Speaking from personal experience, I will say that whenever an oversized anniversary issue hits stands that collectors will ready their wallets, regardless of whether they’ve been actively following the series in question. So, when Amazing Spider-Man #25 ships next month, expect it to fly off shelves even though it will likely be sold at a higher price when you factor in the knowledge that it will be 96 pages strong.
When it comes to content, readers can look forward to a 40-page main story in the form of the cleverly titled “The Osborn Identity.” As you can no doubt surmise, stalwart writer Dan Slott will reunite Peter Parker with his longtime nemesis Norman Osborn as a new storyline kicks off. Furthermore, fan favorite artist Stuart Immonen has been confirmed to join the party as well.
As for the other 56 pages,...

We're always happy when readers can add some interesting angles to our coverage of retro films. Here is a letter we received from Canadian subscriber Andrew Merey:
"Further to your review of Room 43, it should be noted the movie has a terrific main title jazz theme by British composer Ken Jones (he also did the music for Fire Down Below (1957) and Tarzan Goes to India (1962)). The Room 43 title them was released as a single on Warner Bros. (5078)in 1959. Ray Anthony also recorded his own interpretation of the Room 43 theme (Capitol 4275) also in 1959."
Retro responds: Thanks for sharing this info, Andy...it adds another dimension to a worthwhile British low-budget effort that has much to recommend about it. ...

Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris know they are not a conventional couple. So, why settle for a convention wedding when the pair will exchange their vows on June 18? "The dress is not going to be white," Harris tells People of the Romona Keveza gown she's selected for the occasion. "I love pink! So, the dress will be pink and Hef and I want the wedding to be just a lot of different colors and to just look beautiful." Harris, 24, and Hefner, 84, are in the midst of planning, "and it's pretty great that we haven't argued about anything yet," Harris says.

From the moment that Hal Holmes and I slipped quietly into his basement and he showed me his father's hidden collection of Playboy magazines, the map of my emotional geography shifted toward Chicago. In that magical city lived a man named Hugh Hefner who had Playmates possessing wondrous bits and pieces I had never seen before. I wanted to be invited to his house.
I was trembling on the brim of puberty, and aroused not so much by the rather sedate color "centerfold" of an undressed woman, as by the black and white photos that accompanied them. These showed an ordinary woman (I believe it was Janet Pilgrim) entering an office building in Chicago, and being made up for her "pictorial." Made up! Two makeup artists were shown applying powders and creams to her flesh. This electrified me. It made Pilgrim a real person. In an interview she spoke of her life and ambitions.

Earle Hagen, Emmy-winning composer of some of the most memorable musical themes in TV history and the man heard whistling the theme song of "The Andy Griffith Show," died Monday of natural causes at his home in Rancho Mirage, Calif. He was 88.
In addition to writing the folksy "Andy Griffith" tune, Hagen penned the themes for "The Dick Van Dyke Show," "The Danny Thomas Show," "I Spy," "That Girl," "The Mod Squad" and "Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer," many for famed TV director Sheldon Leonard.
Hagen composed original music for more than 3,000 episodes during his TV career, which spanned more than three decades.
The composer also was active in the film business, mostly as an arranger and orchestrator for 20th Century Fox. He received a 1960 Oscar nomination (shared with Lionel Newman) as musical director for the Marilyn Monroe film "Let's Make Love."
