Famous in the early 20th Century as the composer of a number of light
Italian operettas, dances and popular Italian songs (and later the
former Somalian national anthem), Giovanni Blanc studied with Bolzoni
in Turin and became best known for his composition "Giovinezza"
("Youth", with lyrics by
Salvatore Gotta, which was adopted as the martial
anthem of fascist Italy.
