There he also wrote numerous lyrics for popular songs, among others also for the Comedian Harmonists.

Besides his activity as a lyricist Charles Amberg also wrote several screenplays.
Because they assumed that Charles Amberg nee Karl Amberg had a Jewish background he was arrested in the KZ Neuengamme during World War II. He survived the KZ but died only one year later at the age of only 51.
