing outside. Once technology came along. Everyone stopped going outside and going on quests.
Ian (Tom Holland) and his older brother Barley (Chris Pratt) discover a wand and a spell. That can bring their late father back for a day. Who Ian, never met.
Together they go on a quest to get a gem that together with the wand. Can bring back their dad. There’s some road trip movie cliches. Whether it’s a fairy version of a biker gang or not.
As soon you see the biker gang, you know there will be a fight with them. After someone does something to anger them. Like, the most cliche thing as to knock over their bikes for instance.
The film still tugs at your heart strings though and might get a tear or two out of you. It is touching cute even if is not Pixar’s best. Though more memorable than any Cars film. - DirectorCraig ZobelStarsBetty GilpinHilary SwankIke BarinholtzTwelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don't know where they are, or how they got there. They don't know they've been chosen - for a very specific purpose - The Hunt.*** Spoilers: A group of strangers are hunted over their political views. Which is the real reason it was delayed. Not due to the shootings going on.
The film tries to fool you who the hero will be. In the beginning. Yet, the poster spoils that. The recognizable actors die way too quick as shockers. I wasn’t shocked since the trailer actually shows one of them killed.
The Hunt is a goofy and violent film with not much of a plot. Except that we have to choose who’s side we are on. If you are Democrat, do you side with them or Republicans they are hunting. - DirectorDave WilsonStarsVin DieselEiza GonzálezSam HeughanRay Garrison, a slain soldier, is re-animated with superpowers.
- DirectorJulia HartStarsGrace VanderWaalGraham VerchereGiancarlo EspositoAn unassuming high schooler finds himself inexplicably drawn to the free-spirited new girl, whose unconventional ways change how they see themselves--and each other.***: A cute movie about just being yourself and not being an introvert. Grace VanderWaal lights up the screen as StarGirl who teaches a shy boy to let himself be seen.
- DirectorMike AhernEnda LoughmanStarsMaeve HigginsBarry WardWill ForteRose, a mostly sweet and lonely Irish driving instructor, must use her supernatural talents to save the daughter of Martin (also mostly sweet and lonely) from a washed-up rock star who is using her in a Satanic pact to reignite his fame.
- DirectorPeter SegalStarsDave BautistaChloe ColemanParisa Fitz-HenleyA hardened CIA operative finds himself at the mercy of a precocious 9-year-old girl, having been sent undercover to surveil her family.***: 00
Better than most of the movies that have macho action stars in kid movies. Since My Spy is surprisingly entertaining. It is not laugh loud funny but it’s charming.
Though it doesn’t work that he lets her bribe him by saying she will tell the mom he is a spy otherwise. Then he tells a whole class and the parents he is a spy. - DirectorWalt DohrnDavid P. SmithStarsAnna KendrickJustin TimberlakeRachel BloomWhen the Queen of the Hard Rock Trolls tries to take over all the Troll kingdoms, Queen Poppy and her friends try different ways to save all the Trolls.***: Trolls: World Tour has Poppy (Anna Kendrick) learning that there’s more Trolls. Each tribe represent Rock, Pop, Country, Jazz and etc. Rock wants to make every tribe Rock and Poppy sets out to stop her.
It’s weird the Bergen’s who were a huge part of the plot for the first film. Aren’t in this film or even mentioned.
The soundtrack might even better than the first movie. With hit songs from every genre. Story wise though it is mostly about diversity and everyone getting along.
Originality wise, it feels like Smurfs the Lost Village with Trolls and a lot singing. Kids should enjoy it. Grownups will either enjoy it or find the film too noisy throughout. - DirectorSam HargraveStarsChris HemsworthBryon LerumRyder LerumTyler Rake, a fearless black market mercenary, embarks on the most deadly extraction of his career when he's enlisted to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord.***1/2: A surprisingly exciting and action packed Netflix film. With Chris Hemsworth in bad ass form and kicking ass John Wick style.
