Opposition to the Academy’s plan to award eight Oscars prior to the live telecast continues to grow, with more than 350 new names — including more than a dozen Oscar-winning editors, cinematographers and production designers — added to the petition sent last week to Academy president David Rubin urging a reversal of the plan.
Among the industry professionals signing are Oscar-winning cinematographers John Seale (“The English Patient”), John Toll (“Braveheart”) and Dean Semler (“Dances With Wolves”), and Oscar-winning editors Richard Chew and Paul Hirsch (“Star Wars”), Mikkel Neilsen (“The Sound of Metal”), Pietro Scalia (“JFK”) and Zach Staenberg (“The Matrix”).
Oscar-winning production designers Hannah Beachler (“Black Panther”), Barbara Ling (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”), Adam Stockhausen (“Grand Budapest Hotel”) and David and Sandy Wasco (“La La Land”) also signed on.
Cinematography will be presented during the live show, but editing and production design are among the eight awards to be presented during the 4 p.

Kid Flash is back! Next week, Keiynan Lonsdale makes his return to The Flash for the first time in a while and these promo images tease the Flash family reunion that’s about to take place. However, Wally West is back in Central City for a reason. And it’s not a positive one. I think the title of season 5’s fourteenth episode tells you all you need to know, as it’s called “Death of the Speed Force.”
This new batch of pics showcase Grant Gustin’s Scarlet Speedster and his former sidekick working together in S.T.A.R. Labs and also teaming up in costume on the streets of Central City. Elsewhere, Cisco has returned from his travels cataloguing the various changes to the world post-Crisis. All in all, these photos paint the picture of a cheery welcome back party for Wally, but the episode’s title...

He wasn’t involved in the recent “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, but Keiynan Lonsdale is making his way back to The Flash for the show’s next episode. Titled “Death of the Speed Force,” it’ll air on March 10th and the promo above gives us a tease of the reunion we’ve all been waiting for, with Barry and Wally sharing a hug.
It doesn’t offer up much more than that unfortunately, as it’s quite short in length, but we do get to see that Wally also imparts a dire warning to the Scarlet Speedster, telling him that something is very, very wrong with the Speed Force. Ep Eric Wallace has also teased that a major comic book villain who hasn’t been seen on the TV show before will debut in the episode. Who that may be, we can’t say for sure, but for more,...

He wasn’t part of the recent “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, but Keiynan Lonsdale is finally returning to The Flash in a couple of weeks. Ep Eric Wallace has previously promised that Kid Flash’s comeback would coincide with a major development in Flash lore that would deeply affect both himself and Barry Allen. Now, the title and synopsis of the episode reveal what this entails, as the fourteenth installment of season 6 is called “The Death of the Speed Force.”
The accompanying synopsis teases that Wally will make his way back to Central City, ostensibly to reunite with his family and friends but also to impart a dire warning to the Scarlet Speedster – that he feels something is gravely wrong with the Speed Force. Wallace has hinted that a major comic book foe who hasn’t appeared on the TV show before will make their debut in this episode as well,...

It’s not often that advance promotional material paints such an odd picture of what’s to come, but next week’s episode of The Flash looks to be one of those instances. To be more specific, I’m talking about when the trailer and promo photos seemingly have nothing to do with each other and focus on drastically different plot threads.
If you’ll recall, the first video circulating ahead of “News Flash” showed Nora in an altered state of mind, looking hellbent on killing her father, that being the Scarlet Speedster himself. And oddly enough, the gallery we have for you today focuses on what appears to be a charity softball game.
So, as you navigate the slideshow found below, be prepared to see a side of Barry Allen we don’t often encounter. If anything, he’s finally living up to the nickname “Slugger” given to him by his late father.

Nora Allen might have super-speed just like her pops, but it seems the superheroine will be in need of some saving in an upcoming episode of The Flash season 5. That’s because according to this new synopsis, Barry Allen and Iris West’s daughter from the future is about to become the target of a dangerous new meta in the fourth installment of the current run.
Titled “News Flash,” the episode’s written by Kelly Wheeler & Lauren Certo and directed by Brent Crowell and will introduce Spin, a gender-swapped version of a DC comics foe who’s previously been described as “a young aspiring social media influencer who seizes the opportunity to make herself famous when she discovers there is a new hero in Central City.” The following synopsis for the episode makes it clear that it’s Nora Aka Xs that Spin targets.

Warning : Potential Spoilers Ahead.
Counsel of Wells made their debut in tonight’s episode “When Harry Met Harry” of The Flash. This team consists of the brightest Harrison Wells from across the multiverse, who had a brainstorming session to decode the identity of Devoe.
The funniest part of the episode is the Ralph Dibny’s first mission, as he fumbles and trembles in his superhero costume. We also get to see a new meta, Black Bison, a Native American woman by the real name of Mina Chayton (Chelsea Kurtz). Black Bison, essentially a marginalized woman trying to reclaim her people’s history, uses killing as a means to end, and Team Flash can’t have that. Even though it is easy to feel for the character and almost want to root for her.
So far the writers of this season came up with extraordinary comic sequences, as they prove...
