The record-breaking Indian blockbuster will be released in Chinese cinemas in May.
Indian blockbuster Baahubali: The Beginning has secured a release date in China, where E Stars Films will release the film on more than 6,000 prints in May.
E Stars previously worked on the release of Rajkumar Hirani’s Pk, starring Aamir Khan, which grossed more than $20m from 5,000 prints in May last year.
Produced by Arka Mediaworks and directed by S. S. Rajamouli, Baahubali: The Beginning is the highest-grossing local film ever in India and has been sold to more than 30 international territories including Latin America and Japan. Splendid recently acquired rights for Germany.
International sales on the Telugu-language film are handled by Arka Mediaworks International, headed by François Da Silva.
The second part of the film, Baahubali: The Conclusion, is scheduled for release in early 2017.

The 15th Mumbai Film Festival (Mff) presented by Reliance Entertainment and organized by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (Mami) scheduled between 17th-24th October is all set to showcase the best of contemporary French cinema and welcome artists for the 6th edition of the Rendez-vous with French Cinema co-organized with The French Embassy in India, Institut Français en Inde and Unifrance films.
As part of the festival highlights, Costa Gavras will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award during the opening ceremony in the presence of His Excellency Mr François Richier, Ambassador of France to India who will grace us with his presence especially for this occasion. Among others, Nathalie Baye, jury member of the international section, Mahamat Saleh Haroun, director of the film “Grigris”, Guillaume Brac, director of the film “Tonnerre” (Competition) and Leos Carax, well known film maker who will be conducting a masters class.

Frederic Boyer replaces Olivier Pere at Directors' Fortnight which is run by Societe des Realisateurs de Films (SRF). Olivier Pere is leaving to head up the Locarno Film Festival where as announced last September he will replace Frederic Maire on September 1, 2009. Pere began at the Fortnight in 2004 after two artistic directors, Francois Da Silva and Marie-Pierre Macia, left within a year of one another. Boyer who has been a member of the selection committee of the Fortnight since Pere’s arrival in 2004 will begin his new job in November to prepare the 2010 edition.