- DirectorMichael ShowalterStarsIssa RaeKumail NanjianiPaul SparksA couple (Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani) experiences a defining moment in their relationship when they are unintentionally embroiled in a murder mystery.***:
The beginning is annoying with too much arguing between the leads. The film definitely gets better once they are on the run. From the police and crooked cops.
Date Night was a funnier movie though.
- DirectorTony CervoneStarsWill ForteMark WahlbergJason IsaacsScooby and the gang face their most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world. As they race to stop this dogpocalypse, the gang discovers that Scooby has an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.***
More faithful than the live action movies. That thought fart jokes were a must. Mathew Lillard as Shaggy and Linda Cardellini as Velma is about all they got right.
This film is for Scooby-Doo fans. As well as Hanna Barbara fans.It is charming cute and funny. Even if Shaggy may not sound enough like Shaggy for some fans. Matthew Lillard’s Shaggy is still hard to beat.
Some also may miss that it doesn’t have an old fashioned Scooby-Doo Mystery. The film does at least do the characters justice. As well as the extra Hanna Barbara characters justice. - DirectorJudd ApatowStarsPete DavidsonBel PowleyRicky VelezScott has been a case of arrested development since his firefighter dad died. He spends his days smoking weed and dreaming of being a tattoo artist until events force him to grapple with his grief and take his first steps forward in life.
- DirectorBrandon TrostStarsSeth RogenSarah SnookMolly EvensenAn immigrant worker at a pickle factory is accidentally preserved for 100 years and wakes up in modern-day Brooklyn.
- DirectorAaron SchneiderStarsTom HanksElisabeth ShueStephen GrahamSeveral months after the U.S. entry into World War II, an inexperienced U.S. Navy commander must lead an Allied convoy being stalked by a German submarine wolf pack.***: Tom Hanks is solid and the battle scenes are solid. I was hoping to call Greyhound one of the years best. That it is not. Due to not being structured enough story wise.
It is nothing but what it promises. An Allied convoy taking on a German submarine. In a movie too short and not even as thrilling as it should be. - DirectorMax BarbakowStarsAndy SambergCristin MiliotiJ.K. SimmonsStuck in a time loop, two wedding guests develop a budding romance while living the same day over and over again.***1/2:
Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti shine as wedding guests. Stuck reliving the same day over and over again.
There’s plenty of laughs but also touching moments as well. You won’t mind spending time with charming duo. - DirectorKenneth BranaghStarsFerdia ShawLara McDonnellJosh GadArtemis Fowl, a young criminal prodigy, hunts down a secret society of fairies to find his missing father.***:
There’s much more story than most movies that critics have gave 14% good reviews to. Artemis Fowl isn’t as magical as a Harry Potter film.
Josh Gad’s over-acting is entertaining compared to the not so lively, performances of everyone else.
Artemis Fowl is a cute and often charming movie. That I am sure isn’t as good as the book. While also not as bad as critics are saying.
When critics hated most of Fantasy 80’s classics. You’re better off forming your own opinion with Artemis Fowl. - DirectorDean ParisotStarsKeanu ReevesAlex WinterKristen SchaalOnce told they'd save the universe during a time-traveling adventure, two would-be rockers from San Dimas, California find themselves as middle-aged dads still trying to crank out a hit song and fulfill their destiny.***1/2: A funny and fun sequel where Bill and Ted struggle to write a hit song. There’s a lot of pressure that the world will end if they don’t.
While they try to steal the hit song from their future selves. Their daughters befriend famous musical artists to help their parents.
The ending is a bit rushed which is about my only complaint. - DirectorHenry JoostAriel SchulmanStarsJamie FoxxJoseph Gordon-LevittDominique FishbackWhen a pill that gives its users unpredictable superpowers for five minutes hits the streets of New Orleans, a teenage dealer and a local cop must team with an ex-soldier to take down the group responsible for its creation.**1/2: Project Power is decent enough due to the work of Jamie Fox, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Dominique Fishback. As a ex soldier, super power drug dealing teen and cop team up. To take on the creators of a drug, that gives you unpredictable powers for 5 minutes.
