The recent success of Zendaya’s Challengers has proven people’s interest in the theme of love triangles doesn’t need to be rekindled.
The movies, which explore the romances involving three different personalities, tend to attract the audience with their intricate love lines and unexpected twists, with the final one intended to break the triangle.
Here are 5 of the most remarkable love triangle films, which are available for streaming online.
Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008)
Where to watch: Prime, Apple TV+
First comes Woody Allen’s feature, which is very reminiscent of Challengers due to its similar vibe of the youth’s passion and heated romance. The plot centers on Scarlett Johansson’s Cristina, meeting in Barcelona the handsome artist Juan Antonio, who shares her attraction to him, though being still enamored of his ex-wife María Elena.

Some good news dropped today in the form of a new installment in the beloved Bridget Jones series.
The fourth installment in the series was announced, with Renée Zellweger reprising her iconic role and a few new characters entering the fray just as Bridget enters a new chapter in her life.
With the working title 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,' Bridget, now in her 50s, will be navigating life and love, just as she always has, seemingly with the same charm we've grown accustomed to.
It's thrilling news for fans of both the book series and the movies, who've watched Bridget on the big screen since 2001, when she was in her early twenties, writing away in her diary, scared she'd end up a spinster if she didn't play her cards right.

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is based off Helen Fielding’s 2013 novel of the same name, the third novel in her Bridget Jones book series. Mad About the Boy, the fourth instalment in the adventures of Helen Fielding’s scatty heroine, has been confirmed for release on Valentine’s Day 2025
Following months of speculation, the studio behind Bridget Jones has confirmed their heroine will return for a fourth big screen outing, adapted from Helen Fielding’s 2013 novel Mad About the Boy.
Hugh Grant is set to reprise his role as the appallingly dashing Daniel Cleaver, having sat out the previous instalment, 2016’s Bridget Jones’s Baby. That movie charted Bridget’s unexpected pregnancy, which coincided with a love triangle as veteran on-off boyfriend Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) and a new suitor played by Patrick Dempsey vied for her affections.

Set dressers organized the scene by setting props in a field for a TV drama about the aftermath of the bombing in Lockerbie starring Colin Firth in Bathgate, Scotland, last week.
The miniseries Lockerbie examines the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. The bombing took 270 lives: 259 of them were on the flight and 11 lives were lost as the wreckage damaged their homes.
Props were set up to look like the aftermath of the bombing. The crew is carrying the parts of the plane parts including seats and parts of a wing.
In 2016, Firth sat down with uInterview to talk about relating to his character, Bill Haydon, in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
When asked about his connection to the character, Firth exclusively told uInterview that, “[Haydon] handles things with great authority and great aplomb, and I’m not saying I am capable of doing that, but I do find those things attractive.

Denis Villeneuve isn't exactly what one might call an action director. His early thrillers like "Prisoners" and "Sicario" are slow-burn affairs punctuated by graphic bursts of violence while his sci-fi hit "Arrival" devotes most of its runtime to characters talking about linguistics. Even in "Blade Runner 2049" and "Dune," the action scenes are swift and brutal yet relatively few and far between. That changes somewhat with "Dune: Part Two," a film in which young Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and the Fremen unleash the full might of their desert power as they go to war with the ruthless House Harkonnen and its ally, the power-hungry Shaddam IV (Christopher Walken), the Padishah Emperor of the Known Universe, in a battle for the planet of Arrakis.
"Dune: Part Two" also sees Paul putting all that one-on-one training with his gruff mentor, Gurney Halleck (Josh Brolin), in the first film to good use as...

Bridget Jones is back for a fourth film, and filming will be getting underway in the spring. Renee Zellweger leads the returning cast.
Helen Fielding’s big knicker wearing, perennial singleton Bridget Jones has headlined three feature films so far – 2001’s Bridget Jones’ Diary, 2004’s Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and 2016’s Bridget Jones’ Baby.
The first film followed Bridget as she struck up a relationship with the smarmy, charming Daniel Cleaver, played by Hugh Grant, not realising that her perfect match is Mark Darcy. Darcy of course was played, in an inspired piece of casting, by Colin Firth – the pathetic fist fights between the two men stand as highlights of both films.
The second sees Bridget once again taken in by Cleaver’ charms in Thailand, before she ends up in prison. The third film sees Bridget end up pregnant, unsure whether Darcy or Patrick Dempsey’s Jack is the father.

