The Oscars 2023 has an impressive list of 10 Best Picture nominees. This year’s group ranges from big blockbusters, such as Avatar: The Way of Water, to a foreign war drama with All Quiet on the Western Front. Here’s a ranking of the Best Picture nominees ranked from worst to best.
10. ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ Sigourney Weaver as Kiri | 20th Century Studios
James Cameron’s long-awaited Avatar: The Way of Water brings audiences back to the luscious world of Pandora. It’s a technical marvel, employing visual and auditory crafts to perfection. Cameron improves upon the first Avatar, but it misses out on a much-needed emotional impact. Perhaps one of the planned sequels will find a better balance and a more compelling story that could push it over the edge.
9. ‘Elvis’ Austin Butler as Elvis Presley | Warner Bros. Pictures

The son of Moustapha Akkad, the late producer of the original Halloween film series, is now developing a new thriller that has elements from the slasher horror sub-genre. The new film is called The Violent Kind and the film is being made outside of the studio system with independent financing.
Malek Akkad, Andy Gould, Michael Ferris Gibson, Jeremy Platt and K'Dee Miller will all work as producers on the film. The directors/writers will be Mitchell Altieri and Phil Flores who, under their pseudonym The Butcher Brothers, made 2006's The Hamiltons for Lionsgate. The Violent Kind centers on a group of bikers out to party but who become hunted by mysterious figures at a remote farmhouse.
Filming is scheduled to begin this month in northern California. Heroes co-star Taylor Cole won a role and two of the actors that worked with the Brothers before on The Hamiltons have also landed roles.

The Butcher Bros. - Mitchell Altieri and Phil Flores - are riding with some mean motherf**kers in The Violent Kind , a new film they're currently filming based on a script they wrote. It centers on a group of bikers whose booze 'n sex-filled party comes to an end when mysterious figures are glimpsed in the woods and a gruesome discovery is made in a secluded farmhouse. Andy Gould and Malek Akkad - producers of 2007's Halloween and the upcoming sequel - are shepherding the project with Michael Ferris Gibson and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 's executive producer Jeffrey Allard. The Butchers helmed The Hamiltons - an After Dark Films release - in 2006. They followed it up with the misguided April Fool's Day early last year. For The Violent Kind , which hopefully puts...

Violence. Secluded farmhouses. Gore. Yep, we're interested. Taking the directorial helm will be Mitchell Altieri and Phil Flores, known to horror buffs as the Butcher Brothers (The Hamiltons), who will be directing from a script that they also wrote.
