Blake Shelton has been the breakout comedic star of The Voice since its premiere in April 2011, and yet it’s taken ’til January 2015 for him to land a hosting gig on Saturday Night Live? (Whoever’s in charge of cross-promotional synergy at NBC has clearly been in a professional freefall since the demise of Law & Order: La.)
Better late than never, though, I suppose. The country music star proved an absolutely terrific choice of emcee — scoring laughs in a wide range of scenarios and not relying on cue cards nearly as much as you’d expect for a neophyte. I...

Espn is planning heavy coverage of the 2014 World Cup. In addition to live coverage of every game from Brazil, the sports network is launching a series of documentaries under its "30 for 30" banner in the lead-up to the tournament.
"30 for 30 Soccer Stories" will premiere April 22 with "Hillsborough," a feature-length film about the 1989 disaster in Sheffield, England, that killed 96 fans in an overcrowded stadium. Directed by Daniel Gordon ("9.79"), the movie chronicles the tragedy and also what emerged from it, including the birth of the Premier League several years later.
The series includes one other feature-length film, "White, Blue and White," about Argentinian stars Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa going to England to join Tottenham Hotspur in 1978 -- and Ardiles' decision to leave the club when the Falklands war broke out. It's set to air July 1. Six 30-minute films will also be part of the series, airing back-to-back in the weeks following the debut of "Hillsborough.

The likable vampire seems like somewhat of a paradox. Since the earliest incarnation of count Dracula, the vampire has typically been somewhat of a reviled species. However, over time, it has been scientifically proven (no it hasn’t) that audiences find vampires irresistibly sexy and dangerous but charming.
Contemporary vampire fiction has forever changed the landscape of vampire cinema and television. We now see vampires cast as the protagonists and antiheroes in movies and TV, as opposed to being almost exclusively cast in the role of the villain. Anne Rice was a pioneer of vampire fiction in her heyday and still continues to be. She was undoubtedly a huge inspiration for L.J. Smith (The Vampire Diaries Books) and Charlaine Harris (The Sookie Stackhouse Novels). Both authors have further changed the light in which vampires are portrayed, both in fiction and on the big and small screens. We didn’t forget to mention Stephanie Meyer.

We open with Benny working the bar at the local Gumbo Shack in Carencro, Louisiana.
Should I waste time commenting on how good Ty Olssen looks in that tight white shirt and the green apron which brings out his eyes? And that smile… Yeah, okay, snapping out.
A pretty brunette, Elizabeth, who’s probably the owner, or the head-waitress, fondly orders him about to close up for the night. He drawls, “Darlin’, it ain’t my first rodeo.”
Oh, Chuck! Take that accent and stow it away for a rainy day.
A lone trucker sitting at the bar comments about the easy camaraderie between them and wonders if they have something going on. “Nuh..uh, she’s more like a li’l sister to me, y’know,” Benny replies. The trucker, who’s about as old as her grandfather, wonders if he can take a shot at her.
“She’s all yours,...

The title suggests another reference to angels, since they are only angels and not saints, who serve a higher purpose. The angels are out jet skiing and Eve (Minka Kelly) is hailed to save a man who was washed up on the beach. She manages to revive him but he has no recollection of anything. Bosley (Ramon Rodriguez) thinks the man likes Eve, whom they've taken to calling Hugo since he was dressed in a Hugo Boss suit, as they tell Charlie (Victor Garber). Abby (Rachael Taylor) adds she did go mouth to mouth with him, i.e giving him the kiss of life. Funny Abby should get this line seeing as this episode was hyped to contain a kissing scene between Abby and Eve. However, Rachael and Minka did kiss during filming of this episode, most likely as a publicity stunt. There was however, no such scene actually in the episode,...

After having an incredibly short crack at on the book, Peter J. Tomasi has left readers desperate for the next step in his Batman & Robin plans. The MTV movie recently awards showed a heavily-hyped preview of Breaking Dawn, HBO is releasing PSA videos for True Blood Withdrawal, and Colin Farrell is looking aptly hot in those Fright Night ads. And that's just the stuff that's currently going on. The rest of the year there's The Vampire Diaries, two versions of Being Human and more.
Of course, this all led to the big topic of conversation around the AfterElton employee break room this week, "Which vampire would you turn for?" No, not turn straight or gay. Turn into the undead...
The responses approached the question in different ways. Some based their pick on personality, some on style, while others chose their maser vampire based on ... esoteric reasons.
But we don't want to just hear from the Ae writers, who have spent way too much time looking for new ways to cover that preview of the upcoming True Blood season.

Go Fast is one of the few films that actually lives up to its title in every conceivable way. It’s about undercover narcotics cops in France, who literally get involved in something called a ‘Go-fast’. Since the people making the subtitles couldn’t pause the film to explain what precisely this ‘go-fast’ meant, and since the French characters are literally using the two English words ‘go’ and ‘fast’, I can only rely on my own interpretation of events. Though it’s not a particularly complex idea, as you might have guessed. Basically the crims are running drugs from Morocco through Spain and on into France, and they have found that the best method for avoiding apprehension is driving incredibly fast in speedboats and supercars. The titular ‘Go-fast’. Seems like that would draw more attention to the whole process.* But apparently not in Continental Europe. Our dashing lead is a...

Smack!!!!
“Aagghh!!!”
The former was what The Vampire Diaries did to me last night and the latter is my bitch made response. The domestic abuse that The Vampire Diaries administered to me last night was epic and my mind is still reeling from each blow that came at my face. There were no tears. Only gasps of shock after each uppercut landed.
Let me recount the events from the night before while I can recollect them at the moment.
Last night’s story took place during two time periods and picked up from where it left off the week before.
Crash Into Me… (Mystic Falls, Virginia 1864)
The scenery made me think about Dave Matthews Band’s “Crash Into Me” video, which is one of my favorite videos of all time. Anyway…
We are introduced to a pre-vamped Stefan and Damon Salvatore who were best friends and only fought with each other out of sport.

After checking out their recent release, Voodoo Trucker (read the review here), Fangoria Musick's resident dark-rock aficionado, Doctor Raven, sought out the self-professed "Scariest Band in the World" to get inside their heads and find out what makes these Psychobilly animals tick.
Below you'll find the Doctor's exclusive interview with Deadbolt.
With the acclaim currently being gained by many acts in the Northwest, my little batch of patchouli-stinking heaven is starting to become the first (maybe second) stop for many Goth, Industrial, and Psychobilly acts starting the West Coast leg of their tours. And for these bands, there's no better place to do that than in Diablo’s Downtown Lounge, a creepy little dive affectionately referred to by locals as “The Satan Room.” Diablo’s works diligently to attract the best acts as they make their way through Oregon.
