As she tells him that she has no home, he takes her in. When he learns that she used to be a nun in training, he has to decide whether to marry her or try to get her back to the convent. Factored into his decision: her brother, Army Captain Enrique Vargas, who believes she is destined to be married to God; jealous Lola; and his and Estaban's own aspirations for his singing career.

After his plea, the the prosecuting DA confides that Jack would have gotten off...

While on the island, Chick's persistence pays off, and he gets the girl; then on their return to Honolulu, he is hailed as a hero and promoted to captain.

Ashore in New Bedford, he meets and falls for Faith Mapple, daughter of the local minister and beloved of Ahab's brother Derek. Faith herself quickly returns Ahab's love, as Derek is drab and ignoble. On his next voyage, however, Ahab loses a leg to the monstrous white whale Moby-Dick. When upon his return to New Bedford he mistakenly believes Faith wants nothing to do with him because of his disfigurement, Ahab returns to sea with only one goal in mind -- to find and kill the great white whale.

But Claire has another option awaiting her...a Texan from home, and she promptly accepts his marriage proposal. But the house detective comes along after the ceremony and tells Tex his version of what he thinks goes on when a woman stays in a man's suite until the crack of dawn, and that doesn't jibe with his definition of a moral woman, and he ups and leaves her. Stoddard comes along and he thinks Tex has made a mockery of the marriage vows he took a short while ago, and he tells Claire that he will marry her, as soon as she can get an annulment from that day's ceremony, and they will make a go of it because they are 'different.' Somewhere in the 24-hour setting of this film, Claire plays a piano and sings a song called "In My Dreams, You Still Belong To Me," and then does a tango with a partner; and then does a solo-dance performance, interpreting a bullfighter...in costume...in 2-strip Technicolor.
