The crime drama TV series ‘Hightown”, created by Rebecca Cutter, is now airing Season 3 on Starz:
“…’Fishery Service Agent’ ‘Jackie Quiñones’ is off the wagon and off the force in the final season, but that doesn’t stop her from careening into the dark underbelly of picture-perfect Cape Cod to save a missing woman and a murdered woman.
“Meanwhile, her former colleagues ‘Ray Abruzzo’ and ‘Alan Santille’ are focused on taking down drug syndicates, but despite their best efforts, the drugs keep flowing. This attracts ‘Shane Frawley’, a gangster from Boston looking to cut himself in on the Cape’s drug trade — and making an enemy of ‘Osito’ while he’s at it.
“Alliances are made and old loyalties are questioned in this beautiful but corrupt place where nothing is as it seems.”

We're sad to report that actress Suzanne Shepherd has passed away at the age of 89, as confirmed by her agent and her daughter Kate Shepherd. A character actress who had roles in movies and TV stretching back to the 1980s, two of Shepherd's parts were practically the same role.
In "Goodfellas," Shepherd played the mother of Karen Hill (Lorraine Bracco). She has a short but memorable scene where she scolds her daughter for letting Henry (Ray Liotta) stay out so late and for marrying a Gentile man in the first place. When Henry finally comes home at the crack of dawn, she snaps at him and he walks off. This leads to the scene's comedic capstone, in which Tommy (Joe Pesci) mocks Karen's mother by nagging Henry in the same voice.
Many "Goodfellas" alums later showed up on "The Sopranos," including Bracco and Shepherd. Bracco, wanting to play a...

“Hightown” has been renewed for a third season at Starz.
The crime drama starring Monica Raymund aired its 10-episode second season between October and December of last year. In the second season of “Hightown,” the picture-perfect version of summer on Cape Cod clashes with its off-season reality. Jackie Quinones (Raymund) achieving her dream of becoming a real cop, is out to do some good in this world. Thrust immediately into the crime wave of deadly carfentanyl flooding the Cape, Jackie is laser-focused on bringing down drug dealer Frankie Cuevas (Amaury Nolasco), the man Jackie holds responsible for the death of her best friend, Junior.
For Jackie, it is personal but then again, for Jackie, everything is personal. When Frankie’s cousin Jorge (Luis Guzmán) joins his operation, he introduces a new level of violence and chaos. With disgraced officer Ray Abruzzo (James Badge Dale) off the force and mired in depression,...

Hightown Season 2 is off and running.
The series continues to impress with its compelling characters, some of the most well-written on the small screen.
Hightown Season 2 Episode 4 is set to air Sunday, November 7, and finds Renee in a wild situation.
TV Fanatic has an exclusive clip of the game-changing episode.
Leslie calls Renee to a meeting. Jackie accompanies Leslie, and Renee is immediately concerned about what the two women want.
Renee was an informant at one point, and Leslie tries to act like Renee did the department such a big favor.
Renee is too smart and knows they are both after something else, and she doesn't want to betray Frankie in the process.
The trajectory of the conversation changes the moment Leslie says they want Jorge.
Jorge has been getting under Renee's skin since his arrival on Hightown Season 2 Episode 1, so of course she would love nothing more than to see his downfall.

This article contains light spoilers for The Many Saints of Newark.
The Sopranos prequel film, The Many Saints of Newark is David Chase’s return to the New Jersey city where his families lived, worked, and occasionally breathed their last. The film focuses on Christopher Moltisanti’s (Michael Imperioli) father Dickie Molitisanti (Alessandro Nivola), and his struggle with doing the right thing against things that have to be done right. He is very supportive of the film’s most important supporting role. Michael Gandolfini, the 22-year-old son of James Gandolfini, plays a young Tony Soprano.
While the film doesn’t explore Christopher’s claim that his father, Tony’s hero, was a junkie, it does fill in many of the plot points which lead to events in the series. But not all. Not even close. The young Tony Soprano is only a pinky swear away from living a legitimate life,...

Will having a badge now make it easier for Jackie Quinones (Monica Raymund) to take down drug dealer Frankie Cuevas (Amaury Nolasco), whom she holds responsible for her best friend Junior’s (Shane Harper) death? Based on the trailer for Hightown Season 2, it’s seems the answer is: no, not at all. “Frankie’s been out of prison a month and a half, and we haven’t done s**t,” she says. Who can blame her for being frustrated, especially since it looks like she’s having nightmares about Junior? But there’s a new product (deadly carfentanyl) on the street, flooding Cape Cod, and it’s up to the force to find out where it’s coming from and shut it down. Jackie has a new partner in the only other female on the force, Leslie (Tonya Glanz). Meanwhile, disgraced officer Ray Abruzzo (James Badge Dale) is still off the force,...

