It won’t be too much longer before film fans clock eyes on Channing Tatum’s Remy LeBeau.
Truth be told, the former Magic Mike star has been attached to the card-wielding mutant for years – and we do mean years – but it looks as though that unwavering loyalty is about to pay off dividends, as Gambit is within arm’s reach of entering production in earnest.
As reported by Omega Underground, the spinoff, one which is coming by way of Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean), will begin filming in March, when New Orleans will play host to the long-gestating X-Men project for a total of 10 weeks. Perhaps most interesting of all is the alleged budget, as Nola mentions $155 million. Chalk this up as an early estimate, though, as Nola appears to be citing an old listing dated for 2015.

Remy LeBeau is inching ever closer to his big-screen debut.
Variety is reporting today that Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex) has signed on to play the female lead in Gambit. She’ll join Channing Tatum for Fox’s X-Men spinoff, though details of her role are practically non-existent this early in the game.
20th Century Fox refused to comment at the time of Variety’s scoop, but that hasn’t stopped curious fans from linking Caplan’s casting with the seemingly vacant role of Bella Donna. Prior to Gambit‘s well-documented production woes – both Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt had flirted with the spinoff, before Fox ultimately handed the keys over to Gore Verbinski – rumors began to circulate that Léa Seydoux (Spectre) had been offered the part.
Alas, those tentative plans unraveled soon after Gambit was hit with one setback after another, though a recent casting call has meant that...

Slowly but surely, 20th Century Fox’s Gambit spinoff is beginning to fall into place.
Channing Tatum, who has been the one constant since the X-Men offshoot was announced, remains attached to the part of Remy LeBeau, while the studio recently staked out a concrete release date (spoilers: it’s Valentine’s Day 2019).
Details are still few and far between, but That Hashtag Show has now relayed a list of character descriptions that suggest Fox is casting with sequels in mind – a fair portion of the vacant parts come bearing the caveat, “role requires sequel options.” From what we understand, all of the names used are merely codenames, so don’t read too much into that – for what it’s worth, Mariya appears to be a pseudonym for Bella Donna, the role given to Léa Seydoux prior to Gambit‘s production woes.

Now that X-Men spinoff movie Gambit has finally been confirmed as moving forward, with Channing Tatum in the titular role, speculation is beginning to swirl around the identity of the villain of the piece. While there are a number of possibilities – including Mister Sinister, whose presence was teased at the end of X-Men: Apocalypse – hopes are building that the movie might provide the big screen debut of Gambit arch-enemy, Candra.
With female villainy being brought front and centre by the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe outing Thor: Ragnarok, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that 20th Century Fox might take that superhero lead and embrace a primary antagonist that’s also a woman. Doing so in this case would deliver a character who would make her debut alongside a new version of the card-throwing mutant – and rightly so.

Stevie Nicks is opening up about the final moments she spent with the late Tom Petty — and the last time she watched him perform.
In a revealing interview with Rolling Stone, 69-year-old Nicks recalled performing with Petty and The Heartbreakers in July at London’s Hyde Park before sitting with Shania Twain to watch Petty own the stage.
“Shania and I watched Tom’s show and sang at the top of our lungs,” the legendary singer told the publication. “I look back on that and what a magical moment that was: Shania got to stand there with me and watch my boys.

It looks like Fox has found their new director for Channing Tatum's big screen adaptation of Marvel's Gambit. According to Deadline, the studio is currently making a deal with Gore Verbinski to direct the film.
Verbinski is best known for his work on The Ring, The Pirates of the Caribbean film, The Lone Ranger, A Cure For Wellness, and the Bioshock movie that he never got to make. He's a hit or miss director. I like some of the films that he's made. I do like his visual style of filmmaking, but sometimes his films just aren't good... I'm looking at you Lone Ranger.
That doesn't mean he's going to drop the ball on Gambit. I actually think Gambit will be a good film project for him that will align with his strengths as a filmmaker. I hope this works out because I kinda dig his style.