It is mostly a good idea for a tv series that is stretched into a movie. I actually forgot I even saw it. So I probably shouldn’t recommend something that I found forgettable. - DirectorNiki CaroStarsLiu YifeiDonnie YenGong LiTo keep her ailing father from serving in the Imperial Army, a fearless young woman disguises herself as a man and battles northern invaders in China.***1/2: A live action Disney remake of an animated film. That brings it’s own ideas. With some great fantasy and fine Kung-Fu action.
Rather than just copying and pasting with all the same songs. Like Beauty and Beast, Aladdin and the Lion King. I respect that it isn’t even part Musical at all. - DirectorJosh BooneStarsMaisie WilliamsAnya Taylor-JoyCharlie HeatonFive young mutants, just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.
- DirectorMcGStarsJudah LewisSamara WeavingJenna OrtegaTwo years after Cole survived a satanic blood cult, he's living another nightmare: high school. And the demons from his past? Still making his life hell.**1/2:
An unnecessary and over the top goofy sequel. Is watchable due to the charm of Judah Lewis and Jenna Ortega (Stuck in the Middle. I enjoyed the movie while thinking it was pretty bad, at the same time.
Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) is probably the most talented in the movie. There’s not enough of her this time around. I’d prefer more of her instead of either over the top or bad performances by the other villain actors and actresses. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsJohn David WashingtonRobert PattinsonElizabeth DebickiArmed with only the word "Tenet," and fighting for the survival of the entire world, CIA operative, The Protagonist, journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a global mission that unfolds beyond real time.Another mind bending Christopher Nolan film. That has heroes who can rewind time. Like Inception, Tenet is a trippy ride. ***1/2
- DirectorDerrick BorteStarsRussell CroweCaren PistoriusGabriel BatemanAfter a confrontation with an unstable man at an intersection, a woman becomes the target of his rage.
- DirectorHarry BradbeerStarsMillie Bobby BrownHenry CavillSam ClaflinWhen Enola Holmes (Sherlock's teen sister) discovers her mother is missing, she endeavours to find her, becoming a super-sleuth in her own right as she outwits her famous brother and unravels a dangerous conspiracy.***1/2:
Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) is so good. That you forgive the film, for not enough of Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes (Man of Steel).
The film is overlong, yet a delight to watch due to the cast. Millie gets to show she’s a true star. She deserves more than just looking in the sky and making believe she’s watching Godzilla fight. - DirectorDoug LimanStarsTom HollandDaisy RidleyDemián BichirTwo unlikely companions embark on a perilous adventure through the badlands of an unexplored planet as they try to escape a dangerous and disorienting reality where all thoughts are seen and heard by everyone.
- DirectorOz RodriguezStarsJaden MichaelGerald JonesGregory Diaz IVA group of young friends from the Bronx fight to save their neighborhood from gentrification...and vampires.***: Vampires vs the Bronx doesn’t add anything fresh to the vampire genre. With that said, the film is witty and fun. Without being too scary or violent.
- DirectorSteven BrillStarsAdam SandlerKevin JamesJulie BowenDespite his devotion to his hometown of Salem (and its Halloween celebration), Hubie Dubois is a figure of mockery for kids and adults alike. But this year, something is going bump in the night, and it's up to Hubie to save Halloween.**1/2: Plays like any Adam Sandler movie. He does an awful voice and will obviously get with another hot out of his league woman. It’s like the Waterboy but with Halloween in other words.
Make sure you’re listening good because it’s hard to understand a word Sandler is saying. I love Halloween movies. This could have been a good one.
If it wasn’t for Sandler’s voice, fart jokes, puke jokes and other immature jokes. In other words Happy Madison still hasn’t learned what ingredients make a good comedy movie.
