A wrestling school that helped launch the careers of some of the biggest names in the sport is the subject of a new Netflix documentary series from Greg Whiteley, the creator of Cheer and Last Chance U. Wrestlers, which premieres September 13, centers around ex-WWE star Al Snow as he helps the next generation along at Ohio Valley Wrestling in Louisville, Kentucky. Snow, who previously appeared as a coach on the reality series Tough Enough, has worked tirelessly to carry on the rich history of Ohv from founder Danny Davis. Names including John Cena, Brock Lesnar, The Miz, Mickie James, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, Dave Bautista, Cm Punk, Cody Rhodes, and countless others honed their skills at one point or another there. A television producer charged with killing her sister pleaded no contest today to voluntary manslaughter.
Jill Blackstone, 59, was immediately sentenced to eight years in state prison following her plea to one felony count of voluntary manslaughter involving the March 2015 death of her 49-year-old sister Wendy Blackstone in Studio City, along with three felony counts of animal cruelty involving three dogs — two of whom died.
Police contend that Blackstone — who has worked on such programs as The Jerry Springer Show, Divorce Court and Family Court with Judge Penny — set a garage on fire, killing her sister and two of the dogs, and staged it as an accident.
Her sister Wendy Blackstone was legally blind and required hearing aids, according to the Los Angeles Times. She was found in a Studio City garage alongside a Weber charcoal grill and a trash can with ash in it — both believed to be the source...

A pack of progressive candidates have crashed this year’s Democratic primaries, hoping to unseat incumbents and push the party to the left. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-n.Y.), the fifth-ranking Democrat in the House, has other plans.
Jeffries and two of his House Democrat allies on Wednesday rolled out the first slate of endorsements from Team Blue Pac, a political action committee intended to protect incumbents from intraparty attacks. The endorsements and their attendant $5,000 campaign contributions are the strongest demonstration of support yet from Jeffries and his allies — and serve...

Vince McMahon has a lot of negative qualities to him. He’s an egomaniacal, out-of-touch, petty sociopath who will chase people around the workplace with soiled underwear on a stick. Despite being an eccentric psycho, Vince still has his positives. One of them is how whenever WrestleMania comes by, he tends to treat the roster like Ebenezer Scrooge treats people on Christmas Day. WrestleMania is the biggest payday of the year and it’s a show where they try to get as many people on as possible so that even some of the lowest-ranking folks can earn some big money.
It can take many forms, from ten-man tag matches, Fatal 4-Ways, Money in the Bank, or even just tossing in a bunch of pointless singles matches featuring guys who aren’t even feuding. The most tried and true way to get a bunch of wrestlers on the show with little effort is a battle royal.

To many wrestling fans, the annual Royal Rumble is the most enjoyable PPV of the year. Sure, WrestleMania may have the glitz and glamour, but the Rumble show usually has at least one or two great matches on the card, not to mention the over-the-top titular match itself.
The reason that fans love the Royal Rumble match is down to a whole variety of reasons; there’s the anticipation of possibly seeing a debuting face; there’s the hope of an old favourite of yesteryear appearing; there’s the chance that the match is used to make somebody into a main event player; and there’s even the slightest of hope (which is seemingly getting slighter with each passing year) that will be given an unpredictable finish.
Quite often, though, the real key to a Royal Rumble match is its anchor; a superstar who slugs it out and...

With WWE Royal Rumble 2020 almost upon us, we look at every match and see the best and worst of what they had to offer.
In 2003, a rapping John Cena said it best. “Besides open mics, one thing that gets me boiled is an old school 30-man battle royal.” Actually, he didn’t say that best at all! What was I thinking quoting him?
What I mean to say is that the Royal Rumble match is one of the best things WWE has had going for them since the '80s. Pat Patterson’s brainchild has given us well over a day’s worth of footage and a lifetime of great memories. WWE may act like the Royal Rumble is the appetizer to WrestleMania’s main course, but as far as I’m concerned, the Rumble is the main course and Mania is just a lengthy dessert.

In today’s WWE Universe, the Survivor Series has turned into just another pay-per-view (or “WWE Network special presentation”, however you want to say it), but, back in the day, it was one of the premiere events on the WWE calendar.
An Original Four event, the Survivor Series featured an entire card stacked with teams of four wrestlers taking on another team in an elimination tag match. In its earliest incarnation, the “survivors” of the matches on the card would meet in the main event in an Ultimate Survivor Match to determine the king(s) of the Survivor Series.
However, with the Attitude Era came changes in the product and WWE felt that the late 1990s audiences didn’t have the attention span for Survivor Series matches, which sometimes ran as long as 40 minutes to tell a proper story. This made the event far less important and less...

When an event of any kind is around as long as World Wrestling Entertainment’s Survivor Series has been, there are destined to be matches and moments that were considerably awesome at the time they aired but, in the years proceeding them, have gone forgotten due to an influx of news matches and moments for fans to celebrate. Throughout the fall extravaganza’s near three-decade long existence, the show has been home to some highly controversial moments that have shoved those outstanding matches further into the background.
Thanks to the introduction of the company’s revolutionary WWE Network, however, fans have each and every edition of the show at their disposal, making it much easier to go back in time and revisit some of the best and most forgotten matches in the event’s annals.

Some wrestlers only get one shot at the big time. Here are the Royal Rumble competitors who made the best of it...and those who didn't.
There’s something truly special about the Royal Rumble. It’s creative and filled with so many possibilities. Well, not always possibilities. There are certain years where the winner is so set in stone that even a child can find it obvious a month in advance. Yet they still rule because once every year, WWE puts on a wrestling party. A bunch of the roster will take part in one match and we get to see a snapshot of the company.
Older Royal Rumbles are like a class photo or a time capsule that best represent the year or even era and one thing that really magnifies what the Royal Rumble is all about is the one-timer. The kind of wrestler...