Channing Tatum's Gambit movie is still in development and everyone involved seems excited about the direction that they are looking to take it. You can thank Logan and Deadpool for opening certain doors to make sure this Gambit movie is going to be done right. I honestly think the film could end up being great, especially if they take in the direction that was previously rumored.
According to that rumor, Mr. Sinister is involved with the story they are going to tell and according to a report from Splash Report, the studio is looking at casting Daniel Craig in the role of the villain and if that's true, Craig would be awesome! He is a perfect fit!
If this is true it would reunite Craig and Tatum who worked together in Steven Soderberg's Lucky Logan, which was a fantastic film that you have to see if you haven't already.

As you all know, Channing Tatum's Gambit movie has gone through some hard times. It's been in development hell for awhile, but according to Tatum, it's all been for the better of the development of the film. The movie is now said to be inspired more by what Deadpool and Logan have done.
I've been curious to know what direction they are going to take the story and now we might have an idea of what is being planned for the film. Splash Page claims to have details on a plot outline for the film, and they describe it as "the Oceans 11 of the comic book genre". They also say that the movie will include mutants such as Rictor, Fifolet, Dani Moonstar, Multiple Man, Marrow, and a "blue X-Men regular", which could be Mystique, Beast, or Nightcrawler. Here's the plot summary that report shared:
Remy Lebeau (Channing Tatum) is on trial in New-Orleans.

Too often we hear of film projects falling apart when a director/star walks away or, in the more common scenario, a studio pulls the plug altogether. From Fantastic Four 2 to Sony’s fabled Sinister Six crossover, you don’t have to search too far to locate a big-name project that failed to get off the ground. Thankfully, Gambit isn’t one of them.
Yes, the X-Men spinoff has encountered one setback after another since it was first announced, but despite all those frustrating false starts, Channing Tatum remains attached to headline as the ice-cool Remy LeBeau. That’s the real name of the titular hero, a card-playing Cajun who hails from New Orleans. Originally portrayed by Taylor Kitsch in the widely derided X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the torch has since been passed over to Tatum, whose long-time affinity for the character stretches all the way back to childhood.

After all of the drama surrounding Fox’s planned Gambit movie, a director was finally settled on in Edge of Tomorrow‘s Doug Liman – but that wasn’t the end of the X-Men spinoff’s problems. About a month ago we found out that the movie would not make its original October 2016 release, and now THR reports that it’s been pushed back yet again.
Though no specific release date is given, production isn’t even expected to kick off until late 2016, so it’ll most likely be well into 2107 before Gambit hits theaters. Liman is currently working on a script rewrite, but he’ll actually helm another movie before cameras role on Remy LeBeau’s solo outing: psychological thriller The Wall for Amazon Studios.

An X-Men spin-off for the Ragin' Cajun Gambit with Channing Tatum (Hail, Caesar!) starring and Doug Liman (Edge Of Tomorrow) directing is certainly on the way, but it sounds like it'll be a little later than initially expected and for good reason. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that with Gambit currently in the midst of rewrites, which are being overseen by the Edge Of Tomorrow & Bourne Identity director, the film's production start date has unsurprisingly been moved to late 2016. The shift has also freed up Liman to direct The Wall, a psychological thriller, for Amazon Studios this summer before launching principal photography on Gambit in the fall. Additionally, The Wrap adds that Liman is expected to start his casting search from the ground up, meaning that Lea Seydoux (Spectre), who was cast as Bella Donna Boudreaux back in August 2015 and the only confirmed cast member outside of the long-attached Tatum,...

Unsurprisingly, 20th Century Fox has pushed back the start of production on its "X-Men" spin-off feature "Gambit" starring Channing Tatum.
The project was originally aiming to begin production this month but now Heat Vision reports that re-writes of the film's script, with "Magic Mike" writer Reid Carolin penning the latest draft, has pushed back filming until the end of the year.
Due to the delay the film's director Doug Liman ("Edge of Tomorrow") is looking to take on the smaller scale Amazon Studios' psychological thriller "The Wall" first. Liman would direct the film in the late spring or early summer before returning to work on "Gambit".
In "Gambit," Tatum will play the titular New Orleans mutant Remy LeBeau opposite Lea Seydoux as Assassins Guild leader Bella Donna Boudreaux who is also Remy's first love. Originally slated for an October release, no new date has yet been set.

