Olivia Munn is reportedly close to joining the cast of the Johnny Depp-fronted Mortdecai.
The Newsroom actress is in talks for an unspecified role in director David Koepp's adaptation of Kyril Bonfiglioli's novel, according to Deadline.
Mortdecai is based on the fourth instalment in Bonfiglioli's literary series The Great Mortdecai Moustache Mystery, which follows an art dealer on a mission to uncover a secret bank account filled with Nazi gold.
Ewan McGregor and Gwyneth Paltrow were previously announced as supporting cast members.
Munn, who has been a regular fixture on HBO's The Newsroom, recently appeared on the big screen in The Babymakers and Magic Mike.
The Great Mortdecai Moustache Mystery was completed by Craig Brown after Bonfiglioli's death and published in 1996.

Since her days at G4, Olivia Munn has made a decent name for herself as a film and TV star. From delivering satire on "The Daily Show" to talking fast on the Aaron Sorkin scripted "The Newsroom" and bit parts in Date Night and Iron Man 2, Munn is currently in talks to join Mortdecai, the crime comedy based on Kyril Bonfiglioli's The Great Mortdecai Moustache Mystery, the author's final novel which remained unfinished until satirist and parodist Craig Brown completed it. Though her role is unknown, this is poised to be one of her highest profile jobs with Johnny Depp in the lead role of the David Koepp directed film. Considering the only cast members on board are Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow and Ewan McGregor, we're betting Munn's roles is pretty sizable. Munn has taking roles larger than the aforementioned brief appearances on the big screen, but they have...

Gwyenth Paltrow and Ewan McGregor are in talks to join Johnny Depp in director David Koepp's upcoming film Mortdecai.

He also has to juggle angry Russians, the British Mi5, his impossibly leggy wife and an international terrorist."
There's no word on whom Paltrow and McGregor will play in the film, but it seems like there are a lot of fun colorful characters. I imagine McGregor would be a British Mi5 agent, and Paltrow would be the "impossibly leggy wife."
The book was written in the 1970s and it could make for a really cool '70s style thriller. Depp is...

New cast members announced for upcoming Depp film, a comic crime thriller based on books by Kyril Bonfiglioli
Gwyneth Paltrow and Ewan McGregor are set to join the Johnny Depp vehicle, Mortdecai, the comic crime thriller based on the series of books by Kyril Bonfiglioli.
No word has been forthcoming on Paltrow and McGregor's likely roles, but the film – apparently based on the final Mortdecai novel, The Great Mortdecai Moustache Mystery, which was completed by satirist Craig Brown – will be directed by David Koepp (Premium Rush). Described as "an amoral Bertie Wooster with psychopathic tendencies", Charlie Mortdecai is an unscrupulous art dealer on the track of Nazi treasure.
Depp's participation in Mortdecai was announced earlier this month in the aftermath of the disappointing box-office returns for his most recent blockbuster, The Lone Ranger. He is currently working on the big-screen adaptation of the Sondheim musical Into the Woods, while but...

Earlier this month, we learned Johnny Depp was in final talks to lead Mortdecai, an adaptation of Kyril Bonfiglioli's The Great Mortdecai Moustache Mystery, the author's final novel which remained unfinished until satirist and parodist Craig Brown completed it. The crime comedy is being directed by David Koepp, working form a script by relative newcomer Eric Aronson. Now the cast seems to be shaping up rather impressively as Variety reports Contagion star Gwyneth Paltrow and The Impossible star Ewan McGregor are currently in talks for two unknown roles in a story involving a stolen painting and Nazi gold. The official synopsis of the book says: "Hon. Charlie Mortdecai from adventure to misadventure via Jersey and Moscow to a final showdown in a Buckinghamshire bungalow of unparalleled hideousness. Tackling en route an unhealthy sprinkling of well-seasoned academics, a cryptic monk, an aristocratic Chief Constable, and more spies than you could...

After The Lone Ranger bombed disastrously for Disney, a Western red stain to go along with the sci-fi revenue anvil that was John Carter, Johnny Depp will apparently be trading in the mildly offensive tribal makeup for some non-pirate-related moustache twirling. He’s in line to star in Mortdecai, David Koepp’s adaptation of The Great Mortdecai Moustache Mystery, a comedic crime novel by the late European writer Kyril Bonfiglioli, finished posthumously by Craig Brown in 1996. Depp previously collaborated with Koepp on the lesser Stephen King adaptation Secret Window, while Koepp's most recent film was last summer's ...

Actor in talks for role of character who 'must traverse the globe armed only with his good looks' to recover Nazi treasure
Johnny Depp looks set to play another eccentric Englishman after signing on to star in a film based on Kyril Bonfiglioli's Charlie Mortdecai novels, which have been compared to the work of PG Wodehouse.
Depp is in talks to play Mortdecai himself, described as a roguish and debonair art dealer who must "must traverse the globe armed only with his good looks and special charm in a race to recover a stolen painting rumoured to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold". Studio Lionsgate has chosen Bonfiglioli's fourth book about the character, The Great Mortdecai Moustache Mystery, which was finished by the satirist Craig Brown in 1999 following its author's death in 1985. The three other Charlie Mortdecai books, Don't Point That Thing at Me,...

Outsider II by Brian Sewell, Ian Rankin's Standing in Another Man's Grave and Totall Recall by Arnold Schwarzenegger
"This is a remarkable memoir, but what is missing is any bridge between the controversialist and the connoisseur, the potty-mouth and the prig: it is almost as though the life of Henry James had been written by Roy 'Chubby' Brown." Craig Brown in the Mail on Sunday gave one star out of five to the second volume of Brian Sewell's memoir, Outsider II: "It is written with his usual verve, powered by exasperation … But his life remains a conundrum. On one level, it is all about the china-shop world of the connoisseur … delving into detail, developing a meticulous eye for suggestion and nuance. On another level, it is about gang-bangs and seething hatreds and releasing the bull into that china shop." According to Lynn Barber in the Sunday Times, the...

London, Sept 17: Queen of pop Madonna is said to have once taken late King of pop Michael Jackson's hand and placed it on her breasts as they were having dinner together at a Los Angeles restaurant.
Craig Brown revealed the incident, which took at the Ivy restaurant, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, in March 15, 1991, in his latest book, which is based on total facts, the Daily Mail reported.
Brown wrote that as the dinner progressed, Madonna, who was wearing a black jacket and hot pants with lacy stockings, thought she spotted Jackson taking a sneak peek at her breasts.
Grinning, she snatched his hand and placed it.

As an actor, curating a feast of factual film-making showed me the beauty of the subjective truth, says Diana Quick
Aldeburgh cinema in Suffolk is not all it seems. From the outside, it looks like a half-timbered shop at the end of the high street. Within, it's an independent picture house that's been screening films for nearly a century. It's a proper community staple: to save it from shutting in the 1960s, a group of locals, including Benjamin Britten, clubbed together to buy it and then run it themselves. Year after year I've gone there to see mainstream releases, international arthouse films and special treats – I still remember introducing a bunch of teenagers to White Christmas at the cinema, one wintry day. I think it's ambitiously programmed every day of the year, but especially so for the three days its annual documentary festival comes around.
