Brazilian TV behemoth Globo presented its world premiere preview of Brazilian series “Justice: Misconduct” at Content Americas, while also spotlighting its 2024 slate, presenting via sleek fast-paced sizzle reels its array of ever popular telenovelas such as “Crossed Paths,” “Land of Desire,” and “Perfect Love” alongside teasing the continuation of its successful “Justice” series.
“Justice: Misconduct,” the series created by Manuela Dias, is a narrative of moral complexity and human connection framed by the dilemmas surrounding the notion of justice.
Season 1 debuted in 2016. Set against the richly textured backdrop of Recife in Brazil, the series unfolded through interconnected stories of characters navigating the turbulent waters of justice and redemption. Season 2 takes that success, building four new stories through its run. It switches geography too, an idea from director of the series Gustavo Fernández, placing the stories in Ceilândia, Brasilia and its environs. The first season’s success was highlighted by its...

NATPE Miami would hardly be the same without a splashy, big, packed and convivial Globo showcase, a fixture for buyers. But, held totally online, this year’s NATPE Virtual Miami, whoch kicks off on Jan. 19, is hardly the same. So it’s heartening to see Globo going for broke with its Jan. 15 Upfront, which catches the Brazilian TV giant, as so many large players in Latin America, with new structures, management and content. Following, five quick takes on what to expect from the event.
All Together, Right Now
Already hosting Brazil’s biggest linear TV network, its leading satellite-cable operator and its biggest Brazilian Ott service, Globo has now brought all three under the same roof. “There’s Only One Globo,” its Upfront slogan reads. That has multiple upside as Globo. “With Globo being unified, our [lineup for international licensing gains more structure, more diversity of content to serve partners and audiences from different regions of the world,” says Paulo Marinho, Globo exec director of networks. Globo ’s domestic viewership now spreads over mobile,...

As Brazilian TV giant Globo gears up to present a change of guard in top management at Friday’s online Upfront, one of ithe biggest and most crafted swings that it’s bringing onto the international market is “A Mother’s Love.”
The telenovela marks the first production shot at MG4, Globo’s state of the art, 26,000 sq. meter Rio de Janeiro production complex, a milestone in Globo’s transformation into a content creator for both linear and Ott.
Globo’s core challenge, however, remains its contacting with audiences ever more accustomed to the rival offer of global dreaming platforms. What do Brazilian – and international audiences – really want to see?
As an ever more demanding audience is satiated by high end entertainment on all sides, “A Mother’s Love” looks like one Globo response to the new streaming age, pushing the envelope on telenovela creative capacity.

Brazil’s Globo, Latin America’s biggest media company, presented a new lineup of feel-good telenovelas at its MipCancun Online Plus showcase Tuesday as an antidote to the raging global pandemic.
Citing a World Health Organization (Who) survey, Globo sales manager Pablo Ghiglioni noted that the Covid-19 outbreak and subsequent restrictions have “impacted society’s well-being.” “Since the beginning of the year, there has been an increase in cases of anxiety and depression in several countries around the world,” he said, quoting the report’s findings. In the U.S. alone, 40% of the respondents said they felt more anxious while 20% felt more depressed; one out of three felt more alone per the survey, Ghiglioni continued.
Faced with this “new normal,” audiences around the world are looking for lighter, more positive, escapist content, he attested.
Globo presented three telenovelas to fit that bill: “The Incredible 90s,” “The Good Side of Life!
