Grant Gustin’s The Flash is considered one of the most prominent superhero shows before it ended after 9 seasons in 2023. The Arrowverse show was first announced as a spin-off to Arrow, where Gustin first appeared as Barry Allen.
While Stephen Amell’s Arrow was a significant hit among viewers, the makers were not sure if The Flash would also bear similar results. However, they knew that even if the show failed, they could not afford to lose Gustin, and cleverly planned to pave a way to make him stay in the Arrowverse.

We know that a Booster Gold Max series is in the very early staged of development, but a recent rumor claimed that the project might be quite a bit further along than we realized.
According to the report, filming is scheduled for July, and the lead role has been cast - though there was no mention of which actor supposedly landed the part. Considering it's pretty much been radio silence on the show since it was first announced, this update seemed a little shaky, and DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn has now debunked the rumor.
The Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad director was asked if "the rumor that Booster Gold will be recorded on July 8th true? Will it be the next big Dcu series after Peacemaker Season 2 or will it be Amanda Waller's series" on his recent Ma and Pa Kent post, and responded: "Although...

The Dcu is bustling with various projects underway, from the animated ‘Creature Commandos’ to the highly anticipated ‘Superman’ slated for a 2025 release, and the recently updated release date for ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.’
Among these, the upcoming ‘Booster Gold’ TV show, centered around the titular hero, often flies under the radar.
A recent production listing indicated that ‘Booster Gold’ was set to begin filming on July 8th. James Gunn and Peter Safran were listed as producers, and John Papsidera as casting director. However, this raised eyebrows considering this year was earmarked for ‘Superman,’ ‘Waller,’ and ‘Peacemaker’ season 2. James Gunn himself addressed the speculation on his Threads account, confirming that ‘Booster Gold’ is indeed in development but production is not imminent.
It’s logical to assume that if production were truly imminent, we’d already be inundated with leaks and rumors about casting, costumes, and the overall plot of the show.

Dcu has plenty of projects in the works, starting with the animated ‘Creature Commandos’ to ‘Superman’ bound to be released in 2025, and ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ which recently got a release date update.
One project that is rarely talked about when it comes to the Dcu is the upcoming ‘Booster Gold’ TV Show, focusing on the hero of the same name.
Recently, a production listing stated that ‘Booster Gold’ is entering production on July 8th. James Gunn was listed as producer along with Peter Safran, with John Papsidera being credited as casting director. While this did seem odd since we know that this year was reserved for ‘Superman,’ ‘Waller’ and ‘Peacemaker’ season 2 production, our suspicions were confirmed by Gunn who debunked the whole thing via his Threads account.
Gunn cleared up that ‘Booster Gold’ is still being worked on but production is not imminent.

Greg Berlanti developed the superhero drama series Arrow, which started a new era for DC television. The series was not only extremely popular but also spawned several spin-offs, leading to the birth of the Arrowverse. However, the series wasn’t Berlanti’s first foray into the world of DC Comics adaptations.
Greg Berlanti developed Arrow after a bitter experience with Green Lantern.
Berlanti first took a crack at a DC Comics property as a writer for the 2011 film Green Lantern. However, Berlanti was fired from the critically panned film before finding success with Arrow. As a result, Berlanti had one request before tackling the story of the Emerald Archer and bringing it to the small screen. Here is what Berlanti had to say about his involvement in Arrow after his firing from Green Lantern.

Despite not being connected to the larger Arrowverse, ‘Superman & Lois’ is easily the best CW superhero show in terms of quality writing. The show did have its ups and downs, especially last year.
After Nexstar acquired CW and the network was bound to be restructured, ‘Superman & Lois’ survived the onslaught during which many shows were canceled. This led to some of the main cast being let go, fewer writers, and the episode count was slashed compared to previous seasons. Now after several months of filming the last season of ‘Superman & Lois’ has wrapped filming, ready for the Fall 2024 release date.
Now a few months before the show is about to air, The CW’s President of Entertainment Brad Schwartz has nothing but words of praise for the final season of the popular superhero show. Even though it’s not part of the larger Arrowverse, ‘Superman & Lois’ stands out as the CW’s top superhero show, boasting high-quality writing. While it faced challenges, especially last year, the series managed to survive Nexstar’s acquisition of CW, which led to restructuring and numerous cancellations across the network.
This resulted in some main cast members being released, fewer writers onboard, and a reduced episode count compared to past seasons. Now, after several months of filming, production on the final season of ‘Superman & Lois’ has concluded, gearing up for its Fall 2024 release.
Just ahead of its anticipated airing, Brad Schwartz, The CW’s President of Entertainment, is full of praise for the upcoming final season of the beloved superhero series. In an interview with TVLine, he highlighted that this season stands alone, offering a self-contained storyline that can be enjoyed even without prior knowledge of the show’s past seasons.

