My favourite of the filmed versions. Raimondi wonderful, so menacing. Kiri te Kanawa superb.

Kasper Holten's visually striking production accentuates the beauty and invention of Mozart's dazzling tragicomedy.

Erwin Schrott is tremendous as the Don, he's got the voice, the gestures, everything. Set is brilliant, a revolving house with balcony. My favourite video.

4. Mozart's Don Giovanni (1955 TV Movie)

Wilhelm Furtwaengler conducts the Vienna State Opera Chorus and Philharmonic Orchestra performing Mozart's famous opera.

Director: Paul Czinner | Stars: Wilhelm Furtwängler, Otto Edelmann, Elisabeth Grümmer, Cesare Siepi

Simon Keenlyside, with Antonacci and D'Arcangelo among other fine singers.

Ildebrando d'Arcangelo is a wild haired and funny Don in an Arena di Verona production

Peter Mattei is good as the Don, Terfel and Netrebko are ineffective.

a really awful production set in the woods, why? with a bus shelter for some scenes (???)

Carlos Alvarez not in his best voice having to deal with the vastness of Arena di Verona, happily the supporting cast is good.
