One of Latin America’s biggest genre propositions, the Latido Films-sold “Virus 32,” from Uruguayan director Gustavo Hernandez (“You Shall Not Sleep”), was unveiled Tuesday on the A Demain Cannes market platform.
The $1 million pic is a 50-50 Argentina-Uruguay co-production between Aeroplano, run by Sebastian Aloi, and Mother Superior Films, run by Hernandez and Ignacio García Cucucovich.
In addition to subsidy support from Argentina and Uruguay, the horror-thriller has funding from private investors and a pre-sale to Buena Vista for Latin American rights, including a theatrical release in Argentina and Uruguay. Rest of the world rights, including U.S. rights, are sold by Latido.
The video presentation of the new project featured producer Aloi, director Hernandez and screenwriter Juma Fodde Roma.
The story unrolls in a 24-hour period, and is shot in the 13,000 sq. ft. abandoned Neptuno Sports Club in Montevideo. It was written prior to the Covid-19 pandemic and...

We reported earlier about Warner Brothers getting into the low budget/high profit horror arena with Primal Pictures, and now we have some pretty nifty casting news for a little flick called Hidden!
According to Variety, "True Blood" star Alexander Skarsgard is set to topline Warner Bros.' Hidden, which twin brothers Matt and Ross Duffer will direct from their own spec script.
The project is an elevated horror-thriller (hate that buzz term) about a family hiding in a bomb shelter after escaping a mysterious outbreak.
Roy Lee, Mason Novick, Lawrence Grey and Richard Zanuck will produce, while John Middleton and Sebastian Aloi will exec produce. Jon Berg will oversee the project for Warner Bros.
WB acquired the Duffers' spec late last year in a competitive situation. The deal contained progress-to-production language, indicating that the studio was anxious to start filming rather than allow the project to languish in development.

Germs, super germs, and super duper germs will no doubt be the cause of the extinction of the human race, and while we all wait patiently for the end to come, enterprising filmmakers continue to mine the apocalypse genre for all that it's worth.
According to Variety Warner Bros. Pictures has purchased the spec script Hidden from twin brothers and recent college graduates Matt and Ross Duffer, who are also set to direct the film that the studio is committed to starting as early as 2012.
The project is an elevated horror-thriller (there's that ridiculous term for a movie light on gore and heavy on atmosphere again) about a family hiding in a bomb shelter after escaping a mysterious outbreak.
Roy Lee, Mason Novick and Lawrence Grey will produce, while John Middleton and Sebastian Aloi will executive produce. More as it comes.
