She won the prestigious Molière award (the French equivalent of the Tony) three times: in 1990 (Best Supporting Actress in "Greek"), in 2000 (Best Actress in "Shirley") and in 2006 (Best Actress in "Histoires d'hommes").
She started performing on stage in 1945 at the age of 18 and made her film debut in 1948.
Daughter of René Dupuis (an engineer) and Clothilde Vitry.
After taking acting classes at the Cours Simon and studying classical dance with Lucette Destouches, she made her film debut at the age of 21 where she landed small roles under the pseudonym Simone Chambord. She took on her stage name of Judith Magre in 1953.
Has worked for many noted directors, including René Clair, Julien Duvivier, Claude Lelouch and Louis Malle.
