Former soprano with the Metropolitan Opera Company (1909 - 1920) who
became a successful concert soloist. She appeared in two early sound
shorts for Warner Brothers, both with an eight-year-old Rita Hayworth
(then Rita Cansino) playing in support. She became a social lioness and
patron of the arts after marrying the much older Clarence H. Mackay,
millionaire head of Postal Telegraph and member of the Metropolitan
Opera Board, in 1931.