Colin Firth began his career on the British stage, which led to roles in film and television. It wouldn’t be until 10 years into his career that Firth would become a household name in the United Kingdom when he starred in the highly successful BBC production of “Pride and Prejudice.” His role as Mr. Darcy in the film made him one of the top sex symbols in his native country. He would later lampoon his position as one of the countries most desired men when he played the role of Mark Darcy in “Bridget Jones’ Diary.” Bridget longs for her own version of the “Pride and Prejudice” hero but it takes her a while to realize that she has one in her life who even bares the same last name as Jane Austen’s character.

When the 2003 Christmas classic Love Actually entered the world, it was like a stuffed stocking, filled to the brim with some of Britain’s greatest actors.
From Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson to Alan Rickman, it attracted some of the best performers of the era.
The film also launched the careers of Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Olivia Olson, who were children when they starred in the romcom.
It’s been almost 20 years since Richard Curtis’s film was released, and they’ve all been very busy since then.
Some of the stars of the movie have gone on to work with Curtis again, while others have had huge franchise roles or become synonymous with certain characters, like Martin Freeman’s Dr John Watson in Sherlock.

As summer movie premieres slowly begin to taper out, Netflix is adding some classic comedy favorites to its library.
Newly streaming on Netflix this month are comedy favorites like John Hughes’ “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” a Jane Austen reinterpretation, “Bridget Jones’s Diary” and the Ryan Gosling flick “The Nice Guys,” in which he stars alongside Russell Crowe in the action-comedy that internet has rediscovered since the premiere of the Netflix original “The Gray Man.”
Netflix will also be rolling out classic contemporary romantic comedies starring some of TV’s biggest names.

Jane Austen knew a thing or two about complicated women and the way they move through the world. The author’s iconic bibliography — from “Pride and Prejudice” and “Emma” to “Sense and Sensibility,” and those are the just the English class curriculum bangers — has always hinged on indelible heroines and their Regency-era attempts to get their lives in order. These stories are both beholden to their time and place and undeniably universal in their concerns and charms.
Austen’s books have inspired all manner of adaptations on both stage and screen, from the faithful (Ang Lee’s luminous “Sense and Sensibility”) to the lightly loosened and even the straight-up free-wheeling (“Bridget Jones’s Diary”) to the mostly inane (“Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”). Austen’s books incisively depict a specific time in British life, but her keen understanding of human interactions and desires can happily be transplanted to a range of stories.

Since his breakthrough performance as Mr. Darcy on the 1995 BBC miniseries “Pride and Prejudice,” Colin Firth has made stiff romantic characters his specialty, even going so far as to embody the Austenesque Mark Darcy in the Bridget Jones film trilogy. He has, however, also demonstrated plenty of range over the last quarter century, and his newest role is perhaps his most demanding yet. The 61-year-old’s distinctively dark portrayal of convicted wife killer Michael Peterson on the HBO Max limited series “The Staircase” could earn him his first Emmy, which would nicely complement the Oscar already in his awards collection.
Firth won the favor of the film academy 11 years ago for starring as King George VI in “The King’s Speech.” This was his second consecutive try for a Best Actor Oscar, as he was first recognized for 2009’s “A Single Man.” His first and only Emmy nomination to date came...

If you haven’t taken advantage of all that Hulu has to offer lately besides “The Handmaid’s Tale” – which everybody should really, really watch right now – then you’re missing out.
“The Handmaid’s Tale’ has been a groundbreaking series for the streaming service, thanks to its foreboding story about a near future in which a portion of the United States has been turned into a theocracy. This new world of Gilead subjugates women and makes the fertile ones become breeders for high-ranking officials. Moving performances by Elisabeth Moss, Samira Wiley, Yvonne Strahovski, O-t Fagbenle and Alexis Bledel have made this series a must-watch.
Not only does Hulu have strong original programming like “The Handmaid’s Tale,” but it is one of the best places to watch shows that are currently on TV now, which makes cord-cutting that much easier. It also has an impressive catalog of past shows that are well worth revisiting.

