On July 5, Mpi/Dark Sky Films will release the supernatural horror-thriller movie Wake Wood, a chiller from England’s venerable horror studio Hammer Films, on Blu-ray and DVD for the list prices of $34.98 and $27.98, respectively.
Pagan rituals are practiced in Wake Wood.
Directed by David Keating, the film tells the tale of Patrick and Louise Daley (12 Rounds‘ Aiden Gillen and The Children‘s Eva Birthistle), whose young daughter Alice (Ella Connolly) is killed in a ghastly attack by a crazed dog. Moving to the remote rural Irish community of Wake Wood to escape their grief, the devastated parents are “embraced” by the strange residents of the town, who introduce the couple to a bizarre pagan ritual that will bring Alice back from the grave – for three days only. Both intrigued and disturbed by the possibilities, the Daleys pursue the action, not having pondered what they will do if the ritual...

Hammer, Hammer, Hammer! That's all we hear about these days. Today, already, we've been banging on about two of their other current projects 'The Resident', starring Hilary Swank and Christopher Lee, 'The Woman in Black' with Daniel Radcliffe, and now we're reporting on a long-forgotten project of theirs, 'Wake Wood'. It's been over 2 years now since we reported anything on the project which was set up around the time of Hammer's revival. It was set to shoot over in Ireland with Aiden Gillen, Timothy Spall and Eva Birthistle and now finally things appear to be moving forward on getting this bad-boy Brit horror into theatres with the release of a new UK quad poster. David Keating directs from a script he co-wrote with Brendan McCarthy. Ella Connolly, Amelia Crowley, Brian Gleeson, Dan Gordon and Ruth McCabe co-star and you can check out the new quad and trailer below!
