Exclusive: Filipino actress and singer Lovi Poe (Seasons) is joining Adam Beach (Windtalkers) in the untitled Paul Fullerton project produced and directed by Garry A. Brown (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
The movie, which is due to shoot in Dallas, Texas later this year, is based on the true story of Paul Fullerton (Beach), a decorated Native American fire captain whose life is turned upside down when a career-ending accident draws him into marijuana and a collision course with the local district attorney and his small group of rogue police.
In 2016, Fullerton and his wife Marie’s (Poe) home was raided by a multi-agency task force and the couple was unjustly accused of selling and distributing marijuana. Aspects of the case are still going through the court process today.
Brown, who is best known for producing and directing on multiple seasons of shows Prison Break and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., will serve as the producer.

The couple was targeted and unjustly accused of selling and distributing marijuana, the effects of which are still being felt in an ongoing court process today.

With God Country, Redneck, and now Babyteeth Donny Cates is making a run to be the biggest breakout writer of 2017. Not only have his books sold remarkably well they are also quite good. As a comic fan it is exciting when fresh faces come along in this world so it is hard not to unabashedly root for his success.
After reading Babyteeth #1 I feel my hope is secure. Sure based on the premise of the first issue this story is one we have seen before. Some sort of demonic baby is born into the world and everything then falls apart, but with a first issue you do not need to shock the world to sell your book. That tends to lead to an opening issue that overreaches and does way too much. Here Donny Cates does two major things.

Marvel's Agents of Shield S3 E18, 'The Singularity', written by Lauren LeFranc and directed by Garry A. Brown, is a very thematically coherent episode. This in itself is a representation of disparate elements coming together to form one (connected) thing or system, which is the theme of the episode.
Several other previous Marvel's Agents of Shield episodes (e.g. S3 E2), as well as Iron Man 3, also have this kind of thematic coherency. The Marvel Cinematic Universe also arguably functions the same way: each story works on its own terms, but they also inter-relate, and taken together, the world-building is extraordinary, making the McU more than the sum of its parts.
This episode's theme is in some ways similar to a key thematic conceit of Buffy the Vampire Slayer: the tension between aloneness and togetherness. Hive controls Inhumans, forming a hive mind, and making them happy (kind...

Agents of Shield, Season 2, Episode 17: “Melinda”
Written by DJ Doyle
Directed by Garry A. Brown
Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on ABC
Despite teasing the return of Ward in “Afterlife”, Agents of Shield delays the return of Shield’s favorite double-agent with a flashback episode. “Melinda” takes a trip back in time to seven years ago, and recounts the origin of May’s nickname “the Cavalry.” Predictably, this is not a happy story, and it involves a young woman whose superpowers are a danger to the people around her, drawing obvious parallels to Skye. It also sheds some light on why May is so protective of Skye now that she is super-powered, and why failing to keep Skye safe could devastate her.
In the main storyline, Ming-Na Wen proves up to the task of leading the episode. May is a fan favorite character as the team bad-ass, but here...

Is Brian Wood’s The Massive really approaching the 30th issue milestone… already? It didn’t seem long ago when Kristian Donaldson’s beautiful art was teasing the history of characters like Mag and Mary. The Massive looked to be the spiritual successor to Dmz back in early 2012. Timely, political, character driven, personal, and smart. This issue may just end up being the series’ climax of sorts, serving up the biggest revelation of the series and one that has been teased since the title’s announcement. As the moment plays out, I realize this is not the spiritual successor to Dmz… (Stuart Smalley voice) and that’s okay.
[*** Spoilers for The Massive #27 and the series as a whole to follow.***]

DC Comics have announced that Genevieve Valentine will take over Catwoman this October, and she will be taking the character in a very different direction as the events of Batman Eternal begin to effect the rest of the DC Universe. "Selina Kyle has discovered she's part of a legacy she never knew before, and heir to the family business," Valentine told io9 of the upcoming storyline. "She decides to accept the position, both because she sees a chance to restore a ruined Gotham and because, deep down, Selina's always played power games against herself. In this arc, she'll be coming face to face with what she's willing to do to keep her power, on a scale that could shake the whole city." Iron Patriot artist Garry Brown joins Valentine on the series which marks one of many creative team and story changes this October. What do you guys think?...

(Cbr) Spoiler Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the freshly aired "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." first season finale, "Beginning of the End," and the show up to this point as a whole. "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." has reached the finish line for its first season -- and, following last week's renewal news, it's more like a victory lap. Not that Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg's) team look entirely like winners at the outcome of the season finale, "Beginning of the End." Sure, the forces of evil led by a supercharged (and superbly unhinged) John Garrett (Bill Paxton) have been defeated, thanks in part to the intercession of a newly thinking-for-himself Deathlok (J. August Richards) and help from off-the-grid, presumed dead, former S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), plus the traitorous Ward (Brett Dalton) is now in custody, thanks...

2013 saw a rise in the comics readership, up from the previous year which was itself a rise from the previous year, and comics publishers are looking to grab even more new comics readers in 2014. What’s the best way to do this? #1 issues!
So far in the year we’ve already seen a ton of new #1s being released, mainly from the biggest hitter, Marvel, with other companies like Image and Valiant following suit. Marvel’s All-New Marvel Now! has seen comics like Loki: Agent of Asgard, Ms Marvel, Avengers World, She-Hulk, and more hit the stands with enormous success and the promise of more and more to come in the months ahead.
Smaller publishers like Valiant have also announced a raft of new #1 titles beginning in May, noticing the draw #1 issues have on new audiences eager to find a new series to follow. Image too look to continue their...

Infinity (Jonathan Hickman, Jerome Opeña) reached its penultimate issue this fortnight, which sets the stage its the climax. It’s already been announced that Marvel are launching a new book about the Inhumans next month, so we have an idea of what players will emerge in what kind of world after the events of this cosmic saga. If you’ve been following these posts, you’ll know that I’ve had both positive and confused opinions regarding the mini-series. The Avengers, most of whom are gallivanting in space, fighting back against the Builders’ hostile takeover of the universe, have left earth relatively unprotected. Meanwhile, purple space-bastard Thanos has destroyed the Inhumans’ city Attilan and defeated their king Black Bolt and is now set on finding and killing his son, who is in hiding. We get a kind of unsatisfying answer as to why exactly Thanos wants to do this.

Continuing the Marvel news from New York Comic-Con 2013, Marvel have announced another new series for their All-New Marvel Now! line-up in 2014, this time featuring the all-star creative team of Superior Spider-Man writer Dan Slott and Ff artist Mike Allred: Silver Surfer. Slott talked about the changes he’s brought to the character, notably the addition of a female companion for the cosmic herald:
“When you think of the Silver Surfer, you think of the lone sentinel of the skyways. He’s always very lonely on that board all by himself. And this is a book about a girl onboard … a kindred spirit who’s an Earth girl. And you’re going to find out the universe is more fun when you see it with someone.”