It's looking like Gambit has found his director in Doug Liman! Read on for more information about this Director.
After Rupert Wyatt left the project, there were a lot of directors rumored to be in the running to direct Fox's latest Mutant adaptation, Gambit. Shane Black, F. Gary Gray, and John Cornish to be exact.
However, The Hollywood Reporter is now reporting that Doug Liman is in final negotiations to direct the Cajun Mutant.
Let's get to know a little of about Mr. Liman. You may not have heard of him but you definitely know of his work. He had a hand in every single Bourne movie starring Matt Damon and even directed The Bourne Identity. Plus, he's the man behind one of the greatest power couples in Hollywood as he was the director of Mr. & Mrs. Smith! His latest piece of directing that you'd know about was Tom Cruise's futuristic respawning movie,...

Not much is known yet about the plot of Channing Tatum's upcoming "X-Men" spinoff flick, "Gambit," including whether or not fellow mutant Rogue will make an appearance. Now, actress Anna Paquin, who plays Rogue in the series, may have an answer.
In a Twitter exchange with fans earlier this week, Paquin was asked point-blank whether or not she will be in "Gambit." Paquin's response? A simple "no."
@ChargeTheCards @_Lady_S_ @shailenewoodley no
- Anna Paquin (@AnnaPaquin) September 27, 2015
But when the media ran with that quote, stating definitively that Paquin wouldn't be in the flick, the actress backtracked a bit, updating Twitter once more to clarify that her statement "wasn't a press release" and that she just supplied "the information that I currently have." So does that mean that she will appear in the movie after all?

20th Century Fox’s long-in-development X-Men spinoff Gambit has hit a roadblock, with Deadline bringing word that director Rupert Wyatt has exited the project before filming could get underway.
Things look to have taken a turn for the better for Fox’s standalone feature after casting Blue is the Warmest Color and Spectre starlet Lea Seydoux in the role of Bella Donna Bourdreaux, though today’s report will no doubt call the superhero film’s 2016 release date into question.

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that director Rupert Wyatt (Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes) has dropped out of 20th Century Fox's upcoming X-Men spin-off film Gambit, which is set to star Channing Tatum (21st Jump Street) as the Ragin' Cajun and Léa Seydoux (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol) as Bella Donna Boudreaux. Details about his departure are still coming in, but The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the primary reason he decided to leave was because of script complications, which have led to an increased budget and in turn, a delayed production start date causing a conflict with one of Wyatt's prior committments. Wyatt confirmed his departure in a statement released earlier today: "I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" scene stealer Rebecca Ferguson has reportedly emerged at the top of the list of Marvel Studios candidates to play Captain Marvel in the character's solo film says Heroic Hollywood.
Ferguson, who was also recently on the shortlist for the part of Bella Donna in the Channing Tatum-led "Gambit" film, took herself out of the running for that project due to her commitments to Tate Taylor's "The Girl on the Train."
Here, if she were to get the gig, she would play Carol Danvers in the film. It's a role her 'Girl' co-star Emily Blunt has also been closely linked to in recent months.
Nicole Perlman and Megan LeFauve are penning the script for what is Marvel Studios' first female-led superhero film which is expected to begin filming late next year for a November 2018 release.

After co-winning the Palme d’Or for her turn in the sultry French drama Blue Is the Warmest Color, Léa Seydoux doesn't seem to be having trouble landing roles in franchise blockbusters. The newest Bond Girl has now been offered the part of Bella Donna Boudreaux in the Channing Tatum–starring Gambit, according to Deadline. The role was highly sought-after, with Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation), and Seydoux on the short list; Ferguson dropped out to take a role in Tate Taylor’s The Girl on the Train, and the role went to Seydoux. Bella Donna, who also goes by Belladonna, Belle, and Bel, first appeared in X-Men in 1992. A childhood friend of Gambit and a deft assassin, she has similar energy-generating powers (though she doesn't throw playing cards at people). She eventually married the Cajun card-thrower before hiring someone to murder him.

According to reports, actress Léa Seydoux ("Spectre") has been offered the female lead in director Rupert Wyatt's "X-Men" solo feature "Gambit", starring Channing Tatum:
Seydoux would play mutant 'Bella Donna Boudreaux', originally the childhood sweetheart of 'Remy LeBeau' aka the mutant 'Gambit'.
In adulthood, the two become bitter enemies after Bella assumes leadership from her father as head of the 'Assassin's Guild', while Remy leads the 'Thieve's Guild'.
Created by Jim Lee and Scott Lobdell for Marvel Comics, Bella debuted in "X-Men" (Volume 2) #8.
Her powers include Astral Projection, Blast Power, Magic (voodoo) and Stealth.

