In the 1960s, he taught English and drama at the Cardinal Griffin Secondary Modern School in London.
He was one (and final) of four actors whom appeared in The Great Escape (1963) to pass away in the last six months of 2014, the others were (in order) are James Garner, Richard Attenborough and Angus Lennie.
His fine voice featured on numerous TV commercials (Aero Biscuits, Stannah Stairlifts) and on the British digital television channel E4.
His advert for Stannah Stairlifts was still being shown on TV seven months after he had died.
He passed away only 16 days after Joanna Dunham whom he appeared on-screen with in The House That Dripped Blood (1970).
