The new trailer for The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar is upon us courtesy of Netflix. It seems with every new Wes Anderson trailer that’s released the film looks like it’s the most Wes Anderson-y movie ever. This trailer follows suit as his signature symmetrical framing is present, as well as a frequent device of the actors narrating right into the camera, breaking the fourth wall. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar recently made its debut at the Venice Film Festival, and while it follows Anderson’s Asteroid City from earlier this year, it is not another feature-length film, but a short film that’s just over half an hour.
The official synopsis from Netflix reads,
“A beloved Roald Dahl short story about a rich man who learns about a guru who can see without using his eyes and then sets out to master the skill in order to cheat at gambling.

This fall, quirky auteur Wes Anderson follows up this year’s Asteroid City with another project slated to stream on Netflix in the fall. The movie is The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and surprisingly, it’s only a short film. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar clocks in at 39 minutes and is scheduled to premiere on the streaming service on September 27. Prior to its premiere on the content platform, Netflix is also proud to announce that the Wes Anderson short will also be making its debut at the Venice Film Festival.
The official logline for The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar from Netflix reads,
“A beloved Roald Dahl story about a rich man who learns about a guru who can see without using his eyes and then sets out to master the skill in order to cheat at gambling.” In typical Wes Anderson fashion, the filmmaker has assembled an all-star cast for his project.

Wes Anderson may have already released his 11th feature film this year in the form of "Asteroid City," but the filmmaker isn't done yet as he's got another project up his sleeve — one that will be making its way to Netflix very soon. This time, Anderson is taking on a classic story from the mind of Roald Dahl in the form of "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar." We don't have a trailer just yet, but we've got a new poster (which you can check out below) and a release date.
Anderson's adaptation of Dahl's short story is set to hit Netflix on September 27 following its premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Even though it's just a short film, clocking in at 39 minutes, the respected director was able to line up a murderer's row of talent in front of the camera including Benedict Cumberbatch ("Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness...
