Although he was "raised in the church," he did not become born again
until the summer after his freshman year at West Georgia College in
Carrollton, Georgia. While visiting a Bible study on the campus of
Georgia Tech in Atlanta, he gave his life to Christ. Despite the fact
that he became born again, it was never his desire to become a
minister; instead, he planned on becoming a professional football
player.
