One of the founders of the Chatham Community Players where he directed
115 stage productions during his 52 years with the organization.
Performed in radio serials such as "Gang Busters" and "Hilltop House"
in the 1930s and 40s.
According to his NY Times obituary, Mr. Dawley had worked for the
Pierce-Arrow Company in the art department and was a designer of
special cars. It claimed he originated the idea of placing headlights
on fenders.
Dawley joined Pierce-Arrow in 1912, and assisted in the design of almost every model until 1938, when the company folded.
Formed H.M. Dawley Inc, a film production company, in New York City in 1922.
