Top streamers such as Apple and Netflix are reportedly bidding on a biopic about legendary Hollywood talent agent Sue Mengers, with Jennifer Lawrence tapped to the star in the lead role and Paolo Sorrentino on board to direct. Deadline confirmed the hot package is being shopped around, adding: “We hear that Apple is in the mix for the Sue Mengers project, and has read the script with Netflix also buzzed to be another contender for the project.”
Matthew Belloni, former editorial director of The Hollywood Reporter, also confirmed Apple and Netflix are two of the big contenders for Lawrence and Sorrentino’s Sue Mengers movie. Jennifer Lawrence is no stranger when it comes to portraying nuanced female characters, and now she's gearing up for the role of another complicated woman: Arlyne Brickman, the mob girl turned FBI informant. Her new part is based on the colorful true story of Brickman's life captured in Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Teresa Carpenter's 1992 biography Mob Girl. While the film's release date is under wraps, we know that Lawrence will star as Brickman and produce alongside director Paolo Sorrentino. And we know that it'll be one hell of a story to tell - Brickman has lived a rather lurid and eventful life full of grit and shady dealings.
Arlyne Brickman's Early Life
Brickman spent 40 years hanging around mobsters. Her story started in 1934 when she was born in the Lower East Side of New York to a Jewish racketeer and one-time chorus girl. In her teenage years, she idolized Virginia Hill,...

Jennifer Lawrence is on board to star in and produce the true-crime story of Mob Girl, that is being adapted from the book by the same name by author Teresa Carpenter. The film will tell the true story of Arlyne Brickman, mob wife turned police informant. Variety reports the following synopsis for the film:
The film follows Brickman who grows up among racketeers on the Lower East Side of New York City where she’s drawn to the glamorous and flashy lifestyle of New York mobsters. Soon after, she begins dating “wiseguys” and running errands for them, before getting in on the action herself — eventually becoming a police informant and a major witness in the government’s case against the Colombo crime family.
This sounds like a fascinating story, and although some people are tired of J-Law, I think she is a fantastic actress, and is perfectly suited to pull this role off.

Makeready has set a feature adaptation of Pulitzer Prize reporter Teresa Carpenter’s non fiction crime story Mob Girl, with Jennifer Lawrence to star as the mob wife turned police informant Arlyne Brickman, and Paolo Sorrentino to direct the film. Angelina Burnett has written the script.
This is the first project since Lawrence’s Excellent Cadaver set a first look at Brad Weston’s Makeready. Lawrence will produce with Justine Polsky, Sorrentino and Wildside’s Lorenzo Mieli. Makeready partner and Head of Film Pam Abdy and Natalie Williams will oversee for the studio.
Sorrentino created the Jude Law-Diane Keaton-starrer The Young Pope and has directed 10 episodes of its followup The New Pope for HBO and Canal+, with John Malkovich joining the cast. He wrote and directed the films Youth and The Great Beauty.
Brickman sounds almost like a female version of Henry Hill from Goodfellas.

You may only know Marcia Clark as the lead prosecutor for the 1994 O. J. Simpson murder trial (a role played by Sarah Paulson in The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story), but in the past 25 years, Clark has proven herself to be much more than just a talented lawyer. Since resigning from the District Attorney's office after the Simpson trial and leaving trial practice behind, Clark has written two crime fiction series - the Rachel Knight and the Samantha Brinkman novels - as well as the nonfiction book Without a Doubt with Teresa Carpenter about the Simpson case. She has also made several TV appearances, including her role as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight and host for Marcia Clark Investigates the First 48 on A&E.
Now Clark is combining all of her talents for ABC's new legal drama, The Fix, which she cocreated and cowrites alongside writer-producers Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain.

Lone Scherfig, the Danish director of Oscar-nominated An Education, is going to direct Mob Girl, based on the book of the same name by Teresa Carpenter.
We had a chance to hear the rumor – the possible cast solution for this upcoming movie is young actress Jessica Biel!
Probably the best way to start this report is official synopsis of the book: “From an early age, Arlyn Brickman associated with petty and some not so petty racketeering figures, starting with her grandmother and father.
Intoxicated by the glamour and flash, she made herself “indispensable” to wiseguys by running errands, carrying packages, or offering her home as a meeting place or safe haven-not to mention the dozens of mob figures with whom she slept. Before long, she vaulted from an adjunct role into the thick of bookmaking, loansharking, and drug dealing.

Lone Scherfig ("An Education") is considering directing the organised crime whistleblower tale "Mob Girl" reports Empire Online.
Based on a true story, Jessica Biel is attached to star as mob mistress Arlyn Brickman who grew up around and was seduced by the glamour and flashy world of racketeering. Over three decades she went from a sideline figure to a key element in the various nefarious underworld activities.
However that came at a high personal price including numerous beatings, humiliations, numerous abortions and a brutal rape. Eventually she became an informant and later turned state's evidence which helped put away crime boss Anthony Scarpati.
Writers are currently being sought to adapt Teresa Carpenter's biographical book on which the film will be based. A 2011 is already planned.

Exclusive: Lone Sherfig Attached to Jessica Biel's "Mob Girl" | Mafia Mistress Turns Mafia Informant
What a distressing morning. I discovered that John Cusack is on Twitter. The distressing part: He can't spell; he doesn't care that he can't spell; and if 140 characters or less is any indication, he's not as bright as his persona would suggest. More troubling: He actually responds to bullshit call-outs from Perez Hilton. Hey celebrities: Stay off Twitter. Nothing good can come of it. You embarrass yourselves. We want to think of you as characters in movies, not illiterate high-school drop-outs who excessively use All Caps. All it does is demystify you, and when you start responding to people who insult you on Twitter, you sound petty. Really fucking petty. (Rule does not apply to Elizabeth Banks, who is great on Twitter).