Everyone’s favorite contemporary British heroine is back: Bridget Jones (Renée Zellweger) is now successful, at her ideal weight, and alas still single. In Bridget Jones’s Baby, she has two surprising one-night stands with different men: an American dating guru (Patrick Dempsey) and her former flame Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). Then she’s pregnant: who could the father be? Will we see misunderstandings and shenanigans along the lines of a typical Three’s Company episode? Unfortunately, yes…yes, we do.
The original 2001 Bridget Jones’s Diary remains a mini-classic of its kind: one of the most dignified and intelligent of its genre (romantic comedy), yet it also transcends the genre, truly plumbing some depth (as mainstream movies go) about accepting who you really are, and understanding what love actually is. It went beyond your typical “boy and girl like each other because they’re in a...

There’s something to be said about the resilience of Renée Zellweger. After a 6 year absence, it’s fitting that she returns to mainstream audiences in the comfortable albeit accident-prone shoes of Bridget Jones. She feels right at home here, and I must say, it’s nice to have her back. Bridget Jones’s Baby finds our modern woman at 43, single and wrestling with the notion that (save for her “ideal weight” and producing gig on an international news station) certain prospects in her life are further behind than ahead.
However, none of this initially phases her, and she readily owns it, consistently remarking how great she looks and feels. One can’t help but see Zellweger coming through, given her recent change in appearance two years ago, and the overblown, unnecessary scrutiny that followed. She channels this grit and determination into Jones never more so than in the film’s first act,...

Looking back, it’s amusing to think that the casting of the very American Renée Zellweger as author Helen Fielding’s British heroine was such a bone of contention for fans when Bridget Jones’s Diary was released in 2001. That film kicked off Zellweger’s three-year dance with Oscar, culminating in a Supporting Actress win for Cold Mountain (her third consecutive nomination). Yet, in the years since, Zellweger’s profile has diminished, and her Oscar-winning performance is remembered more for her over-the-top accent than as a career highlight.
Instead, her role as neurotic self-professed “spinster” Bridget Jones remains one of Zellweger’s most indelible, in part since she reprised it for the ill-received sequel Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason in 2004. However, now poised to return to the spotlight full-force after a six-year absence, Zellweger circles back to the character with Bridget Jones’s Baby,...

In Bridget Jones’s Baby, co-written by Fielding, Dan Mazer, and Emma Thompson, Mark Darcy's (Firth) competition for Bridget Jones (Zellweger), is Jack, an American dating website guru, played by Patrick Dempsey as a variation of a Disney prince. Jack comes across like the product of his own algorithms, the perfect light-as-air fantasy catalyst for the other two. If this film were directed by Stanley Donen or Vincente Minnelli, he would do magic tricks while dancing.

Bridget Jones is a goddess. At least she was in 2001, when Texas-born Renée Zellweger introduced author Helen Fielding's weight-obsessed, love-starved, accident-prone British singleton to the screen in Bridget Jones' Diary. Zellweger deservedly nabbed an Oscar nomination as Best Actress; award talk evaporated, however, for the 2004 sequel Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. The actress was back juggling her affections for snobbish barrister Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) and her caddish boss Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant). But the follow-up played like it'd been attacked by a charisma-killing virus. And so for a dozen years,...

