Millennium Entertainment brings Dead Within to DVD and VOD on September 9th. Today, we're presenting a three-minute from the film which you can now watch here.
Set six months after a deadly outbreak that has all but ended the human race, a man (True Blood’s Dean Chekvala) and woman (Amy Cale Peterson, Southbounders) have survived by isolating themselves in a remote cabin and never opening the door.
Now, they don't have a choice. Starved for resources, they must confront the horrors that threaten them…but what's inside may be even more toxic than what remains outside.

Dead Within is a smallish indie horror feature from first time director Ben Wagner. The film takes place after a viral outbreak, which leaves the world in ruins. Set primarily in one set, Dead Within will release later this year, through Millenium Entertainment. A trailer for the film has just been released. For more on the story, a couple reside within an isolated cabin. Afraid to go outside and afraid to starve to death, this pair must struggle each day, to stay alive. Horrors lurk just outside their door and an airborne virus threatens to end their lives, or change them into something truly monstrous. The trailer for Dead Within is hosted below. The clip takes awhile to gain momentum. But when it does, film fans can see that many of the film's threats are hosted offscreen or within (psychological). Fans of indie horror features are encouraged to take a look below.

We told you yesterday that Ben Wagner's latest horror film, Dead Within, was scooped up for distro via Millennium Entertainment, and right now we have some exclusive stills and more for you!
“I was repairing a window in my house. I was going to have to break it out of the frame and figured, why not film someone busting through it? I was going to just make a short film about a home invasion, but it quickly grew into something bigger,” director Ben Wagner tells us.
"The majority of Dead Within was shot over a 72-hour period. The actors developed the backstory and the first scenes that establish this new world. After shooting these initial scenes, the actors were isolated in the cabin where they improvised the second act. They did not know how the story would develop beyond the establishing scenes. Beats were pre-planned and partially scripted, and...

If you were holed up in a cabin with your loved one during the apocalypse, what horrors would you find outside your long unopened door? That’s the question at the heart of writer/director Ben Wagner’s latest film, Dead Within, which Millennium Entertainment recently picked up.
A release date has not yet been set for this psychological horror film, but we’ll let Daily Dead readers know when one is determined. To get real results out of his actors, Ben Wagner filmed the movie in the tradition of The Blair Witch Project, placing stars Amy Cale Peterson and Dean Chekvala (both of whom helped write the script) in a real locked cabin wherein they had no idea what horror the filmmakers would throw at them. In addition to the film, a prequel comic illustrated by artist Alfonso Ruiz will soon be available, perhaps expanding on the apocalyptic events...

Millennium Entertainment has acquired the U.S. distribution rights for "Dead Within," a psychological horror film directed by Ben Wagner. The post apocalyptic film follows the journey of two people, played by Amy Cale Peterson and Dean Chekvala, who have survived a deadly plague by remaining cooped up in a cabin. Now, desperate for resources, they must venture outside their cabin. To their surprise, though, the horrors inside may be greater than those outside. Millennium Entertainment most recently handed the distribution for John Turturro's "Fading Gigolo." "Dead Within" is slated for a September 2014 release. ...

Cal (Tim Roth) is at a Lovematch Connections singles mixer and this was a funny opening to the show so far, as we don't know why he's there. As he's also single he may be on the look out to meet other women, but we also know that's not really his forte. Also his heart really lies with Gillian (Kelli Williams). He pretends to be a furrier to ward off the woman who feigns to show an interest in him, more like his Brit accent (which she mistakes for Irish!) He meets another woman and asks if she was in a hotel room what would she order, chocolate cake, strawberries or warm honey. (The answer being obvious.) She's flustered and walks away. Gillian calls telling him about the wife killer, Eric Matheson (Garret Dillahunt)who is on the run and the FBI are searching for him. Cal then meets another...

Here's your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you'll have the chance to vote for your favorite. In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments. Tweetable Logline: 2 ex-best friends reunite to find $500,000 of mob money buried on a golf course in Wisconsin. A comedy about do-overs. Elevator Pitch: Mulligan tells the story of John Hanson (Jonathan Eliot), a frustrated cartoonist who reluctantly teams up with his ex-best friend Karl (Dean Chekvala) to find $500,000 buried on an abandoned golf course in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. Along the way they cross paths with a dangerous local cop (Vincent Teninty), two beautiful femme fatale camp counselors (Amy Sloan and Kaitlin Doubleday) and some mobsters (Christian Stolte and Paul Dichter), all of whom are after the cash. A buddy comedy/road trip movie along the lines of Bottle Rocket.