Sandler at least didn’t make the worst Netflix movie ever made. As revenge for being snubbed for Uncut Gems. That movie is still Ridiculous 6.
Hubie Halloween does at least have a strange charm to it. With a nice Cameron Boyce tribute in the credits. Which explains why two former Jessie stars are in this movie. - DirectorJim CummingsStarsJim CummingsRiki LindhomeRobert ForsterTerror grips a small mountain town as bodies are discovered after each full moon. Losing sleep, raising a teenage daughter, and caring for his ailing father, officer Marshall struggles to remind himself there's no such thing as werewolves.
***: This murder mystery is quite funny and engaging once you get into it. Performance wise the late Robert Forster is the best actor in the movie.
It’s not always clear what Jim Cummings is going for. Though his cop with anger issues at least feels original and fun at times. Even if his acting isn’t Oscar worthy. Maybe that’s the point of his performance ?
The movie is like a dramedy horror version of Wolfen with Albert Finney. Since no one is actually sure if there’s a werewolf. - DirectorRachel TalalayStarsTamara SmartOona LaurenceTom FeltonA babysitter embarks on a mission to save a child who's been abducted by monsters.***: It is nice that Tamara Smart has been in movies since leaving the Worst Witch. While Tom Felton makes a creepy villain.
Though, a movie like this seems to come out every week. This year alone. - DirectorRyan SpindellStarsTristan ByonEden CampbellHannah R. LoydAn eccentric mortician recounts several macabre and phantasmagorical tales that he's encountered in his distinguished career.***: Feels like Tales from the Crypt but occasionally more messed up. There’s some good twists, you might not see coming.
Clancy Brown gives a perfectly sinister performance as well. - DirectorMichael MatthewsStarsDylan O'BrienJessica HenwickMichael RookerSeven years after he survived the monster apocalypse, lovably hapless Joel leaves his cozy underground bunker behind on a quest to reunite with his high school sweetheart.***1/2:
I was really surprised by this movie. Nothing was entirely original. It was like ZombieLand meets Fall-Out. However the movie was ambitious, fun, sweet and ambitious.
It was nice to see a dog used properly in a movie as well. I mean in most movies with monsters, the dog is predictably a goner. So that definitely was a nice change that he was utilized.
It’s strange to get a monster movie that I actually want to give a big hug. - DirectorDavid E. TalbertStarsForest WhitakerKeegan-Michael KeyHugh BonnevilleAn imaginary world comes to life in a holiday tale of an eccentric toymaker, his adventurous granddaughter, and a magical invention that has the power to change their lives forever.***1/2: A heart-warming and great to look at musical. Newcomer Madalen Mills lights up the screen and steals the show.
- DirectorJason WolinerStarsSacha Baron CohenMaria BakalovaTom HanksBorat returns to America from Kazakhstan to America, this time to reveal more about the American culture, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the political elections.
- DirectorRobert ZemeckisStarsAnne HathawayOctavia SpencerStanley TucciA young boy and his grandmother have a run-in with a coven of witches and their leader.**1/2: The Narration by Chris Rock makes it feel like Everybody Hates Chris, but with Witches. The CGI is also overdone. The original was creepier due to the make-up and effects from Jim Henson’s workshop.
This one is more interested in showing off what it can do with CGI which is too typical these days. The casting is good despite the narration not needed at all. Anne Hatherway is decent but tries too hard. Anjelica Huston was just naturally better in the role without all the overacting.
Octavia Spencer as the witch expert grandmother works the most. Stanley Tucci also is good casting as the hotel manager.