Welcome back to the Weekend Warrior, your weekly look at the new movies hitting theaters this weekend, as well as other cool events and things to check out.
This Past Weekend:
Tom Hanks and Clint Eastwood’s real-life drama about airline pilot Sully (Warner Bros.) far surpassed all expectations, making nearly $10 million more than my prediction with an opening weekend of $35 million in 3,525 theaters, also making it one of the biggest openings for a movie opening the weekend after Labor Day. The Screen Gems thriller When the Bough Breaks disappointed compared to some of their similar releases, taking second place with around where we predicted with around $14 million. The lower profile animated film The Wild Life (Summit/Lionsgate) did end up in fifth place behind Don’t Breathe and Suicide Squad, but with a measly $3.3 million in 2,493 theaters. As expected, Relativity’s theatrical return with its own horror/thriller The Disappointments Room...

In 2004’s Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason, we saw Bridget (Renee Zellweger) seemingly find true love with her Mr. Darcy (Colin Firth), but, as we’ve learned, in Bridget’s world, nothing ever runs smoothly.
Case in point: It’s 10 years later and in Bridget Jones’s Baby, she’s 43 and again single, having seen her relationship with uptight lawyer Mark Darcy fall apart a few years prior. That isn’t to say the rest of Bridge’s life is in shambles, though. Quite the contrary, in fact.
She’s at her ideal weight, still has her great friends and is now a successful news producer, working for a popular news program. She doesn’t necessarily lament the fact she doesn’t have a man in her life or that her child bearing years may be quickly fading.
Instead, she’s living life large – and that’s when Bridget...

Sometimes, character wins. Whilst the basic framework of Bridget Jones’s Baby will be familiar to anyone who watched the excellent first film and the piss-poor second, what screenwriters Helen Fielding, Emma Thompson and Dan Mazer have appreciated here is that the core central character of Bridget Jones is their greatest asset. They are not shy about playing to that.
As such, Bridget Jones’s Baby wastes no time reintroducing us to Bridget, and Renee Zellweger wastes no time effortlessly slipping back into her most popular role. We encounter Bridget this time alone, single, and being woken up on her 43rd birthday. She’s working on a television news show that’s being overtaken by clickbait culture. She’s back to square one, still scribbling in her diary, just a decade on. And once more, she’s stuck. Déjà vu? Yep, and that’s the point.

Oscar® winners Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth are joined by Patrick Dempsey for the next chapter of the world’s favorite singleton in Bridget Jones’S Baby. Directed by Sharon Maguire (Bridget Jones’s Diary), the new film in the beloved comedy series based on creator Helen Fielding’s heroine finds Bridget unexpectedly expecting.
After breaking up with Mark Darcy (Firth), Bridget Jones’s (Zellweger) “happily ever after” hasn’t quite gone according to plan. Fortysomething and single again, she decides to focus on her job as top news producer and surround herself with old friends and new. For once, Bridget has everything completely under control. What could possibly go wrong?

It’s been over 12 years since Helen Fielding’s beloved character Bridget Jones had been seen on the silver screen in Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. In the time since then, it seemed like we’d never see Renee Zellwegger back in her most popular role ever again. Somehow, things finally came together for Bridget Jones’s Baby, which (as one can assume from the title) has Zellwegger’s Jones pregnant with two possible fathers.
One of the options is Patrick Swayze as a billionaire that Bridget has an encounter with at a music festival, but fans of the original movie will be more excited by Bridget’s second option, which is Colin Firth’s Mark Darcy, the emotion-free prosecutor who when last we saw him, had proposed to Bridget. In the time between movies, things had changed, and we learn that Darcy ended up marrying someone else as...

Bridge is back, 12 years later, and she’s going to be a mom. While “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason,” the first follow-up to the beloved book-based rom-com “Bridget Jones’s Diary” (which earned Renée Zellweger a 2002 Oscar nod) was generally considered a disappointment, things seem to be looking up for installment number three, “Bridget Jones’s Baby.”
Kevin P. Sullivan at Entertainment Weekly finds charm and gut-laughs despite the film’s predictable tone:
“The proceedings may be typical for Bridget and the series, but it’s all played so earnestly that it’s difficult to hold a grudge.”
Variety‘s Catherine Bray gives props to a female storyline not typically depicted in mainstream comedies:
“‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ is not a comedy for the ages, but it’s interesting to see a rom-com starring a middle-aged woman grappling with irrelevance in the workplace.”