When Gunn & Safran assumed leadership roles as co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studio, they unveiled plans for a comprehensive revamp of the old Dceu, introducing a multitude of projects spanning live-action films, television series, and animated shows.
While several projects are currently in production, including the highly anticipated ‘Superman’ slated for a 2025 release and ‘Creature Commandos,’ the inaugural project under the newly established Dcu label, one project that has received relatively little attention is the upcoming ‘Booster Gold’ TV Show, centered around the titular hero. However, it appears that this will soon change, as the show has received a significant production update.
As per the Production List, the show is slated to commence production on July 8, 2024, just a few weeks from now. This suggests that DC Studio has likely secured its Booster Gold. Apart from this detail, the production listing is rather limited, which is typical for projects of similar magnitude.

When Gunn & Safran took over DC Studio as co-chairmen and co-CEOs, they announced a complete overhaul of the old Dceu and announced a large number of projects ranging from live-action movies to live-action TV shows and animated series. We know that several projects are currently in production such as ‘Superman’ bound to be released in 2025 and ‘Creature Commandos’ the first project to be released under the newly coined Dcu label.
One project that is rarely talked about when it comes to the Dcu is the upcoming ‘Booster Gold’ TV Show, focusing on the hero of the same name. It seems however that this won’t remain the case for long as the show received a massive production update.
According to the Production List, the show is expected to enter production on July 8, 2024, which is only a few weeks away. Based on that information we can assume that DC Studio has found its Booster Gold.

The alternate reality "Captain Luthor" really being John Henry Irons was a huge twist in Superman & Lois' first season. The character, played by Wolé Parks, has had a recurring presence in the series ever since and donned an impressive suit of armour on several occasions.
He's even earned himself the "Man of Steel" moniker, but a newly revealed photo from Superman & Lois' series finale seemingly confirms John will finally suit up as Steel.
As you'll see in the photo below, graffiti depicts Irons in his trademark armour, albeit with a red cape and Superman's iconic "S" shield on his chest. While this could be little more than an Easter Egg, season 4 may see him finally take on that iconic "Steel" moniker as another of Metropolis' protectors.

Following its huge success with Red, White & Royal Blue, the adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s bestseller, which last year came in as one of its top three most-watched romantic comedies of all time, Amazon MGM Studios has greenlighted development on a sequel, with stars Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez set to return.
After making his feature debut with the first film, Matthew López has returned to write the script for the sequel — this time, alongside McQuiston. Berlanti Schechter Films’ Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter will return to produce the film, joined by the banner’s Michael McGrath, as well as López. McQuiston will executive produce.
Released last August, Red, White & Royal Blue follows Alex Claremont-Diaz (Perez), who upon his mother’s (Uma Thurman) election as President, is promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, brilliant — his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House.

The original film chronicles the how the First Son of the United States, Alex Claremont-Diaz (Perez), and Prince Henry (Galitzine), third in line to the British throne, navigate the classic trajectory of transforming from bitter enemies into passionate lovers, while having to keep their relationship from going public and becoming international media sensations. The cast and producers of Red, White & Royal Blue — Prime Video’s breakout movie based on the bestselling novel by Casey McQuiston — acknowledge there is a fantastical element to their hit rom-com that stars Uma Thurman, Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez: A female U.S. president. A gay prince from across the pond who falls head over heals with her bisexual Mexican-American son. A delicious wrestling match between the two men in a mound of wedding cake.
But such a fantasy — besides charming the heck out of Gen Z viewers who love a good romance — could stand to make a difference in this otherwise contentious election year.
“Sometimes you don’t get the fantasy of Uma Thurman as president, but the reality of the choice that you’re facing is enormous and will affect your life and the life of a lot of disenfranchised and disadvantaged people,...

Billy Baker is back — somehow.
Taye Diggs will guest star in the May 20 of the CW’s “All American,” on which he played Billy Baker until the character died in Season 5. It it not yet known how exactly Billy will be incorporated into the episode, which will mark the eighth of the season.

Former children’s television producer Dan Schneider is suing the producers of ID’s Quiet on the Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV docuseries, calling the show a “hit job” that implied he was a sexual abuser of children.
The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by TVLine, states: “While it is indisputable that two bona fide child sexual abusers worked on Nickelodeon shows, it is likewise indisputable that Schneider had no knowledge of their abuse, was not complicit in the abuse, condemned the abuse once it was discovered and, critically, was not a child sexual abuser himself.

