thriving and being healthy,
is it nurture or nature?
...
THIS COULD POSSIBLY show its more about NURTURE in the end that makes the final influence. - DirectorDan KraussStarsMonica BhargavaJessica ZitterWitness the wrenching emotions that accompany end-of-life decisions as doctors, patients and families in a hospital ICU face harrowing choices.
- StarsJohn BoockvarDavid LangerAmanda Little-RichardsonAn intimate look at the lives of four doctors - two brain surgeons, an emergency room physician, and a Chief Resident OBGYN - as they navigate the highs and lows of working at the renowned Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.-doing what you can to help others,
doing things in a selfless manner,
-you are sacrificing your 20s and 30s so its a big commitment.
-often you get into the work branch,
bc your parents were.
-to some of these ppl it not a job, it's their life,
loving to help people.
*and you have to be a neutral buffer for them,
you ont read how to deal with someone’s social situations, or problems,
you just use your best tools you have from inside- and say i can help you.
try to ask them, how they got here, who
their family members,
and what happened to you before they got here?
come with an open mind,
and understanding of how these people are feeling,
and what is it that they need?
what can you do for them?
_________
the pressure really is intense sometimes,
the jogging,
but its the humanity of your own patient that matters.
it weighs on you.
everything has to be incredibly precise, you cannot fuck it up.
its ultimately for them.
__________
there are few people who can take it from the bench-
where you have these brilliant scientists who don’t really understand medicine,
and there is a lot of people who treat the disease clinically who don’t really understand
the science.
:
if you don’t have collaboration
and you don’t have great teams,
and if you don’t have people driven to help each other,
everything breaks down.
-and that is one of the reasons why healthcare is the way it is.
the doctors are essentially selfish, they worry about their own issues.
: they may see something, and not say something.
really doing what is best for the patient,
its not about the money.
you’ve got a problem, you’ve got a human being, an they deserve to be cared for.
even if they were a former drug addict (which can make it hard to do more correct, to give thm right pain drugs and to make thm go to sleep)
_____________
a surgeon himself gets serverly ill,
and he says he, do not want sympathy.
-the takeaway point, remember it's a really beautiful day today, still.
_____________
*he hates knowing the patient so well,
thats why you dont oprate on your family or your friends.
espcially things that are really dangrous.
its rare that the patient that has somethig is really dangerous and difficult.
that you sit on and get to know them for a year,
they all get to know her and love her and her family,
=
then you can feel emotionally her pain,
and when she got better- how happy they were,
so when you go and operate on somebody like that a second time, it hits different.
-you cant help but be a human being and think about it.
____________
you have to balance extension of life, with quality of life.
so people hopefully gets both.
___________
being in a hospital such as the holidays. it kina ground me, and reminds me:
humans, they need love, they need support.
they need to know that somebody knows they exist.
_________
ther is somthing about seeing othr people who look like you-
defining beauty, defining worth.
__________
this city gives me anxiety,
i think i wanna raise him somewhere else,
grow up a little bit les…just not NYC.
I’ve seen too much here, toxicity, drugs, trauma…don’t
want him to be exposed to all that.
i dont think we can continiue here forever.
___________
how you’re measured in your own mind
as a doctor vs how you are measured by the buisness of medicin.
are two totally seperate things.
and its really ahrd to o both well,
if you’re super busy, its not relaly what makes you happy, ultimately.
there is a tremendous degree of greed,
from doctors,
patients,
the world.
-its all driven by the culture.
so it breeds itself.
___________
we dont stop,
one of our defense mechanisms is that we jsut go-we dont wanna reflct
we dont wanan dig deepr, we are vulenreable,
if you told me i had to pause and reflect.
i’d proably cry every time
i just have to open te next door, and just clear my mind.
___________
its unbelievable what these things families are going through, like their loved ones dying.
and so, its highly motivating,
but almost like a infuriating way.
like “how can I not help these people?”
__________
there is a lot of concern now for burnout and being tired.
& also feel that now that she family, husband and child.
___________
the transition to leadership is giving up some of the things
that used to make you happy.
Whether it was a patient's care
or surgery or doing tough classes,
you have to give that up to some degree.
& looking back i hope there is a recognition
we did things for the right reasons.
but,
the truth is that things are gonna change inevitably.

-it would be a relationships where they would always chased each eacher,
but when she said she was finally one-he would be at her door in strange hours…
:
very serious beahavior as well as controlling behavior of him in his prior relstionships,
as somenone who just dont wont accept that their behavior is harmful.
Example reasons for stalking=
(all thought it was just dumb- or -young love. that is was nothing dangerous)
*autism. +somewhat islated socially,
*abondament issues, wants to hang onto them more. =regain control over her lives,
and if thar meant taking her life then that was gonna happen.
*
in order for for people to get better,
=
he has to WANT it to work.
& if he has not shownd he understand what he has done is abuse,
I would be very concerned he might re-offend and escalate in his violence.
*staking, especilly in domestic violence relationships
does not necessairly get the attention that it should get, as to how serious and dangerous it could turn into, in court/jury/sentences.
= what are we going to make sure this behavior stops.
….and also, MAYBE. just maybe people can get better, change…
