- Frances Carroll was a gorgeous, petite, sexy, vivacious bandleader, she led a lively, swinging, hot, talented female orchestra who could play standards, popular tunes, slow tunes, love tun or hot tunes with perfection proving women could swing as good as the male bands. She was a great leader, who sung and danced wonderfully in fitting dresses but had elegance and class. She truly was a red-head bombshell which went along with her red-hot orchestra.