Showrunners are the creative visionaries of a series.
They might not be the original creators, but they cover all aspects of the creative elements, evolve the show's vision, and decide where the story and character arcs will go.
They run the writing rooms, head the development, hire writers, and ensure actors are kept happy and that the budget is not exceeded.
Series are usually a collective effort, with writers giving their thoughts, but showrunners have the final say and are essential.
Where would the industry be without people like Shonda Rhimes, Matt and Ross Duffer (Stranger Things), and Ryan Murphy?
It would be mundane and repetitive.
Intelligent and prolific showrunners are the difference between a hit and a flop.
They set an unwavering tone for their ideas, and consistency is vital.
If the reason you fell in love with a series is altered or gone one day, then the connection created is absent,...

“And I would have gotten away with it too if it weren’t for you meddling kids.” This is undoubtedly one of the most famous lines in the history of animated television and practically everyone will recognize it as the most famous phrase from the Scooby-Doo series. The phrase usually signified the end of a case when Scooby and the gang would explain the solution and prove that the guy they caught in the costume red-handed did it. The villain would then utter these words, cursing his ill-fated encounter with Mystery Inc., without which his plan would have succeeded, as it was otherwise perfect.

Twenty years ago, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s breakout hit The O.C., about a group of teens coming of age in Newport Beach, premiered on Fox. By the time the 27-episode first season aired its finale in the spring of 2004, the show was the highest-rated drama on TV among adults 18 to 34 and had catapulted its stars — whose characters were affectionately known as the “Core Four” — to massive, near-overnight popularity.
It wouldn’t be the first or last young adult series in the U.S. to generate a cultural frenzy. But the industry ecosystem that birthed and defined zeitgeisty YA shows like it — 22-episode drama series with largely white casts found through in-person auditions — is vanishing. Seems like the question “Scooby-Doo, where are you?” soon will become very unnecessary — we know that it’ll be on Netflix.
The recent news concerning the fan-favorite cartoon franchise has just made it officially clear that Netflix is planning a big live-action reboot for Scooby-Doo’s story. The previous attempt to revive the story of detective teenagers with a troublemaking dog was made by HBO back in 2023 and eventually turned out to be a flop.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, for Scooby-Doo's new installment Netflix is teaming up with its frequent writer and producer Greg Berlanti famous for his work on the streaming’s hits like Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and You.
No significant details about the upcoming remake have been revealed yet, but the show is described as “live-action update of the classic cartoon” thus making it unclear whether it will have connections with other live-action installments of Hanna-Barbera’s beloved story.

Mystery Inc. rides again! Variety is reporting that the long-running "Scooby-Doo" franchise may be making a leap back to the live-action world, this time courtesy of Netflix. Sources tell the outlet that, unlike past versions of the Hanna-Barbera-created franchise, the new series won't be a comedic mystery but a one-hour drama series. Warner Bros. Television, which has been responsible for other dark teen-centric Netflix shows like "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" and "Dead Boy Detectives," is set to produce.

Sources say that the live-action Scooby-Doo project has a script-to-series commitment, which, assuming the script hits the right buttons, would mean it would receive a straight-to-series order. Josh Appelbaum & Scott Rosenberg (Cowboy Bebop) are set to write the series, as well as produce alongside André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner through their Midnight Radio banner. Greg Berlanti and Netflix are going for a ride in the Mystery Machine.
The streaming giant is near a deal for a live-action TV series based on the beloved Hanna-Barbera animated cartoon Scooby-Doo. The project has a script-to-series commitment at Netflix, meaning if the script is well received, it would trigger a straight-to-series order for what is considered a live-action update of the classic cartoon.
Reps for Netflix, producers Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions declined to comment, as a deal has not yet formally closed.
Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg — who previously adapted Cowboy Bebop for Netflix and High Fidelity for Hulu — are attached to pen the script and exec produce via their Midnight Radio banner’s André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner. Berlanti and his Berlanti Productions partner Sarah Schechter will exec produce alongside the company’s Leigh London Redman. Berlanti Productions’ Jonathan Gabay and Midnight Radio’s...

Once set up at the Max streaming service, the TV series Dead Boy Detectives, which is based on characters Neil Gaiman created for DC Comics in the pages of The Sandman issue #25, is now calling Netflix its home, having moved away from Max last year because it “doesn’t fit with DC executives James Gunn and Peter Safran’s plans for the Dcu.” The show premiered on April 25th (you can read our review Here) – and to mark the occasion, a new addition to the team here at JoBlo.com, Kyanna Mondezie, was given the opportunity to conduct interviews with several members of the cast: George Rexstrew, Jayden Revri, Kassius Nelson, and Yuyu Kitamura. You can hear what they had to say about their experience working on the show by checking out the video embedded above. Also interviewed were series creator Steve Yockey and showrunner Beth Schwartz.