Broad gags, choice turns and some terrific slapstick involving a hospital revolving door elevate a possibly opportunistic outing into a solid and satisfying comeback
“Sell-by dates don’t mean anything ... do they?” Bridget Jones is talking about the eco-friendly biodegradable condoms she bought ages ago, and with which she has suddenly ended an aeon-long sex famine by using twice, on getting suddenly lucky with two chaps within a few days: dishy online dating expert (Patrick Dempsey) and her old smoulderer, the unexpectedly single Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). Now 40-something Bridget has ascended the duff and there is a Mamma-Mia!-style mystery about the dad’s identity. The director is Sharon Maguire, and the writers are Emma Thompson, Dan Mazer and Helen Fielding, author of the original newspaper column and bestselling book.

"It's very hard for her," says Dempsey. "And that's where the conflict is and the humor is and that's where the heart of the piece is." In the film, Dempsey,...

It’s been a dozen years since we’ve seen Bridget Jones in theaters, but now we’re just around the corner from her return, and this time the story revolves around her pregnancy.
In Bridget Jones’s Baby, Bridget is forty-something and alone again. If her life isn’t out of control enough, despite her best efforts, now she finds herself pregnant, and she isn’t sure who the father is.
Colin Firth returns, but this time Patrick Dempsey joins the cast as Bridget’s new love interest.
While the original, and even the sequel, were pretty solid rom-com efforts, this one has to make you wonder about the theory, and why we’re going back to this well after such a long time. The length away may be part of the point, as fans get to check in with Bridget, and learn what “being Bridget” might mean once you hit your forties,...

Renée Zellweger has never being more charming that when she pulled on the large pants of everybody’s favourite unlucky in love singleton Bridget Jones. Ms. Jones is coming back to our screens with Bridget Jones’s Baby, and the latest trailer is here to show us that the charm is still alive and well as Bridget must figure out who is the father of her unborn baby: ex Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) or new suitor Jack (Patrick Dempsey, who, and I know he was pretty much written off in Edge of Reason, should really be Hugh Grant’s character). There’s no incredibly unmanly fight on display here, but I’m holding out hope. Check it out below. Released: September 16th Synopsis: Oscar® winners Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth are joined by Patrick Dempsey for the next chapter of the world’s favorite singleton in Bridget Jones’s Baby.

"For better or worse, fate has brought us together." Universal has debuted a trailer for Bridget Jones's Baby, a sequel to the smash hit Bridget Jones's Diary from 2001. Now 15 years later, Renée Zellweger returns to continue the story of Bridget Jones, and it looks so bad. Please don't see this film. In addition to Zellweger, the cast includes Patrick Dempsey, Emma Thompson (who co-wrote the script), Colin Firth, Shirley Henderson, Jim Broadbent, Sarah Solemani. Hollywood has reached a point where the only movies they're making are sequels, remakes, reboots, anything that can connect with a pre-existing property, and this is an example of them scraping the bottom of the barrel. No really, stay away from this. Here's the official trailer for Sharon Maguire's Bridget Jones's Baby, from Universal's YouTube: After breaking up with Mark Darcy (Firth), Bridget Jones’s (Zellweger) “happily ever after” hasn’t quite gone according to plan.

They say life begins at 40. Exactly who they are and their understanding of ‘the game of life’ is up for question, but for Bridget Jones, an unexpected pregnancy and yet another romantic dilemma is enough to spark a mid-life crisis as our endearing heroine attempts to navigate life at forty.
That’s right, Renee Zellweger’s clumsy protagonist is headed back to the big screen later this year via Bridget Jones’ Baby, Sharon Maguire’s long-rumored rom-com threequel that also heralds the return of Colin Firth’s long-time love interest, Mark Darcy.
However, things soon take a turn for the worse for our helpless singleton after crossing paths with Patrick Dempsey’s dashing American, Jack. It’s enough to tee up a love triangle between Firth, Dempsey and Zellweger, as the trio scramble to figure out the identity of the father.
