From the Commodore 64 to the modern day, check out 35 of videogaming's best ever soundtracks (and listen to them here...)
Games are often praised for their amazing visuals, deep, complex gameplay and well-written narrative, but music is also a big part of the media. Just as it forms an essential part of any movie's atmosphere, games need the right soundtrack in order to fully immerse the player into the game world. A rousing audio track can stir the emotions, properly relay the heroic nature of a protagonist, or instil fear when needed.
Games soundtracks are, arguably, much more important than other media, as the player is the star, in full control of the action. Whilst music in movies is hugely important, in a game the audio doesn't just accompany the visuals, but has to pair up perfectly with the player's actions and the events onscreen...

Kathy's second season begins tonight.
At least I've got "The Name Game" out of my head.
News
Get ready to see plenty of Anger Management because FX is going to burn through the 90-episodes it ordered. The network plans to air 45 episodes a year, which means it will air every week for the next two years, taking a few breaks for the holidays. Er, good news for Michael Arden fans?
And speaking of Anger Management... well, the phrase "Two and a Half Men reunion" doesn't usually grab my interest unless you add Jane Lynch into the mix. I'm not happy about it, but I notice.
The Killing hasn't been renewed for a third season yet but TVLine says that filming is scheduled to begin on February 25 and has descriptions for the new characters.
Switched at Birth is getting a mother-and-daughter reunion. Ringer alum Zoey Deutch — Lea Thompson's real life daughter,...

With the advent of CD into the gaming medium of choice, it offered developers the chance to really flex their musical muscles. Composers could bring full musical soundtracks to their games thanks to the extra storage the CD offered and it has given rise to some truly epic video game music.
But, what about before CDs? All developers had at their disposal was the limitations of the hardware. Chip tunes where the norm, superseded in later years with 8-bit stereo sound. With such limited tools, developers still managed to push the limits of game music. Thankfully, the 80′s and early 90′s music at the time was synthesized crap so it wasn’t too difficult to but some beeps together to form a decent tune.
So, here we are then, this is my top 10 video game tunes that may have been forgotten.
10. Manic Miner.
Ok, it sounds like your ears are...