The movie won’t make you forget the original at all. I wanted to like it more. However it felt uneven and rushed. Despite a good start. The original is way more magical. The ending to this is just weird as well. - DirectorChris ColumbusStarsKurt RussellGoldie HawnDarby CampKate Pierce, now a cynical teen, is unexpectedly reunited with Santa Claus when a mysterious troublemaker threatens to cancel Christmas--forever.*** Kurt Russell shines as Santa yet again. More of Goldie Hawn as Mr.s Claus isn’t a bad thing either.
Lines like “if Mr.s Claus designed Santa’s village. Shouldn’t it be called Mr.s Claus’ village, then ?” Were cringe worthy though. There’s so many lines like that these days. That it should be cliche already.
The first one was more fun and magical as well. With that said this movie still has its moments. It also makes a for a nice stay at home watch. When you’re stuck home with the family. - DirectorSharon MaguireStarsJune SquibbJillian BellSonia ManzanoAn unskilled young fairy godmother ventures out on her own to prove her worth by tracking down a young girl whose request for help was ignored.***: Feels a lot like Enchanted. With a fairy godmother instead of a princess. Jillian Bell steals the show though and makes for a charming fairy godmother.
Nothing is too fresh but the movie is occasionally fun and definitely cute. - DirectorJoel CrawfordStarsNicolas CageEmma StoneRyan ReynoldsThe prehistoric family the Croods are challenged by a rival family the Bettermans, who claim to be better and more evolved.***: Surprisingly enough, the charm is still there. Despite waiting too long to make a sequel.
- DirectorChristopher LandonStarsVince VaughnKathryn NewtonCeleste O'ConnorAfter swapping bodies with a deranged serial killer, a high-school senior discovers that she has fewer than 24 hours before the change becomes permanent.***1/2: The Hot Chick if it was a horror comedy and didn’t suck.
- DirectorPatty JenkinsStarsGal GadotChris PineKristen WiigDiana must contend with a colleague, and with a businessman whose desire for extreme wealth sends the world down a path of destruction, after an ancient artifact that grants wishes goes missing.***: The movie isn't epic enough to be almost 3 hrs. Wonder Woman 1984 at least isn't bleak mess like Batman v Superman.
It's plot just isn't entirely worthy of Gadot's committed performance. Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) isn’t interesting enough for most of the focus being on him. He’s just a villain of the week.
- DirectorPete DocterKemp PowersStarsJamie FoxxTina FeyGraham NortonJoe is a middle-school band teacher whose life hasn't quite gone the way he expected. His true passion is jazz. But when he travels to another realm to help someone find their passion, he soon discovers what it means to have soul.***1/2
- DirectorTim HillStarsTim HillClancy BrownBill FagerbakkeAfter SpongeBob's beloved pet snail Gary is snail-napped, he and Patrick embark on an epic adventure to the Lost City of Atlantic City to bring Gary home.***: A cute but forgettable Spongebob movie. That gives us a look at Spongebob as a kid in camp. Which is apparently becoming a spin-off prequel series.
Despite being the weakest of the three Spongebob movies. There’s a charming lesson of friendship and being there for others. Entertaining appearances by Keanu Reeves, Danny Trejo and Snoop Dogg. Also help. - DirectorRobert RodriguezStarsYaYa GosselinPedro PascalPriyanka Chopra JonasWhen alien invaders capture the Earth's superheroes, their kids must learn to work together to save their parents and the planet.***: Spy Kids but with superheroes. Has the same plot as the first Spy Kids pretty much as well.
Robert Rodriguez’s juvenile energy in kids movies is needed in these dark days. Even if the movie never feels fresh. - DirectorEmerald FennellStarsCarey MulliganBo BurnhamAlison BrieNothing in Cassie's life is what it appears to be - she's wickedly smart, tantalizingly cunning, and she's living a secret double life. Now, an unexpected encounter is about to give Cassie a chance to right the wrongs from the past.****: Carey Mulligan owns the screen. As a coffee shop worker by day. By night lures sex predators at at bars. By making believe she is extremely drunk. Then teaches them a lesson they won’t forget.
The film is engaging throughout with many twists.
