One year after the heartbreak, Orlando residents are coming together for a solemn day of remembrance.
On June 12, 2016, a gunman entered the popular gay-friendly club Pulse armed with an Ar-15 assault rifle. Omar Mateen, an Isis sympathizer, murdered 49 innocent people and injured dozens more in the deadliest mass shooting in United States history.
A memorial service for survivors, victims’ families and local officials was held at Pulse early Monday, according to News 6. Just after 1 a.m., people dressed as angels — who last year protected mourning family and friends from anti-gay hecklers from the Westboro Baptist Church — held candles as they...

We are tasked here at ComicMix to opine on all that is going around the world of pop culture. Maybe a bit more of a bend towards the comics side of things (it is in the name, right?). But as it stands this week… I don’t care about pop culture. I’ve been catching up on Legends of Tomorrow, but it seems trivial at best. I picked up comics from the shop, a feat I haven’t done on a regular basis in over two years.
I was going to wax poetic on all things Rebirth, but really, why would I? Heck. I could even stretch so far as to discuss my pending excitement of the announcement of Injustice 2, coming out next year on the Playstation and Xbox. I could, but I’m not going to.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" isn't as popular at Guantanamo as some think. A lawyer for an inmate at the Guantanamo Bay prison says that his client was given the book by guards as a joke. The detainee, however, wasn't interested.
James Connell, a lawyer for Ammar al-Baluchi (also known as Abd al-Aziz Ali), had received the copy of the E L James novel from his client during a hearing at the military facility (as reported by the BBC). Al-Baluchi reportedly handed over the soft-core, sadomasochistic book, saying "You'll never guess what I have."
Supposedly a gift from guards at Camp 7 in Guantanamo, Connell alleges that this was a practical joke by the guards. That joke would be in response to a claim from an American politician, Congressman Jim Moran of Virginia, who reported that "Fifty Shades of Grey" was particularly popular among the terrorism-accused inmates of the facility.