For all the "True Blood" fans out there, the wait from the end of one season to the start of a new one can be quite grueling. So much so that HBO employed the Twitter hashtag #waitingsucks in its "True Blood" marketing campaigns — and fans couldn't agree more.
Luckily, the waiting game is about to end with the premiere of the fourth season on HBO this Sunday. MTV News spent some quality time with the cast at the show's premiere earlier this week, where we asked the newest faces of "True Blood" to introduce themselves to fans. Very minor spoilers ahead.
"I play Naomi, I am a good friend of Tara," newcomer Vedette Lim told us.

Viewing the CBS slasher series Harper’S Island one episode after another on the recently released four-dvd set, as opposed to waiting week by week to catch the next installment, has an unusual effect. It makes the 13-episode show’s earlier, weaker parts more tolerable, while somewhat diminishing the effectiveness of its later, stronger episodes.
Mixing elements of nighttime soap opera into its murder mystery, Harper’S Island gathers together a large crew of friends and family members to attend the wedding of Henry Dunn (Christopher Gorham) and Trish Wellington (Katie Cassidy) at the titular locale. Henry is working-class and Trish comes from money, so the ensemble necessarily includes Trish’s equally well-to-do bridesmaids and Henry’s party-hearty buddies, though the central character is Abby Mills (Elaine Cassidy), Henry’s best friend from their childhood growing up on Harper’s Island. Abby has long been absent from the place, ever...

Chicago – I’m still a little miffed that the “Harper’s Island” experiment didn’t work out for CBS. The show was far from perfect, but I still like the idea of a limited series with a predetermined beginning, middle, and end. Sadly, no one tuned in to watch “Harper’s Island” on CBS but the guilty pleasure could have a second life on DVD.
DVD Rating: 3.5/5.0 Was “Harper’s Island” any good? It depends on what you mean by “good”. If you’re looking for witty dialogue, detailed character, and clever plotting, look elsewhere. But not every show needs to be intellectually satisfying. For the same reason we go see silly horror movies, sometimes you just want to enjoy a guilty pleasure and “Harper’s Island” was the guiltiest of 2009.

CBS' murder mystery Harper's Island came to a close on Saturday night after a crazy and horrific season. Will it be back for another round?
Harper's Island tells the story of a group of family and friends who gather on an island for a wedding. One by one, the guests are murdered by a mysterious killer. The cast includes Elaine Cassidy, Christopher Gorham, Katie Cassidy, Cameron Richardson, Adam Campbell, Richard Burgi, Jim Beaver, C.J. Thomason, Victor Webster, Jay Brazeau, Dean Chekvala, Matt Barr, and Harry Hamlin.
The show debuted on Thursday, April 9th and won the timeslot in total viewership (10.49 million) but was second in the 18-49 demographic with a 2.7/8 rating/share. Unfortunately, that represented a huge loss from its CSI lead-in. Many viewers also tuned out before the first episode of Harper's Island was over.

J.D. Dunn, played by Dean Chekvala, is the latest wedding guest to fall victim to Harper's Island. We spoke to Dean about his role, keeping secrets, and how much of his entrails ended up on the cutting room floor. CBS has announced that they're pulling Harper's Island series from its high-profile, post-csi timeslot and sending it to a primetime deathslot. However, the network contends that the move doesn't diminish their faith in the series.
Harper's Island revolves around a group of family and friends who come together for a wedding on a secluded island. Before the nuptials can commence the wedding guests are slain, one by one, by a mysterious killer. The show's ensemble cast includes Elaine Cassidy, Christopher Gorham, Katie Cassidy, Cameron Richardson, Adam Campbell, Richard Burgi, Jim Beaver, C.J. Thomason, Victor Webster, Jay Brazeau, Dean Chekvala, Matt Barr, and Harry Hamlin.
The premiere of Harper's aired on April 9th, opposite NBC's new Southland series. The show won the timeslot in total viewership (10.49 million) but was second in the 18-49 demographic with a 2.7/8 rating/share. However, when you look a little closer, those numbers aren't as positive as one might think.