That’s a new uniform for Hightown’s Jackie Quiñones. In the second season of Starz’s dark crime drama (premiering October 17), the Cape Cod-based National Marine Fisheries Service agent (played by Chicago Fire alum Monica Raymund) is promoted to the Massachusetts State Police. She’s thrown immediately into the crime wave of deadly carfentanyl flooding the Cape. And while drug kingpin Frankie Cuevas (Amaury Nolasco), whom she holds responsible for her best friend Junior’s (Shane Harper) overdose, has been recently released from jail, now she can go after him in a more official manner. But it’ll get more complicated, violent, and chaotic when Frankie’s cousin Jorge (Luis Guzmán) joins his operation. Jackie gets a new partner in the only other female on the force, Leslie (Tonya Glanz), since Ray Abruzzo (James Badge Dale) is off the force following the events of Season 1 and mired in depression.

He continues in an exclusive interview with Gold Derby about the new drama on Starz co-led by Monica Raymund (watch the video above), “It drew me in that way of sometimes, things you’re scared of — sometimes, things you have a fear of, it’s worth diving into and trying to explore these parts of yourself.” Dale admits about playing the role, “The hardest thing is sometimes to have fun with being unlikable; the hardest thing is to go out there and put your ego aside.” Adding that Ray has “a tornado of a personality,” he explains, “We all want to be likable in some way and Ray does care about being likable, but he’s a very abrasive personality.”

The level of nuance in the storytelling on “Hightown,” a new hour-long drug thriller from Starz, can be easily illustrated by a fake internet comment shown under a news item about the show’s inciting murder: “Drug addicts are ruining the Cape!” Imagine someone barking that in a Massachusetts accent with all the subtlety of a cocaine-covered rainbow flag, and you’ve got the basic gist of “Hightown.” The gritty crime drama swirls around an eclectic mix of an unusual setting, hackneyed plot tropes, and some of television’s most insidious stereotypes. That’s perhaps not surprising given the hook of the show, which is predicated on the juxtaposition of setting a hard-nosed drug thriller in Provincetown, the utopian gay vacation town at the very tip of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Launching this weekend on Starzplay, we’re excited to say that to mark the release of Hightown we had the pleasure of partaking in a remote, virtual junket (the way it is these days) with one of the show’s leading stars, James Badge Dale, sporting a rather fantastic moustache, we should add.
We discuss the role, and project with Dale, who plays the renegade detective Ray Abruzzo, amidst a complex murder case set against the Cape Cod background. Dale tells us about accessing the role of a detective, and whether he learnt anything from the role. We also ask for an update on Rebel Ridge, where he is set to star alongside our very own John Boyega.

Titled after the Southern Italian tradition that made its way across the Atlantic to become a part of many Italian-American families’ Christmas Eve celebrations, Robert Tinnell’s adaptation of his own graphic novel/recipe book Feast of the Seven Fishes does well to center itself upon its food even if the people eating it prove the real focal point. It’s probably not a coincidence then that most of our attention is specifically spent on seven teens with a direct or peripheral connection to dinner at Grandpa Johnny’s (Paul Ben-Victor). What transpires wouldn’t be the same without each of them participating similar to how the meal couldn’t survive the removal of a single seafood favorite. And as the fish follow the baccalà’s culinary lead, the characters find themselves taking their cues from Tony (Skyler Gisondo).

Jean Zarzour, Ray Abruzzo, Joe Pantoliano, Lynn Cohen, and Paul Ben-Victor in Robert Tinnell’s memorable and smart Feast Of The Seven Fishes
Robert Tinnell’s memorable and smart Feast Of The Seven Fishes, shot by Jamie Thompson, production design by Jason Baker, costumes by Joshua Hurt, edited by Aaron J Shelton, and a score by Matt Mariano, has a great ensemble cast including Paul Ben-Victor (Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman), Joe Pantoliano, Skyler Gisondo, Madison Iseman, Ray Abruzzo, Lynn Cohen, Jean Zarzour, Addison Timlin, Josh Helman, Andrew Schulz, Jessica Darrow, Cameron Rostami, David Kallaway, Tony Bingham, and Nancy Telzerow,
When I met with screenwriter/director Robert Tinnell for a conversation, he told me how much the film is based on his childhood memories. The time is Christmas 1983, the place a small Appalachian town in West Virginia. An extended Italian American family is readying to celebrate the Feast Of The Seven Fishes.

"I turn my back for one minute, and you guys screw up Christmas!" Shout Studios has debuted a trailer for a "deliciously warm and inviting, feel-good family gathering" film titled Feast of the Seven Fishes, from writer / director Robert Tinnell. A slice of life story that follows a large Italian family on Christmas Eve as they prepare for the traditional "Feast of the Seven Fishes" (also an Italian cookbook), reminisce about the past, and seek love in the future. Set in 1983, just days before Christmas, the Oliverio family readies their Feast of the Seven Fishes, an Italian tradition stretching back to the old country of Calabria. The full cast includes Skyler Gisondo, Madison Iseman, Josh Helman, Addison Timlin, Ray Abruzzo, Lynn Cohen, with Joe Pantoliano and Paul Ben-Victor. This seems like such an oddly quaint film for these days - nothing crazy happens, just a family getting together for the holidays with a big feast.
