American Idol was announced to be coming to an end after 15 seasons yesterday (May 12), but did you know that Ryan Seacrest used to have a co-host?
Brian Dunkleman hosted the Fox competition's first season alongside Ryan Seacrest, before the latter took sole control. History has not been kind to poor old Brian since, with Fox TV CEO Dana Walden joking about a possible reunion for the pair.
"Where is Brian Dunkleman? If you give me his number, I will call and invite him," she joked, though Dunkleman gave as good as he got last night:
I knew American Idol would never last without me #Cancelled

To honour Dunkleman, we have collected a few hosts of massive shows that you may have cruelly forgotten, starting with the man himself.

Amy Williams has signed up to join The Gadget Show.
The Olympic gold medallist will team up with Jason Bradbury, Ortis Deley and Jon Bentley when the Channel 5 show returns in the autumn.
Williams has moved into TV presenting since winning a gold in the Skeleton competition at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
She previously joined the Ski Sunday team in January 2013 and also commentates for BBC Sport. She also took part in the Sochi 2014 Olympics coverage.
Williams said of her new role: "I'm delighted to be joining the team at The Gadget Show and can't wait to get stuck in testing the latest technology on the market."
Executive producer Ewan Keil added: "We are really, really pleased that Amy is joining us. I know she will relish our more extreme challenges and will get stuck into everything we throw at her. Happily, she also brings a great deal of technical knowledge to the show.

This edition draws material from all across the globe and even from the past. We have two talented musicians from Greece; following Russia’s success with outer-orbit canines, I bring you a gravity defying cat; an English TV presenter’s worst day in the office; rare conversations on the New York subway; and last but not least, some misogynistic coffee adverts from 1950s America. What more could you possibly ask for?
The Inbetweeners driving past Rebecca Black at a bus stop? Oh, okay then.
Enjoy!
5.Two Pianists
I don’t know if the performance within this clip is dubbed, or even slightly risqué – because it’s absolutely hilarious!
What is the clip about? Two men perform various iconic tunes on the piano in a Greek talent show, with their private parts. The men stand there, legs slightly apart, and squat down comically to ‘hit’ the keys, with their hands limp...

Ortis Deley will work for Channel 4 again in the future, despite his recent axe from presenting its athletics coverage. The Gadget Show presenter's role was "scaled back" after the broadcaster received hundreds of complaints over his large amount of live errors while fronting its coverage of the Iaaf world athletics championships. He was later replaced by Rick Edwards. Channel 4's director of creative diversity Stuart Cosgrove has admitted to the coverage's "false start", but insists that Deley will not be axed completely from the channel. (more)...

Des Lynam has defended Ortis Deley following his shaky performance on Channel 4's athletics coverage. The former Match of the Day presenter criticised Channel 4 for not supporting the Gadget Show host, who was sacked by the broadcaster last week. Lynam told The Guardian: "I blame the channel, absolutely. It was pretty dreadful to watch, but I feel sorry for the chap. He should never have been put in that position. "Presenting a major live sports event is extremely difficult. You need a lot of experience of live TV, and you need to know your stuff on the sport. "The first really major live event I presented was the Commonwealth Games in 1982. And I'd had 13 years of live broadcasting, a lot of it in sport, by the time I did it." The 68-year-old added: "You've got links to camera, links (more)...