Channing Tatum's card-hurling Cajun Gambit has finally found his leading lady.

French actress Lea Seydoux is in talks to play the female lead opposite Channing Tatum in 20th Century Fox’s comic book movie “Gambit,” an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap. TheWrap was the first outlet to reveal that Seydoux was up for the coveted role of Bella Donna Boudreaux, who is Gambit’s first love. Insiders were initially concerned that Seydoux wouldn’t be able to pull off a Cajun accent but those fears appear to have been allayed. Rupert Wyatt is directing “Gambit,” which Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner are producing with Tatum and Reid Carolin.

She was said to be the favourite, and now "Blue is the Warmest Color" star Lea Seydoux ("Spectre," "Blue is the Warmest Color") has reportedly been offered the female lead role in the "X-Men" spin-off feature "Gambit" for 20th Century Fox.
Seydoux would play Bella Donna Boudreaux, the daughter of the leader of the New Orleans Assassins' Guild and the first love of Gambit himself Remy LeBeau (Channing Tatum) who was a member of the Thieves' Guild. He wound up marrying Bella as part of an arranged ceremony to unite the guilds but when things went bad he fled New Orleans.
Rupert Wyatt ("Rise of the Planet of the Apes") helms from a script by Josh Zemuter which is based on a treatment by Chris Claremont. Tatum, Reid Carolin, Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg are producing.
"Gambit" is currently slated to go before cameras in October ahead of an October 2016 release.

Rebecca Ferguson was one of the highlights of Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, so when it was announced that her, Lea Seydoux and Abbey Lee were on the shortlist to play the female lead in Fox’s X-Men spinoff, Gambit, many fans hoped to see the Swedish actress land the role. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen, as Ferguson has taken herself out of the running to star in another movie.
According to Deadline, she’ll join Emily Blunt in the Tate Taylor-directed adaptation of Paula Hawkins’ novel The Girl On The Train, playing a character named Anna. So, unless we hear of anyone else emerging as a contender, we can assume that it’ll be either Lea Seydoux (Spectre, Blue is the Warmest Color), or Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) that will end up playing the daughter of the leader of the New Orleans Assassins’ Guild, Bella Donna Boudreaux.

After the rumours that Channing Tatum would be leaving Gambit turned out to be untrue, talk has quickly turned instead to who will play his leading lady.
Hot tips so far are Spectre's Lea Seydoux and Rebecca Ferguson, who is currently starring in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation alongside Tom Cruise.
Gambit director Rupert Wyatt is also apparently considering Mad Max: Fury Road's Abbey Lee, according to Deadline.
All are being courted for the role of Bella Donna Boudreaux, Gambit's love interest.
Bella has mutant powers herself and eventually ends up joining the Assassins Guild while Gambit is a member of the rival Thieves Guild.
Although Tatum has signed up to his own Gambit film, the finer details of possible appearances in other films in the X-Men universe are still unclear.

Channing Tatum is finally signed and ready to lead Fox's X-Men spin-off Gambit. Whether you think it's a smart move for Tatum to hitch his rising star to a superhero movie is up for debate, but the one thing I appreciate about Tatum's film selection is he seems to make movies he wants to make, something he might have learned after starring in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Sasha Grey’s latest film is ‘about as transgressive as a 16-year-old showing off their hickeys’
Last year, former porn star Michelle Sinclair got a text from Joaquin Phoenix, asking her if she’d like to audition for an upcoming Paul Thomas Anderson movie. Sinclair queried whether the role – a small but pivotal one in Anderson’s inscrutable Thomas Pynchon adaptation Inherent Vice – would require her to undress, and when Phoenix said it would, she politely declined. According to an interview Sinclair gave Vice earlier this year, Anderson himself was bewildered by the decision. “Paul was like, ‘What are you talking about? This is a major motion picture. Are you crazy?’”
Sinclair ultimately relented, but it’s not hard to see why she might have been reluctant to disrobe in her first mainstream performance. While Hollywood has finally started taking its sibling industry’s calls, the roles afforded to porn retirees remain shallow and cynical.
